Summary

Brace yourself for a turbulent read in this hilarious and scandalous memoir, filled with shocking true stories that give a rare insight into life behind the scenes of a private jet’s cabin crew。

Heavily in debt, and earning peanuts as a 'trolley dolly', Saskia Swann desperately needed to get her life back on track。 After a chance meeting, she landed a job as cabin crew - but this time on a private jet。

Suddenly, she found herself transported into the glittering world of oligarchs and billionaires where the hostesses wear Prada, seven-course meals are served on fine china, the bodyguards carry guns, and the mile-high shenanigans not only take place in luxury cabins, but in the cockpit itself。

Saskia soon realised that the job wasn’t quite what it seemed though: her billionaire boss expected far more from his hostesses than just cocktails and nibbles…

In this gripping exposé, Saskia Swann pulls back the first-class curtain on the lifestyles of the mega-rich and famous。

Saskia Swann worked for six years for one of the world's leading airlines before becoming a corporate flight attendant on private jets。 She lives outside London。

Nicola Stow has been a journalist for more than 20 years working for leading newspapers and magazines。 She is also the co-author of Cabin Fever: The Sizzling Secrets of a Virgin Air Hostess by Mandy Smith。

I definitely liked this one。 The prologue just hit different but first chapters were kind of a slow burn for me。 I liked the book overall and I greatly appreciated a peek into the life of a stewardess on a private jet。

I just completed Above and Beyond by Saskia Swann and Nicola Stow。 I received this as an ARC from NetGalley for an honest opinion。 Well I loved this memoir。 Saskia’s life as a flight attendant in service to the ultra wealthy was fascinating and entertaining。 I was amazed at the hours and the tasks the job entailed。 Saskia is funny and smart and presents a unique voice。 I gave this 4 stars and if you love memoirs this one is super fun!

A guilty pleasure of reality show antics, Above and Beyond is a rollercoaster of wit, intrigue, culture, and class issues。 Saskia Swann is a flight attendant to the mega-rich。 With her job comes a range of highs, from staying in luxury hotels, allowances, and designer clothes to the unexpected lows of being asked to do things outside the job description。 Swann and Stow do a fantastic job creating a story arc, making this non-fiction novel read more like fictional storytelling。 The story is well A guilty pleasure of reality show antics, Above and Beyond is a rollercoaster of wit, intrigue, culture, and class issues。 Saskia Swann is a flight attendant to the mega-rich。 With her job comes a range of highs, from staying in luxury hotels, allowances, and designer clothes to the unexpected lows of being asked to do things outside the job description。 Swann and Stow do a fantastic job creating a story arc, making this non-fiction novel read more like fictional storytelling。 The story is well thought out and entertainingly executed, even fascinating。 Saskia as a character is funny and relatable。 Above and Beyond does a remarkable job of showcasing class differences while also suggesting that money cannot bring you happiness。 Some of the wealthy billionaires Saskia encounters appear unfulfilled and lonely。 If you like Gossip Girl and scandalous reality TV, Above and Beyond is a must-read。 。。。more

Thank you NetGalley, Saskia Swann and Nicola Stow and Lume Books for the ARC of Above and Beyond。 This is my personal review。This book was a fun ride on a private jet and learning what goes on in this ultra exclusive world that most of us will never experience。 Going from hardly being able to pay her bills to the world of billionaires is a real eye opener。 Saskia tells us about her life without hiding much about what she saw, heard and did。

The writing style read like your best friend retelling her story。 It was simple and filled with details that the right audience would enjoy (ie。 lots of name drops - fashion designers, jewelry and champagne etc。) I do have questions about this “tell all” when there was repeated mention of tight NDA’s signed with all her employers。 Did they expire? Did the stories change enough that the people are not identifiable? If that’s the case, how much of this is true? Saskia Swann has had a pretty hectic life and it’s definitely worthy of a book (I’m sure it would even make a good movie given the multiple dramatic twists and turns)。 It was a vivid, gripping account of the highs and lows of this decadent lifestyle。 She doesn’t sugarcoat the more difficult parts of her adventures (it was at times very heartbreaking to read about her struggles), but it gives so much depth to her tale, you get a good sense of how far she’s gone。 I found her final words in the epilogue very inspiring。 A great message for strong women out there。 Don’t be scared to chase your dreams, blaze your own trail and live an extraordinary life! 。。。more

I requested this book as someone recommended it on social media。 But for that I don’t think I would have been interested, but I was glad I took the recommendation as this is a bit of everything which makes it a good read。Saskia’s memoir of life in the fast lane as a flight attendant on a private jet is an eye opener to say the least。 Salacious, horrifying, the embarrassment of the riches, glimpse into how the other half life, and possibly how far someone will go to get themselves out of debt。 I I requested this book as someone recommended it on social media。 But for that I don’t think I would have been interested, but I was glad I took the recommendation as this is a bit of everything which makes it a good read。Saskia’s memoir of life in the fast lane as a flight attendant on a private jet is an eye opener to say the least。 Salacious, horrifying, the embarrassment of the riches, glimpse into how the other half life, and possibly how far someone will go to get themselves out of debt。 I didn’t always agree with Saskia’s life choices, but it was Saskia’s life, and as a grown woman they were her choices。 This does not make it a hard read though, I really want to say that this was a fun book, and it is, but there is a dark side being a Private Flight attendant to billionaires although Saskia does come out of it the other end。 And can clearly look back on her life with few regrets。 This may be a bit to trashy for some people, but for me it was a good read and one of the hidden gems from this year。 。。。more
