“The name of the human who is written in this note shall die。” Death Note was the first manga I ever picked up and it has definitely made me hungry for more。 I loved the competition between L and Light, and then Near and Light, and adored Misa’s character。 The art, too, was amazing and I’m rather sad I’ve reached the end, I’ll miss the characters and all the twists and turns of the story。 The ending was just perfect and the perfect way to wrap up this amazing storyI don't think I can do justice “The name of the human who is written in this note shall die。” Death Note was the first manga I ever picked up and it has definitely made me hungry for more。 I loved the competition between L and Light, and then Near and Light, and adored Misa’s character。 The art, too, was amazing and I’m rather sad I’ve reached the end, I’ll miss the characters and all the twists and turns of the story。 The ending was just perfect and the perfect way to wrap up this amazing storyI don't think I can do justice in a review of the masterful story that Tsugumi Ohba crafted, and thus would certainly recommend you check out some of the other AMAZING reviews, and definitely recommend you read this manga if the permise didn't already intrigue you enough to do so! 。。。more

I was uncertain about leaving my rating at five stars, since I can't say that its like, one of my favorite books。 But ill just leave it there and say that it's probably more like four or five stars, just because of what it is, and what Tsugumi has done here。 I must say that it took longer than expected to finish it but I still loved the fight between L and Kira。 There was also some major differences between for the endeing between the anime and the maga。 And I think I like the manga better, exce I was uncertain about leaving my rating at five stars, since I can't say that its like, one of my favorite books。 But ill just leave it there and say that it's probably more like four or five stars, just because of what it is, and what Tsugumi has done here。 I must say that it took longer than expected to finish it but I still loved the fight between L and Kira。 There was also some major differences between for the endeing between the anime and the maga。 And I think I like the manga better, except for the bonus chapter which was just completely unnecessary。 。。。more

One of my favorite mangas of all time。 The characterization, design, art, and story all are amazing。

3。75 rounded up, total; 4。5 for the first half, 2。5 for the second half。 As faithful to the anime as it gets。 The first arc was really solid。 The plot twists didn’t really excite me as much as when I first watched the show, but it was well written and illustrated。 The second main arc was such a chore。 A bit wordy for a manga, if I say so myself lol。 The last few chapters were pretty dope, with quite an exposure of the folly of selfishness and autonomy。 In summary, just watch the show。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Death Note is fantastic - Just trust me on that (At least the first half) but the ending was rushed。 Probably the author decided to end it quickly that's why the main protagonist , Light Yagami made so many mistakes in the end, that are quite unlike Light The brilliance of Light Yagami which was potrayed in the first half of the book was quite lacking in the later half。 Perhaps, he grew more and more over confident and egotistical as time passed by but Teru Mikami, going to the bank only to writ Death Note is fantastic - Just trust me on that (At least the first half) but the ending was rushed。 Probably the author decided to end it quickly that's why the main protagonist , Light Yagami made so many mistakes in the end, that are quite unlike Light The brilliance of Light Yagami which was potrayed in the first half of the book was quite lacking in the later half。 Perhaps, he grew more and more over confident and egotistical as time passed by but Teru Mikami, going to the bank only to write a name which could have been done by him anywhere, on a piece of the death note seems more like a plot hole or rather lazy writing on the author's part I had decided to give it 4/5 stars but the reason why I finally decided to give it 5/5 was because it did manage to hold my attention till the end ( No matter how many plot holes appeared in the end of the book) - This manga is a great read for anyone who wishes to start his/her journey into the world of manga 😊 。。。more

Great story, loved the whole beginning, I feel like it lagged a bit after a certain character's death, but then the ending was fantastic。 It's very thought-provoking without trying to tell you one moral or a right answer。 Side note, I only skimmed the 13th vol because it was just a behind the scenes and interviews with the author, which was interesting but I didn't feel like I needed to read the whole thing。 Great story, loved the whole beginning, I feel like it lagged a bit after a certain character's death, but then the ending was fantastic。 It's very thought-provoking without trying to tell you one moral or a right answer。 Side note, I only skimmed the 13th vol because it was just a behind the scenes and interviews with the author, which was interesting but I didn't feel like I needed to read the whole thing。 。。。more

Although it takes up a lot more time to read than you might expect of a manga, this is a masterpiece, that will keep you on the edge of your seat, with risk of falling off a few times! It’s just 2400 pages of cliffhangers。 (OK,maybe 2354, the bonus chapter was mweh) I recommend this to anyone who is a human being!

Mi primera lectura del año y empieza bien la cosa。 Me encanta este volumen integral。

Ok no words can justify how great this manga is。Its the best manga I ever read。 Suspense was killing, concept was so unique and new, ending was out of the world, I am not able to to take sides even today, n I never will be。 There is no right and wrong in this book。 Just a game and whoever catches other one first wins。But I will be honest after L, I lost interest but that said- no matter which way it would have turned out I couldn't have been happy。 Ok no words can justify how great this manga is。Its the best manga I ever read。 Suspense was killing, concept was so unique and new, ending was out of the world, I am not able to to take sides even today, n I never will be。 There is no right and wrong in this book。 Just a game and whoever catches other one first wins。But I will be honest after L, I lost interest but that said- no matter which way it would have turned out I couldn't have been happy。 。。。more

I know it’s genre defining so I didn’t give it just 1 star but what was the point of it? 2,000+ plus pages of zero character development and honestly no interesting plot。 It’s not just that only the 2 main characters get any sort of personality and it’s not just that all side characters are reduced to blathering idiots who do nothing and say nothing (unless you’re a girl then you’re essentially naked and are no capable of thinking for yourself) it’s that it’s boring。 It’s two people playing ches I know it’s genre defining so I didn’t give it just 1 star but what was the point of it? 2,000+ plus pages of zero character development and honestly no interesting plot。 It’s not just that only the 2 main characters get any sort of personality and it’s not just that all side characters are reduced to blathering idiots who do nothing and say nothing (unless you’re a girl then you’re essentially naked and are no capable of thinking for yourself) it’s that it’s boring。 It’s two people playing chess。 And it’s not even an interesting or challenging game of chess。 However I did come to like the artwork for the Shinigami and their realm so there’s that I guess。 。。。more

The moment that was revealed my brain was just shook at that time。 Lol, future Emma was even more shocked about the changing identities of Kira。 - I still liked Death Note but I have to say at times it became quite repetitive and it felt like the same story was just repeating itself over and over, which was also why I took so many breaks from reading this manga and why many months went by before I picked it up again。 - Ryuk was just the shining star of this manga series & Light was really fascinating (fucked up but fascinating nonetheless)。 I didn´t really like the first L, he got on my nerves so much。 However, when his successors suddenly (Mello and Near) appeared I found myself liking them more。 I also initially thought that one of L´s successors (Mello) was a girl instead of a guy, whoops。 - I didn´t like how overly sexualized Misa was (she was always wearing skimpy clothes and how her sole purpose in life was to live for Light which I still don´t understand)。 And don´t even get me started on Matsuda (an actual adult who was initially 25-26 but after the time skip 30-31) who was flirting and crushing on Sayu, Light´s younger sister, who initially was 14-15 years old and later around 18-21。 I am quite appalled by the creator´s inclusion of this。 Do the Japanese really have a thing for sexualizing minors or young people? (Well it also happens in the k-pop world, which I also don´t approve of)。 - The ending was just mind-blowing。 Overall really good and I totally understand and approve of the hype。 It is definitely a must read for people who are interested in mangas。 。。。more

Would recommend watching anime instead of reading this。Reasons- Quite good music, details aren't really lost there。Read manga in case- you really love the anime and want to revisit the story after a gap, Manga provides slightly different epilogue and only additional details it provides is better understanding of extra death note rules。(view spoiler)[If not for the epilogue I would have given this a 7 instead of 8。Having already seen anime couple years ago I knew what to expect when I started rea Would recommend watching anime instead of reading this。Reasons- Quite good music, details aren't really lost there。Read manga in case- you really love the anime and want to revisit the story after a gap, Manga provides slightly different epilogue and only additional details it provides is better understanding of extra death note rules。(view spoiler)[If not for the epilogue I would have given this a 7 instead of 8。Having already seen anime couple years ago I knew what to expect when I started reading this and was surprised to find out that Light, being a protagonist was actually a very lucky person。Examples of this are- Him meeting fiancé of the FBI agent before she could meet L and then general assumptions of things going exactly as he planned。For me the manga peaked when L and Light were together, I liked both the characters and it just felt like good times。The way Light had planned everything before giving up ownership was another peak, the whole thing with Rem having to kill L was a masterstroke。 And that is why I think the manga is a must read。What I didn't like is the America part。 I couldn't bring myself to care much about Near or Mello and just the chaos as Light spends time reacting to them。 It was also tedious to keep track of 3 death notes, their memberships and pages。It only got better when Mello was mostly out of the picture, story was back in Japan and it Light vs Near。Except now coming to the end, it was Near who was lucky and not Light。Near discovering x-kira doesn't have a Shinigami was too forced。It was very wrong of Near to risk everything bringing everyone in that warehouse because X-kira/T having separate pages (like a piece Light literally had) instead of relying on Notebook would have ruined everything。So author makes up with that with a theory of Near having written T's name in Notebook in advance。(hide spoiler)]Overall 4/5。 。。。more

4。5 stars -This manga was mind blowing! It's cool to watch Light start as an overconfident, intelligent kid wanting to make the world a better place。 Then the plot intensifies as detective L starts to track down Light ,and Light must do whatever it takes to throw him off his trail。As Light faces more challenges from more people ,you start to see how the line between good and bad starts to get blurrier since Light realizes he must become the criminal type he tried to get rid of in the first place 4。5 stars -This manga was mind blowing! It's cool to watch Light start as an overconfident, intelligent kid wanting to make the world a better place。 Then the plot intensifies as detective L starts to track down Light ,and Light must do whatever it takes to throw him off his trail。As Light faces more challenges from more people ,you start to see how the line between good and bad starts to get blurrier since Light realizes he must become the criminal type he tried to get rid of in the first place。 You can really see his transformation over the book。 Plus, I thought the other characters and their personal ambitions were cool as well。There was just one major problem for me:THE CLEAR SEXISMEx 1:Misa starts off as an above-average intelligence girl who uses the station to get to Light but gets dumbed down into a crazy love interest that's dependent on Light。Ex 2:Naomi is a smart detective who is onto Light but somehow immediately falls for his charisma trap and dies in 5 min。Ex 3:Halle Lidner is a smart assistant who rarely gets mentioned。*BONUS REASON*:There are no women in the police department or special task force!I mostly loved this manga:) 。。。more
