I enjoyed this。 Sam and Dead are transported back to the 1950's to retrieve the last pages of the Dead Sea Scrolls that might help to defeat Lucifer。 Well written and the twists work well。 I enjoyed this。 Sam and Dead are transported back to the 1950's to retrieve the last pages of the Dead Sea Scrolls that might help to defeat Lucifer。 Well written and the twists work well。 。。。more

I really feel like the authors of the Supernatural series are trying to hard to make the books like the series but it doing so they are making them into really ridiculous stories。 I had no idea what was going on in this book and Sam and Dean did not sound like the Sam and Dean we know from the show at all。

This is one of the best books in the SPN series so far。 It was surprisingly about the core challenge of season5 (most books have been MOW- monster of the week)。 But then I read the author was Kripke assistant for the first 5 seasons and helped write an episode, it made sense。 She also wrote the next book so I am excited to read it too。 This one focuses on the boys traveling back in time to try to find a missing pages of a Dead Sea scroll to try to stop Lucifer。 The wrap up and reasoning was a bi This is one of the best books in the SPN series so far。 It was surprisingly about the core challenge of season5 (most books have been MOW- monster of the week)。 But then I read the author was Kripke assistant for the first 5 seasons and helped write an episode, it made sense。 She also wrote the next book so I am excited to read it too。 This one focuses on the boys traveling back in time to try to find a missing pages of a Dead Sea scroll to try to stop Lucifer。 The wrap up and reasoning was a bit convoluted。 And involved a character Abaddon (Angel) who actually appears in the show 3 years later as a demon。 Guess the writers of season 8 don’t consider these books canon! But Sam and Dean are true to character and allude to other hunters and networks (which also foreshadows developments in future years in the show) 。。。more

War of the Sons (Supernatural #6) by Rebecca Dessertine and David Reed takes a little too long to get going but once our does it's pretty great。 I really miss watching new episodes of the tv series。 The authors do a good job of getting the tone of both Sam and Dean right which is one of the main things I look for in these tie-in books。 War of the Sons (Supernatural #6) by Rebecca Dessertine and David Reed takes a little too long to get going but once our does it's pretty great。 I really miss watching new episodes of the tv series。 The authors do a good job of getting the tone of both Sam and Dean right which is one of the main things I look for in these tie-in books。 。。。more

What I loved most about this book was the plot。 It was so much fun to read! It had this whole Back to the Future vibe I love and even though it doesn't exactly fit the SPN storyline it was really great。 But as with most of the books, Dean just wasn't Dean。 This Dean was obnoxious and at times flat out mean, and the whole love story thing was。。。kind of weird? I truly enjoyed reading this book and if it wasn't for this version of Dean, I would've rated it five stars。 What I loved most about this book was the plot。 It was so much fun to read! This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 This is probably the worst of the series, which is sad to me, because I really like Season 5 and was looking forward to this book。 Most of the problem is the historical and canon contradictions concerning Abaddon even though the book came out before the TV seasons centering around Abaddon, to be fair。 But the overall discrepancies are just terrible。 For example, earlier in the book, it talks about the tattoo the boys have that keeps them from being possessed。 That's also canon。 Then Eisheth poss This is probably the worst of the series, which is sad to me, because I really like Season 5 and was looking forward to this book。 Most of the problem is the historical and canon contradictions concerning Abaddon even though the book came out before the TV seasons centering around Abaddon, to be fair。 But the overall discrepancies are just terrible。 For example, earlier in the book, it talks about the tattoo the boys have that keeps them from being possessed。 That's also canon。 Then Eisheth possesses Sam at the end to trick Abaddon? WTF? Just。 No。 That's not how it works。 And honey, you supposedly wrote episodes for the show but you don't know that angels do not pee?? They do not poop。 They do not need to eat because they taste only molecules。 As Lucifer remarks in a later season after he loses his grace,"I didn't need dental floss or any of that crap。" They do not have the bodily functions of humans while in their vessels。 The editorial issues are numerous including the spelling of Abaddon correctly sometimes and Abanddon at other times。 Also, Julia slips Dean a piece of paper with a picture of the arch on it in 1954 telling him where they are。 Well, that's really neat because the arch in STL wasn't built until the 60s。 I realize a lot of readers wouldn't know that, but I'm from the STL area so I do。 It seems like something the author should have researched before writing。 In fact, I thought the author was going for a plot twist there, like Julia was also from the future or something。 But no。 It was just a blooper。 It was just a few of these things that completely set me off on the entire book。Basically, if any of the books in the series I haven't read has Dessertine as the author, I will not be reading them。 Period。 。。。more

This was an interesting read。 There was time jump a couple of times but it was written so you weren’t confused about where you were。 A couple of new names involved with the Lucifer/ Sam angle。 Was interesting to note that at one time there seemed to be a larger network of hunters。 I’m curious now to know when hunting actually began。 Who was the first hunter & why?

this was the second Supernatural book I’ve read and I really enjoyed it

This book, for all its ambition, fails to create a cohesive and compelling story。 Part of this is the time traveling convention, which, though interesting and cute at times, introduces more plot problems than it solves。 Dean and Sam are separated for much of the book, effectively eliminating half of what makes the series so great。 The plot itself is a basic maguffin caper that fails at being coherent much of the time and the final “plot twist” makes the whole thing even more incomprehensible。 Ov This book, for all its ambition, fails to create a cohesive and compelling story。 Part of this is the time traveling convention, which, though interesting and cute at times, introduces more plot problems than it solves。 Dean and Sam are separated for much of the book, effectively eliminating half of what makes the series so great。 The plot itself is a basic maguffin caper that fails at being coherent much of the time and the final “plot twist” makes the whole thing even more incomprehensible。 Overall, this book is not good, even compared to others in the series。 。。。more

So far this is definitely the best book in the series。 Probably because the author is a writer on the show itself。

Of the SN books I've read thus far, this one actually probably felt the most like a show episode。 Sam and Dean and the whole angel/demon deal was handled just liked the show's storyline。 My one complaint is though it was only 330 pages long, it felt a good 70 pages or so too long。 Some of the little subplots that did nothing but add pages could have been cut out。 Of the SN books I've read thus far, this one actually probably felt the most like a show episode。 Sam and Dean and the whole angel/demon deal was handled just liked the show's storyline。 My one complaint is though it was only 330 pages long, it felt a good 70 pages or so too long。 Some of the little subplots that did nothing but add pages could have been cut out。 。。。more

i feel like this book was rushed to the printer。 parts of it felt disjointed and the typos were many (mostly grammatical) that a simple read-through would've caught。 the beginning didn't have the right feel for sam and dean and dean's romantic story arc felt forced。 not my favorite of the supernatural books but not the worst。 i feel like this book was rushed to the printer。 parts of it felt disjointed and the typos were many (mostly grammatical) that a simple read-through would've caught。 the beginning didn't have the right feel for sam and dean and dean's romantic story arc felt forced。 not my favorite of the supernatural books but not the worst。 。。。more

It started a bit slow and I was a little skeptical about how the plot would unfold with Don but then WTF TIME TRAVEL?? That threw me, but in a really good way。 Supernatural has done its fair share of time travel stories, but they've always been abrupt and to the point。 We never get to see Sam and Dean really settle into a different era。 Until now。 The Winchesters spend weeks in the New York of 1954。 We get to see them working a pretty high-profile case all with So this was actually really good! Still, it's a really fun read and one of the better entries in the Supernatural book series。 。。。more

Took me awhile to get through this one。 I just couldn’t get into the story initially。 Near the end it started to get interesting but the stuff before it was very boring。 There are a lot of plot points that don’t make sense if you actually watch Supernatural。 This was my first spn novel so I’m hoping the others will be better

I have really enjoyed the series, both novel and television show。 However, this addition to the series was more fan fiction, due to how the series continued the story of Abaddon。 It's full of Dean's lovable pop-culture references, but the majority of them are forced。 The nature of the plot was uncharacteristically humorous, especially for the apocalypse。 The timeline is off and the authors didn't write the characters accurately。 The writing flowed decently, but had an ex machina ending that woul I have really enjoyed the series, both novel and television show。 However, this addition to the series was more fan fiction, due to how the series continued the story of Abaddon。 It's full of Dean's lovable pop-culture references, but the majority of them are forced。 The nature of the plot was uncharacteristically humorous, especially for the apocalypse。 The timeline is off and the authors didn't write the characters accurately。 The writing flowed decently, but had an ex machina ending that would never fit in the series。 If you're okay with a deep feeling of fan fiction, it's an entertaining read, if you want more detail into the show, maybe pick up another book。 。。。more

This book is based on the television series and takes place during the fifth season。 In this one, Sam and Dean go back in time to retrieve a document that shows a way to defeat Lucifer。 If you are a fan of the show you know that it doesn't work out that way。I wasn't particularly fond of this novel and I cannot blame the author for this。 It had some discrepancies with the show and this can be blamed from later seasons of the show that made this book more like fan fiction。 I did like the story but This book is based on the television series and takes place during the fifth season。 In this one, Sam and Dean go back in time to retrieve a document that shows a way to defeat Lucifer。 If you are a fan of the show you know that it doesn't work out that way。I wasn't particularly fond of this novel and I cannot blame the author for this。 It had some discrepancies with the show and this can be blamed from later seasons of the show that made this book more like fan fiction。 I did like the story but I believe the story would have worked with other characters that did not belong from Supernatural。 There was something off thru the entire book。 The first thing was the appearance of Abbadon。 This character is a major character in later seasons so this entire book did not work as this was the character that put things in motion。 Once again, the author was not at fault。 The other problem I had was with the characterization of Dean and Sam。 They were off and I never truly felt like the Sam and Dean I see from the show。I did like the story concept but the pieces that were involved did not fit correctly。 There were just too many pieces that did not work that lowered my rating。 When I read a media tie-in book, I would like to feel like I am back in that universe and I never quite did with this book。 。。。more
