Summary

What if everything we think we know about how the world works--our ideas of love, education, spirituality, work, happiness, and love--are based on Brules (bullsh*t rules) that get passed from generation to generation and are long past their expiration date?

This book teaches you to think like some of the greatest non-conformist minds of our era, to question, challenge, hack, and create new rules for YOUR life so you can define success on your own terms。

The Code of the Extraordinary Mind, a New York Times bestseller, is a blueprint of laws to break us free from the shackles of an ordinary life。 It makes a case that everything we know about the world is shaped by conditioning and habit。 And thus, most people live their lives based on limiting rules and outdated beliefs about pretty much everything--love, work, money, parenting, sex, health, and more--which they inherit and pass on from generation to generation。

But what if you could remove these outdated ideas and start anew? What would your life look like if you could forget the rules of the past, and redefine what happiness, purpose, and success mean for you?

Not Just a Book, but a Movement
Blending computational thinking, integral theory, modern spirituality, evolutionary biology, and humor, personal growth entrepreneur Vishen Lakhiani provides a revolutionary 10-point framework for understanding and enhancing the human self。 You will learn about bending reality。 You will learn how to apply unique models like consciousness engineering to help you learn and grow at speeds like never before。You will learn to make a dent in the universe and discover your quest。 This framework is based on Lakhiani's personal experiences, the 5 million people he's reached through Mindvalley, and 200 hours of interviews and questions posed to incredible minds, including Elon Musk, Richard Branson, Peter Diamandis, Ken Wilber, Dean Kamen, Arianna Huffington, Michael Beckwith, and other legendary leaders。

In a unique fusion of cutting-edge ideas, personal stories, irreverence, and a brilliant teaching style, Lakhiani reveals the 10 powerful laws that form a step-by-step process that you can apply to life to shed years of struggle and elevate yourself to exceptional new heights。

The 10 Laws to an Extraordinary Life
This book challenges conventional ideas of relationships, goal-setting, mindfulness, happiness, and meaning。 In a unique fusion of cutting-edge ideas, personal stories, and humorous irreverence, and not to mention, humor and napkin diagrams, this framework combines computational thinking with personal growth to provide a powerful framework for re-coding yourself--and replacing old, limiting models that hold you back with new, empowering beliefs and behaviors that set you on the path toward an extraordinary life。 A life of more happiness and achievement than you might have dared to dream possible。

Once you discover the code, you will question your limits and realize that there are none。 Step into a new understanding of the world around you and your place in it, and find yourself operating at a new, extraordinary level in every way。。。happiness, purpose, fulfilment, and love。

It was a little slow going at first but then almost about halfway through it really started resonating with me。 I’ve put some of what I learned from this book into practice and I’m really seeing a big difference in my overall quality of life。 It’s small changes, but it’s just。。。realistic。 I’m not a fan of non fiction or self help books but this one I definitely recommend reading。 If you feel it dragging early on just stick with it and it’ll get more interactive as you go。

Well-written and concise。 Useful, vulnerable anecdotes with an engaging voice。 Powerful wisdom on creating life on your own terms。 Since Lakhiani has tried and developed so many different techniques and worked with many leading minds in the world of self-progression, the book also serves as a great introduction to these practices and their experts。That said, Lakhiani is a little(/a lot) high on himself。 If you're able to shake your head and shrug it off to get down to the point he's trying to ma Well-written and concise。 Useful, vulnerable anecdotes with an engaging voice。 Powerful wisdom on creating life on your own terms。 Since Lakhiani has tried and developed so many different techniques and worked with many leading minds in the world of self-progression, the book also serves as a great introduction to these practices and their experts。That said, Lakhiani is a little(/a lot) high on himself。 If you're able to shake your head and shrug it off to get down to the point he's trying to make, you may find something worth considering。 。。。more

never great when a book starts by saying 'this isn't going to be like other books' and is, in fact, like other books。 this was an extremely average self-improvement book filled with far too much large-picture, abstract ideas and little to none practical, steps-you-can-take-right-now content。 its ego filled and fills that infuriating space of 'just abstract enough to be both occasionally inspiring and frequently useless'。 meh never great when a book starts by saying 'this isn't going to be like other books' and is, in fact, like other books。 this was an extremely average self-improvement book filled with far too much large-picture, abstract ideas and little to none practical, steps-you-can-take-right-now content。 its ego filled and fills that infuriating space of 'just abstract enough to be both occasionally inspiring and frequently useless'。 meh 。。。more

Great concepts on maintaining positive momentum in your life。 I really like Mindvalley, and Vishen brings the same energy and focus on how the universe works to this book。 Thank you

Very interesting read and point of view

Not perfect but exceptional in the realm of self improvement。 He has researched and taken the disparate pieces of the theory and philosophy and combined them into a coherent synergistic whole。 I wholeheartedly recommend this book as the best of the genre。

Learn to question yourself, set your own rules, learn to learn and improve yourself, help others, consistently upgrade your life and systems。 Body is like hardware, your consciousness is software。 Upgrade your system, swap it for another one when it doesn't work。 Happiness is a fuel for all of your visions and intensions。 Learn to be fully yourself。 Learn to question yourself, set your own rules, learn to learn and improve yourself, help others, consistently upgrade your life and systems。 Body is like hardware, your consciousness is software。 Upgrade your system, swap it for another one when it doesn't work。 Happiness is a fuel for all of your visions and intensions。 Learn to be fully yourself。 。。。more

I decide to quit after reading the first 2 chapters。I don't feel comfortable seeing lots of intense words like, such as fuxxing, buxxxxit in any book。I don't like reading a book full of quotes from a celebrity's speech and the author's personal life。Most importantly, after reading(partially, of course) this book, I don't want to have the "extraordinary mind" advocated by the author, I want to be an ordinary person。 I decide to quit after reading the first 2 chapters。I don't feel comfortable seeing lots of intense words like, such as fuxxing, buxxxxit in any book。I don't like reading a book full of quotes from a celebrity's speech and the author's personal life。Most importantly, after reading(partially, of course) this book, I don't want to have the "extraordinary mind" advocated by the author, I want to be an ordinary person。 。。。more

Explains how we should not think of ourselves in a certain way because of our culture。 Break away from anything we want as these are bullshit rules that only apply if you let them。 It’s your life , your choice。 So do what you want, how you want and don’t let anyone fuck with you。

Neenz Faleafine

It’s more processes for life and Lakhiani speaks my language。

Roger Lee

I thought it had a few good takeaways。

I have read the entire book, with the constant feeling that they were trying to sell me something (although everything it offers is "free")。 But some concepts seem interesting。 I have read the entire book, with the constant feeling that they were trying to sell me something (although everything it offers is "free")。 But some concepts seem interesting。 。。。more

I usually keep myself at a meter's distance from the in-your-face self-help book genre, and I would even admit that I picked up this book, because of the incessant marketing strategy of the author's company, Mindvalley。 Part of me wanted to have a look-see into the mind of the person who is peddling the latest self-help dictionary。 Here's what I found out about the book and the content it espouses。 Firstly, it's a book that can be easily read, because it's conversational。 In fact, the author mak I usually keep myself at a meter's distance from the in-your-face self-help book genre, and I would even admit that I picked up this book, because of the incessant marketing strategy of the author's company, Mindvalley。 Part of me wanted to have a look-see into the mind of the person who is peddling the latest self-help dictionary。 Here's what I found out about the book and the content it espouses。 Firstly, it's a book that can be easily read, because it's conversational。 In fact, the author makes a point to go so far as to invent new words ( Barney Stinson of the self-help world, perhaps?), to describe concepts of the mind-body paradigm that have been talked about by earlier zen masters, monks, rishis。 That said, the codification of a life that's really your own and free from unnecessary conditioning is structured really well, so the engineers will and have resonated well with it。 The book is a balanced mixture of curated concepts from successful businessmen, teachers, philosophers, and his own life experiences, so he brings forth ideas and people that have influenced him。 For a person dipping their toes into an already crowded sea of self-help, this might be difficult to digest, but easy to read。 For people who understand social conditioning, the need for it, and have a tailor-made version of their reality for their own benefit, this book might be a walk in the park and might introduce you to some cool new references(like Ken Wilbur, Fractals, Dean Kamen, Peter Diamandis) to follow up on。 。。。more

I purchased this book after seeing a video ad, I should’ve done the proper research instead of trusting the credibility of the ad。At first, the context of it seemed intriguing, not to mention that after four years, this was the first book I chose to pick up my reading hobby with。 You can imagine how high the expectations were!Out of the four parts of the book, I couldn’t even finish the second one – I would say that there were many useless details and no significant takeaways, which made it extr I purchased this book after seeing a video ad, I should’ve done the proper research instead of trusting the credibility of the ad。At first, the context of it seemed intriguing, not to mention that after four years, this was the first book I chose to pick up my reading hobby with。 You can imagine how high the expectations were!Out of the four parts of the book, I couldn’t even finish the second one – I would say that there were many useless details and no significant takeaways, which made it extremely difficult and boring to keep reading the same ideas without learning anything new。 。。。more

Not much to say about this one, but I can at least share the few notes I have about it。Here are my raw notes about the book:Take the reverse gap and be grateful for what you achieved make you feel less depressed and happier。Be unfuckwithable。 Make your goals depend on you only。 Avoid goals like "stay close to your friends" because your friends may not want to stay close and it will depend on them。 Not much to say about this one, but I can at least share the few notes I have about it。Here are my raw notes about the book:Take the reverse gap and be grateful for what you achieved make you feel less depressed and happier。Be unfuckwithable。 Make your goals depend on you only。 Avoid goals like "stay close to your friends" because your friends may not want to stay close and it will depend on them。 。。。more

Liked the message, hate the delivery。 The author is unrelatable and constantly name drops。 This book is one long ad for his company MindValley。 There are a lot of other books with the same principals that are worth reading over this one。 Would not recommend。 Read for Sweet Reads book club。
