Summary

Leigh Fletcher: happily married stepmum to two gorgeous boys goes missing on Monday。 Her husband Mark says he knows nothing of her whereabouts。 She simply went to work and just never came home。 Their family is shattered。

Kai Janssen: married to wealthy Dutch businessman, Daan, vanishes the same week。 Kai left their luxurious penthouse and glamourous world without a backward glance。 She seemingly evaporated into thin air。 Daan is distraught。

DC Clements knows that people disappear all the time – far too frequently。 Most run away from things, some run towards, others are taken but find their way back。 A sad few never return。 These two women are from very different worlds, their disappearances are unlikely to be connected。 And yet, at a gut level, the DC believes they are。

How could these women walk away from their families, husbands and homes willingly? Clements is determined to unearth the truth, no matter how shocking and devastating it may be。

Thank you to NetGalley for my advanced copy。I have not read any of Adele Parks’ books before but I’ve heard lots of good things。 I had expected a bit more, to be honest。 The plot had a great twist at the beginning and I was excited to get stuck into the story。 However, the pace really fell flat once the mystery had been set up。 It is told, as many books are now a days, from multiple points of view。 There wasn’t much from the detectives and I felt that their relationship/presence wasn’t really ne Thank you to NetGalley for my advanced copy。I have not read any of Adele Parks’ books before but I’ve heard lots of good things。 I had expected a bit more, to be honest。 The plot had a great twist at the beginning and I was excited to get stuck into the story。 However, the pace really fell flat once the mystery had been set up。 It is told, as many books are now a days, from multiple points of view。 There wasn’t much from the detectives and I felt that their relationship/presence wasn’t really necessary。 The two families are clearly portrayed and the relationships between the women was rich。 I just felt that the main part of the plot didn’t really go anywhere。 And as for the development before the ending, well where did that come from? I honestly thought I was reading about an hallucination for the most of it。 The ending also didn’t do it for me。 There was no resolution for the male characters and the female part was quite predictable。 All in all, a mixed bag。 。。。more

First off this is impossible to say anything much about without giving it away ( I think ) so I wont be doing or even hinting at it what the book is about 😎Adele Parks is the biz at writing stories, words reach and grab you and it all flows so brilliantly, so when it is not the best plot/probably even implausible you can forgive it as the writing keeps you fixed, without consideration of giving it up Set as the Pandemic is starting I did like how it was just referenced and had no bearing on the First off this is impossible to say anything much about without giving it away ( I think ) so I wont be doing or even hinting at it what the book is about 😎Adele Parks is the biz at writing stories, words reach and grab you and it all flows so brilliantly, so when it is not the best plot/probably even implausible you can forgive it as the writing keeps you fixed, without consideration of giving it up Set as the Pandemic is starting I did like how it was just referenced and had no bearing on the story but was there, just as part of the life the characters are living, like we all have been doingThe characters are in the main irritating, again can’t say why as will give it away, I guessed the ‘baddy’ early on so no surprises there and once they are unearthed the book ends, abruptlyBut I will say again the use of words, her ability to weave them together and talk to you and entice you with her writing prowess make all the minuses of this book acceptable and it it still for me 8/104 Stars Or a short version would be‘Not her best but the writing is stillace’ 😁 。。。more

I am usually a fan of Adele Parks books but Both Of You wasn’t one of her best。The story had great promise, Leigh, a woman who seems a happily married step mother of two boys goes missing。 Kai, a woman married to a wealthy businessman goes missing the same week。 DC Clements needs to figure out why, two seemingly happy women vanish without a trace。 Are the lives of Leigh and Kai connected in anyway and where are they now?The story took a long time for me to get in to。 It didn’t have the pace Adel I am usually a fan of Adele Parks books but Both Of You wasn’t one of her best。The story had great promise, Leigh, a woman who seems a happily married step mother of two boys goes missing。 Kai, a woman married to a wealthy businessman goes missing the same week。 DC Clements needs to figure out why, two seemingly happy women vanish without a trace。 Are the lives of Leigh and Kai connected in anyway and where are they now?The story took a long time for me to get in to。 It didn’t have the pace Adele Parks books usually does。 I felt my mind wondering whilst reading, instead of being engrossed in the story。 Overall the book/story was just okay。 If someone was wanting to read a book by Adele Parks this wouldn’t be one of hers I would recommend。 Thank you the author, NetGalley and the publisher for gifting me this ARC in exchange for an honest review。 。。。more

It is hard to give too much detail about the storyline of this book without creating a spoiler。 Basically it centres on the disappearance of Leigh (married to Mark with two stepsons)。 Around the same time Kai disappears and her husband Daan calls to report her missing。DC Clements starts to investigate and seems to be the only police officer to consider the cases might be linked and foul play could be involved。 I found the book a little slow paced, it didn’t really grip me in the early chapters。 It is hard to give too much detail about the storyline of this book without creating a spoiler。 Basically it centres on the disappearance of Leigh (married to Mark with two stepsons)。 Around the same time Kai disappears and her husband Daan calls to report her missing。DC Clements starts to investigate and seems to be the only police officer to consider the cases might be linked and foul play could be involved。 I found the book a little slow paced, it didn’t really grip me in the early chapters。 It is told from different points of view and gives a good background to the characters lives。At around 40% in, it started to pick up。 It certainly keeps the reader guessing, with a few twists and turns and red herrings as well。I was disappointed with the ending as I felt it was left a bit open ended and finished abruptly。 Maybe the author had reached her word count, but it would have benefitted from another chapter or two to tie up what I felt were loose ends。 Overall an OK read, some people may enjoy it more but for me it wasn’t anything too special and I rated it a generous 3。5 stars。 。。。more

I loved the pared back nature of the police investigation with seemingly only DC Clements and her young and impressionable sidekick Tanner perturbed by what may prove to be just two more missing persons to add to the depressing statistics of loved ones never to be reunited with their families。 Effortlessly dropped into the narrative these facts and figures add a touch of realism to the events as they unfold。 Never does the investigative element overshadow a plot line that is ALL about the relationships。 This is Parks forte, her arena in which to shine and in this respect she doesn’t disappoint! With Both of You Adele Parks has gone all out with her characterisation, presumably having immense fun imagining the type of characters that realistically fit into the scenarios she’s cunningly plotted。 Capturing every nuance of the husband and wife dynamic and family life with two teenage sons, raking through their relationships from their initial start up to their current status with a fine tooth comb she presents the reader with two starkly contrasting lifestyles so that any forthcoming revelations really do possess the power to astound。 Jealousies, resentments, teenage angst and deception of epic proportions prompt scenes of pure horror, powerlessness and behaviour that verges on evil。 The boundaries between love and hate blur forcing certain individuals to show their true colours leaving some with everything to lose and others with everything to gain。 You may not find any of these characters particularly likeable but boy are they entertaining! Deliberately provocative, Adele Parks turns our perceptions of what it means to be female within a patriarchal society on its head, using outdated attitudes towards sex and marriage to instigate a seismic shift in the balance of power between these male and female characters which is simply brilliant。What I didn’t expect to find myself saying is that unfortunately I spotted the major couple of twists in the plot very early on thereby removing any real element of surprise。 These words may well have had flashing neon signs hanging over them, the clues were that obvious and that is the ONLY reason I’ve deducted half a star from my review。 The red herrings are in evidence but are perhaps slightly too easy to dismiss although moving on in the narrative the author does retain a few surprises up her sleeve。 I love an ending that isn’t neatly parcelled up; the darkness of this storyline remains right up until the very last word。Few authors can rival Adele Parks when it comes to her observational skills in relation to familial and marital relationships。 Her eloquent and intelligent prose which is often thought provoking too means she remains one of my all time favourite authors。 I never miss an opportunity to read a new Adele Parks novel, always zooming through the pages with ease and barring the fact that on this occasion the truth was too thinly disguised my love of this author’s writing is undiminished。 My thanks as always to the publisher and Netgalley for giving me the opportunity to read in exchange for an honest review。 。。。more

I enjoyed this book it was easy to read and it made you want to keep turning the pages。 It also kept you guessing throughout, something which Adele Parkes often does very well。 To begin with I did question where the book was going or if it was going to keep my attention however once I’d got about thirty percent through it everything happens at a fast pace and I couldn’t put it down。 I gave it three stars as I did enjoy it however it wasn’t particularly rememberable。 I also didn’t particularly li I enjoyed this book it was easy to read and it made you want to keep turning the pages。 It also kept you guessing throughout, something which Adele Parkes often does very well。 To begin with I did question where the book was going or if it was going to keep my attention however once I’d got about thirty percent through it everything happens at a fast pace and I couldn’t put it down。 I gave it three stars as I did enjoy it however it wasn’t particularly rememberable。 I also didn’t particularly like any of the characters and found them all a little bit too self entitled。 This book is definitely a read。 。。。more

A pacy thriller from Adele Parks。 Leigh is married to Mark and Stepmum to Oli and Seb。Kai is married to Daan。Both women disappear in the same week。The husdands are distraught as is Leigh's best friend Fiona。DC Clements is on the case with her sidekick Tanner。 What has happened to them?I really enjoyed this up until the end。 I thought it was a little predictable。 Told from different points of view you just want to know who did it。 I found it compelling reading and couldn't put it down。The ending A pacy thriller from Adele Parks。 Leigh is married to Mark and Stepmum to Oli and Seb。Kai is married to Daan。Both women disappear in the same week。The husdands are distraught as is Leigh's best friend Fiona。DC Clements is on the case with her sidekick Tanner。 What has happened to them?I really enjoyed this up until the end。 I thought it was a little predictable。 Told from different points of view you just want to know who did it。 I found it compelling reading and couldn't put it down。The ending isn't nicely sown up and you have to draw your own conclusion which is fine。Thanks to Netgalley and HQ for the ARC 。。。more

Leigh is happily married to Mark and is stepmum to his two boys。 Kai is happily married to handsome, wealthy Dutch businessman, Daan。 Leigh doesn't return home from work and has not been in contact。 On the same day, Kai leaves her luxury penthouse apartment and doesn't return。 DC Clements, initially investigating a missing person, is intrigued to find both women went missing at the same time。 Is there a connection? The plot may sound straightforward but Adele Parks has done it again。 A storyline Leigh is happily married to Mark and is stepmum to his two boys。 Kai is happily married to handsome, wealthy Dutch businessman, Daan。 Leigh doesn't return home from work and has not been in contact。 On the same day, Kai leaves her luxury penthouse apartment and doesn't return。 DC Clements, initially investigating a missing person, is intrigued to find both women went missing at the same time。 Is there a connection? I found this book to be a page turner and I wanted to keep reading once I had started。 I really enjoyed the writers style。 Whilst I kept guessing and changing my mind throughout, I did not see the ending coming。 There were also surprises and plot twists during the story which kept me drawn into the book and finding it hard to put it down。Thank you to the author, publisher and Netgalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review。

A compelling read! This story is full of twists and turns and kept me gripped to the end! Two women go missing one is a step mum of two boys and the other is the wife of a rich Dutch businessman , the tale that ensues is fast paced , enthralling and chaotic。 The writing is the calibre that I have come to expect from Adele Parks , the characters are not affable in their nature and doubt is cast upon most of them。 DC Clements’ narrative was an enlightening one and also the facts and figures of mis A compelling read! Another great book from Adele Parkes。 Leigh Fletcher and her friend Fiona have been friends for years and know everything about one another。 They are at the park having a picnic when Leigh notices a little boy fall and hurt himself。 She rushes to the aid of the dad, Mark and over time they become romantically involved and marry。 She is stepmom to two boys and loves the family dynamic。 One day she goes missing。 She works away from home part of the week and does not return when expected。 Mark repo Another great book from Adele Parkes。 Leigh Fletcher and her friend Fiona have been friends for years and know everything about one another。 They are at the park having a picnic when Leigh notices a little boy fall and hurt himself。 She rushes to the aid of the dad, Mark and over time they become romantically involved and marry。 She is stepmom to two boys and loves the family dynamic。 One day she goes missing。 She works away from home part of the week and does not return when expected。 Mark reports her missing and DC Clements gets involved with looking for her。 At the same time a wealthy businessman, Daan Janssen, reports his wife missing。 DC Clements visits both men and asks for photographs of their wives。 Daan Janssen’s wife, Kai, is the same person as Leigh, Mark’s wife。 Neither of them know about the other and both are completely broken hearted when they find out that Leigh/Kai has married both。 Both men come from different worlds, Mark plodding along with his wife and children living an easy life and Daan having wealth and able to spoil Kai completely。 Has she run away from the drama of trying to live two lives or is there more to the story。 The story begins to unfold in a way I was not expecting。 It twists and turns and the ending was not what I expected – it did leave me thinking a sequel would work 。。。more

Yet again Adele completely delivers in a mind-blowing, epic, physically gasp while you read drama。A complete shock factor in this one which makes you just not able to put this book down, even for a second。A missing wife and mother shakes a family as they believed they had a happy family life。 A few miles away another missing woman is reported also。 Cue to chaos, drama, shock, twists, turns and everything else in between。 Its devastatingly brilliant。
