This is a fantastic guide but I'm setting it aside for now because I haven't decided if I want to go this route yet。 This is a fantastic guide but I'm setting it aside for now because I haven't decided if I want to go this route yet。 。。。more

I switched back-and-forth between reading this and listening to his Udemy course。 The chapters line up which makes that convenient。The book has more detail than the course。This is a useful and practical guide to how networks work。 I knew 90% of it already。 But if (like me) you have learnt ad hoc, then you don't know what you don't know。 So a book like this, based on a comprehensive syllabus, fills in the gaps quite satisfyingly。Obviously it's aimed at someone taking the exam, which I'm not doing I switched back-and-forth between reading this and listening to his Udemy course。 The chapters line up which makes that convenient。The book has more detail than the course。This is a useful and practical guide to how networks work。 I knew 90% of it already。 But if (like me) you have learnt ad hoc, then you don't know what you don't know。 So a book like this, based on a comprehensive syllabus, fills in the gaps quite satisfyingly。Obviously it's aimed at someone taking the exam, which I'm not doing。 But it would work well if you were。 He is at great pains to point out how each bit of information he gives would translate in to an exam question。 。。。more

I combined this with Professor Messer's online video course, and managed to pass the Net+ exam with both together。 The book doesn't provide a huge amount more detail than you can get online for free, but is mostly useful if you learn more from reading rather than listening, like I do。 Meyers does cover all the stuff you'll need to know for the exam, and does put in a few amusing asides about his real life experiences in the field, which can make the book a little more entertaining in parts。The e I combined this with Professor Messer's online video course, and managed to pass the Net+ exam with both together。 The book doesn't provide a huge amount more detail than you can get online for free, but is mostly useful if you learn more from reading rather than listening, like I do。 Meyers does cover all the stuff you'll need to know for the exam, and does put in a few amusing asides about his real life experiences in the field, which can make the book a little more entertaining in parts。The end of chapter questions aren't really in the style of CompTIA exams, so I'd recommend a separate practice exam rather than relying on the book。 But the info is contains is pretty useful。 。。。more

Too many examples used mainly for fluff。 I suspect he's the Charles Dickens of CyberSec, getting paid by the word。 Overall good book, though。 Too many examples used mainly for fluff。 I suspect he's the Charles Dickens of CyberSec, getting paid by the word。 Overall good book, though。 。。。more

Pretty useful review material for the Network+ exam

Philip Martinez

Complete Great book, I would recommend it to anyone who wants to acquire and build on their skills with Networks but I would advise studying A+ first。

Victoria

Great foundational resource! Although now out of date for the current test, the foundations stay the same。

Dan Berkowitz

Out of all the cert study guides I read, this one was entertaining and stayed on subject of what to know for the test。

Jim Sandman

This book was extremely helpful towards my passing this Certification。

Lord

I passed my CompTIA Network+ exam today。 This book definitely helped me prepare for it。

Ignacio Sotelo

Un excelente libro que apoya no solo al acompañamiento a la certificación sino como un compendio de lo más destacado en el tema de redes de comunicaciones y un enfoque menor pero no por ello menos importante en seguridad

Fredy Guzman

I have a love/hate for it, its ALOT of info some really good stuff, some extra, some (I think) unnecessary。 Either way I'm looking forward to his online content and his online simulations。 I have a love/hate for it, its ALOT of info some really good stuff, some extra, some (I think) unnecessary。 Either way I'm looking forward to his online content and his online simulations。 。。。more

As good as the A+ one, but I think I'm about twice as burnt out on this shit for this one。 As good as the A+ one, but I think I'm about twice as burnt out on this shit for this one。 。。。more

Great study guideI don’t always rate books, but when I do, they are definitely worth reading。 Amazing book, easy to read and understand to people new to networking。 I would recommend it to anyone starting in networking industry or preparing for Network+ certification。

Mark

I had to take Net+ multiple times。 I do not feel that this book was very good。

Kate

This textbook will expose you to the material, but it is not comprehensive enough to fully prepare you for the 10-006 exam。 The included practice questions are far too simple, and there are many topics that are just glossed over, topics that you need to know to a fine detail in order to pass this exam。

Shirley

Excellent prep guide for the Network+ CompTIA exam。

Tony Smith

Compared to other Network+ books this one stood out to me as being easily understood and thorough, making the subject clear。

Most certification related books are dry as coprolite。 Sometimes you just want drop those books in a steel wastebin, douse them in gasoline and drop in a match。 Mike's books and videos however do not elicit the same feels。 He always brings a little levity to the table and takes the same approach with his videos so you can hop between book and screen with ease。 Informative and enjoyable read。 Most certification related books are dry as coprolite。 Sometimes you just want drop those books in a steel wastebin, douse them in gasoline and drop in a match。 Mike's books and videos however do not elicit the same feels。 He always brings a little levity to the table and takes the same approach with his videos so you can hop between book and screen with ease。 Informative and enjoyable read。 。。。more

Easy to read and digest materials。 Got me to pass my test!

M。

A very good source for the Network+ exam but significantly different from the videos!

Tyler Brooks

Anyone looking to work on their Network + certification is well advised to pick this up。 Michael Meyers does a great job of giving you good info without making it seems like you are reading a technical manual。

Kaylan

I read this from cover to cover as a means to study for the Network+ exam。 While I did not pass the test (I was somewhat close), I really think this is a good book to read if you want to study this particular subject。 I learned a lot and experienced several moments of clarity。 Unlike some instructional/study texts, Michael Meyers does not talk down to the reader or attempt to explain something as he would a five-year-old child。 That is a definite plus for me。

Nicole

Great study guide! Slightly more difficult than the A+ book but still easy to understand。 The exam is booked so know I just have to wait and see if the book did any good in teaching me。Once again Meyers can be wordy and he still has his silly jokes but other then that it's a great book to learn about networking。Edit: Exam passed on 16/5/14 Great study guide! Mikhael Belanger

Great book。 Easy to read and understand。 He made me understand in seconds concepts that my old teacher simply could not explain properly。 Oh, and I got 880/900 on the exam!

Rami Burpee

Just finished first time through。 As a beginner in this field, I definitely felt a bit overwhelmed at certain points and have to read it again。 The material was presented very well, however, and the book felt very complete and thorough。

David Bubar

read this but did not keep up with goodreads。
