Summary

A beautiful guide for learning to love ourselves, from the author of the internationally bestselling The Things You Can See Only When You Slow Down

No one is perfect。 But that doesn't stop us from imagining ourselves smarter, funnier, richer, or thinner, and how much happier we would then be。

Love for Imperfect Things, by the bestselling Korean monk, Haemin Sunim, shows how the path to happiness and peace of mind includes not only strong relationships with others, but also letting go of worries about ourselves。 Packed with his typical spiritual wisdom, Sunim teaches us to embrace our flaws rather than trying to overcome them, and demonstrates that love has very little to do with perfection。

With chapters on self-compassion, relationships, empathy, courage, family, healing, our true nature, and acceptance, as well as beautiful full-colour illustrations, Love for Imperfect Things is a much-needed guide for learning to love ourselves - imperfections and all。

'Universal truths, beautifully expressed, lovingly illustrated 。 。 。 this is a book to keep close at hand' - Mark Williams, co-author of 'Mindfulness: Finding Peace in a Frantic World', on 'The Things You Can See'

'A remarkable gift, a compendium of practical wisdom。 It is accessible brilliance' - Allan Lokos, founder and guiding teacher, Community Meditation Center, NYC, on 'The Things You Can See'

Reading this book feels like your best friend is giving you a warm hug and then you two sit together at the front porch, sipping a cup of hot tea in the chilly morning air while soaking in the warmth of the sun。 It feels so warm, accepting, and peaceful。 I strongly recommend this to those who deal with perfectionism and high-achieving tendencies。 I thank my psychiatrist for sending this book to me, it really helped me with my mental struggles。

This was amazing。 Soothing, calming and comforting but still full of honest and useful insight。 The hardcover version is beautifully illustrated which just made the reading experience all the more magical。 This is definitely one of those books that will stay on my bookshelf so I can read parts of it over again when I need to。

This was like a warm hug from a kind stranger

A good read for light introspection。

Doesn’t confuse you from being selfish and being selfless。 Definitely worth the read。 Graphics - 100/10

I had high expectations for this book as I have had interesting discussions with family and friends on the topic of the value of damaged or worn things, and was looking forward to some deeper insights from this highly educated Buddhist monk。 But, I was really disappointed: Sunim did not have much more to say in this book than the quotes you might find on a calendar!

This book has allowed me to relax and take a step back from busy life to reflect on myself and those around me。 It does not teach you anything explicitly despite the author being a Buddhist and, instead, it provides insight into our daily lives and gives you ideas and inspiration through the authors own personal experiences。 I will definitely re-read certain chapters when I find myself feeling down or stressed。 :)(Oh I would also like to add that the art pages in the book are absolutely lovely!)

Filled with clichés, sometimes it feels as though I am reading a compilation of tweets。 Somewhat superficial but it tries really hard to resonate with its reader。 Some pieces of advice are adequate, most are not。

The second book i've read by Haenim Sunim, just like the previous book, this is a masterpiece, a good food to your soul, and a reminder to your mind。 The second book i've read by Haenim Sunim, just like the previous book, this is a masterpiece, a good food to your soul, and a reminder to your mind。 。。。more

I pray that my humble words can becomea small flame of solace steadily burning in your heart。May they become a friendly smile in this harsh world, and a warm hug to those in agony and pain。Although we are imperfect, and live in an imperfect world, may we continue to love! Again, Haemin Sunim brings us a soft and compassionate slap in the face。 But sometimes we need that here and there。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Love it。 Such a complete package book! There are quotes, writing, and even an illustration。 I feel calm when read this book, like a friend telling a story and give me a life advice。Also, I'm in tears when read the story about how friends of Haenim Sunim told him that he was a precious friend, In general, he told Haenim "It's Allright if you not achieve anything in your life, you still precious to me, you help me a lot during our college life。"Maybe sometimes we see ourselves like nothing and not Love it。 Such a complete package book! Oh I really enjoyed this! It's a quick read as it's mostly quotation style but it's also deep, warm, and thought-provoking。 I don't typically buy books but this is the kind of book I'd buy because it would be valuable to come back to these loving words and teachings often, as needed。 Oh I really enjoyed this!

Loved it。 Reminded me that no matter how low and rubbish I feel, I am enough and I was created to be exactly who I am because I am perfect
