Bob Books Set 3: Word FamiliesIn Bob Books Set 3, children progress gently into the next steps of reading。 Consonant blends, endings, and a few sight words advance reading skills and create more complex stories。 Use of word families make longer stories more manageable。 Children love the eight books and hilarious pictures。 They delight in two fun-to-do activity books。

This set introduced some r-controlled vowels, silent e endings, and vowel teams。 It had up to two sentences per page, as well as some dialogue。 I felt like it was a good progression from set 2, but I wish they had included more long vowels。

Oh my word you guys- SO SIMPLE, and yet so effective!! My sweet little 4 year old picked this set out at the library last week。。。 Now he is READING!! No joke- they are little and simple and black and white illustrations but to me and my family, now they are beloved!! I say YAY for BOB books! :)

This was our first exposure to BOB books (my husband just picked it up at the library without really knowing what it was) and we like them! I like that it is the easy reading so many of us recognize from when we started reading but it's also a story。 Not just random ideas strewn together。 Maybe the earlier readers would be different but we did like this one。 This was our first exposure to BOB books (my husband just picked it up at the library without really knowing what it was) and we like them! These books take the Dick and Jane stories from our childhood to the next level。 They are fun, funny, and easy for kids to use to become first time readers。 Highly recommend!

I kinda think that BOB Books Set 1: Beginning Readers and BOB Books Set 2: Advancing Beginners was better than this one。 So its a 2。5。 The other boxes had 12 books。 Now this one has 8 with 2 activity books。 Well, I guess its Ok because children can learn from the activities。 And book 2, its spelled lollipops not lolly-pops。 Maybe its so young read can read it。Title: BOB Books Set 3: Word FamiliesAuthor: Bobby Lynn MaslenIllustrator: John R。 Maslen Book#/Title 1: Floppy Mop2: Lolly-Pops3: Frogs4: I kinda think that BOB Books Set 1: Beginning Readers and BOB Books Set 2: Advancing Beginners was better than this one。 So its a 2。5。 The other boxes had 12 books。 Now this one has 8 with 2 activity books。 Well, I guess its Ok because children can learn from the activities。 And book 2, its spelled lollipops not lolly-pops。 Maybe its so young read can read it。Title: BOB Books Set 3: Word FamiliesAuthor: Bobby Lynn MaslenIllustrator: John R。 Maslen Book#/Title 1: Floppy Mop2: Lolly-Pops3: Frogs4: The Red Car5: Summer6: Kittens7: Funny Bunny8: Bed Bugs9: Activities For Books 1-410: Activities For Books 5-8Since I am used to 12 books, it made me think I was missing two books :x 。。。more

Mommy's review - I forget when I first found and started Julia on these books but she read Sets 1-3 and they were a major, major help with her learning to read。 I know she started on this set before kindergarten, I think it was the beginning of preschool。 By the time we should have moved on to sets 4 & 5 she didn't need them。These sets of small books, combined with being read to, talked to and with correctly, and vocab worked taught her all she needed to know to actually read。 She still surprise Mommy's review - I forget when I first found and started Julia on these books but she read Sets 1-3 and they were a major, major help with her learning to read。 I know she started on this set before kindergarten, I think it was the beginning of preschool。 By the time we should have moved on to sets 4 & 5 she didn't need them。These sets of small books, combined with being read to, talked to and with correctly, and vocab worked taught her all she needed to know to actually read。 She still surprises me with words she knows while reading and she's at least two grades beyond most of her classmates。I definitely, definitely, 100% recommend。 。。。more

When my daughter transferred to an academically-focused preschool, we were pleasantly surprised to be introduced to the Bob Book Series。 She began with Set 1 knowing very few sight words。 But we read the books every day, and before we knew it, she had mastered sets 1-5 by the end of the year! Over the summer, she mastered the Kindergarten and First Grade sets as well。 We also purchased the Level 1 books for her, and she LOVES them。 We had her tested with the WJ-III the week before Kindergarten, When my daughter transferred to an academically-focused preschool, we were pleasantly surprised to be introduced to the Bob Book Series。 She began with Set 1 knowing very few sight words。 But we read the books every day, and before we knew it, she had mastered sets 1-5 by the end of the year! Her teacher already has her reading to the class, and she aced the examination they give the children the first week of the Kindergarten to track their progress over the course of the year。 If you are committed to reading with your child every day, the Bob Book sets will give them an advantage over their peers。 This year, I started my three year old on Set One, and she has already mastered the first few books! When she began preschool this year, her teacher gave her the “Break-Out Student” award the first week of school, because she was already a more advanced reader than most of the four-year-olds。 If you are looking for a book series to get your child reading, this is the way to go! 。。。more

I prefer "whole language" readers however, I do like that this series invites the reader to color and to interact with the characters by utilizing the included paper finger puppets。 I prefer "whole language" readers however, I do like that this series invites the reader to color and to interact with the characters by utilizing the included paper finger puppets。 。。。more

This set has only 8 reading books and 2 activity books。 I decided not to use the activity books because I would have to copy and enlarge each page, but I can see where they might be a good learning tool。 The activity instructions could be read by the child and an adult could help explain if necessary。

I'm not 100% sure that this is the right book, but it's the closest that I could find to it。 Anyway, the familiar style of Bobby Lynn Maslen is clearly present here, bringing the youngest emerging readers ever closer to the world of literacy。 I'm not 100% sure that this is the right book, but it's the closest that I could find to it。 Anyway, the familiar style of Bobby Lynn Maslen is clearly present here, bringing the youngest emerging readers ever closer to the world of literacy。 。。。more
