Basically it is a very odd dramatic version of Americas worse qualities, that connects to the American dream。

I listened to the audio book and didn't pay too close of attention, but it's an interesting portrayal of the 1920s in America。 However, I didn't find the characters too interesting, but other people might! Muito ruim, até o final que é melhor é ruim。 Nem os personagens nem as falas tem profundidade, talvez isso tenha sido o objetivo até, de qualquer forma não gostei。 A falta de um personagem agradável também piora o quadro geral

This is one of the only classics I remember reading in high school that I didn’t find completely painful to get through。 I love this book because you can never be done reading it。 Every time you read it you find something new you didn’t notice before and brings you one step closer to understanding the mind of Fitzgerald。

Gatsby!! The aesthetic!! While a very short story, it manages to be filled with descriptions and plot。 Pretty easy-breezy reading, and it submerges you into the wild 20's。 Gatsby!! The aesthetic!! 。。

The set-up and descriptions are amazing and all of the intertwinement of the lives of the characters is very interesting。 However, I felt something was missing (that I can't really pinpoint) to make it a really spectacular book。Maybe it was just lack of understanding on my side of some of the old English used, who knows。。。 The set-up and descriptions are amazing and all of the intertwinement of the lives of the characters is very interesting。 However, I felt something was missing (that I can't really pinpoint) to make it a really spectacular book。Maybe it was just lack of understanding on my side of some of the old English used, who knows。。。 。。。more

Delightful。 What's great about Gatsby? The emptiness? Or the love he held so dearly? It seems to me each single sentence is written perfectly。 Pure poetry。 Delightful。 What's great about Gatsby? The Great Gatsby wasn’t necessarily a bad book but I think the internet made my expectations of it too high。 I’m glad I finally read it but it’s definitely not something I’ll want to reread。

Amazing book (: Beautiful depiction of love and sadness in the same breath。 One of my favorite high schools reads, and enjoyed it even more the second time

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 loved this。 every1 should read it。 so great yet tragic。 i hate everybody who used gatsby for what benefits they could get from him & never even cared for him。 daisy, you’re annoying。 u should have made ur mind up earlier。 tom, you’re a bastard。 gatsby, you’re a fool who should have been more assertive。 u deserved better。 far better。 you were worth the whole damn bunch put together! #rip ;( probably my new fave book

This is a well written book but I think women are depicted in a really boring way。 They hardly say anything and the author seems to have a cynical view of women。

Zoe Yeomans

I would've appreciated it more if I didnt have to read it on a deadline。 It's a good book with themes still relevant today。 Nick, the narrator, is fun to speculate about。 I would've appreciated it more if I didnt have to read it on a deadline。 It's a good book with themes still relevant today。 Nick, the narrator, is fun to speculate about。 。。。more

Yes it's a great book。 I think however it's also wrongly viewed as a 'love story'。 While, yes there are love triangles everywhere, the main focus of the book in my opinion is the lives of the characters。 Fitzgerald very cleverly writes light into the story, everything is shiny, everything glimmers, there is light reflected in the buttons。 It's more a love letter to the upper class of the roaring 20s。 Even the narrator is part of the elite and we see the world through his eyes。 There are also man Yes it's a great book。 I think however it's also wrongly viewed as a 'love story'。 While, yes there are love triangles everywhere, the main focus of the book in my opinion is the lives of the characters。 Fitzgerald very cleverly writes light into the story, everything is shiny, everything glimmers, there is light reflected in the buttons。 It's more a love letter to the upper class of the roaring 20s。 Even the narrator is part of the elite and we see the world through his eyes。 There are also many undertones of love。 The main love story is a doomed one。 One of them is in love with a fading memory and the other with the possibility of money。 The 20s were also a time of new inventions and technology and they are very interestingly used in the book as a way for us the readers to understand through their eyes what life was like。 The ending is bittersweet in a way but very fitting and realistic without glamorising and romantisicing adultery or tragedy。 。。。more
