This is a perfect book for Israel right now。 The vocabulary is easy for him to understand and the material is fun and engaging and right at his level。 He seemed to really enjoy his first Magic Tree House book and I think there will be more in our reading future。 These books are a nice way to use the imagination and also learn something about history and science。

I don't know how I never read this series as a kid! It's right up my alley, and I enjoyed it even now as an adult。 Of course, I am a huge dinosaur nerd, so that might have something to do with it。I've heard there is a graphic novel adaptation coming out soon for this book。 and I think I will probably enjoy it even more that way。 I don't know how I never read this series as a kid! haha, i had an extra 10 minutes at work, so i reread this。 this series was a HUGE part of my childhood!! i loved these books so much。 everyday after school, my mom would take my brother and i to the library to get these。 i would always sit down and read them with my brother and it was so special to us because we related soo much to jack and annie。 my brother can’t read at all so he grew to hate school and books, but reading together was something he grew to love ❤️ i’ll probably keep rereading t haha, i had an extra 10 minutes at work, so i reread this。 this series was a HUGE part of my childhood!! i loved these books so much。 everyday after school, my mom would take my brother and i to the library to get these。 i would always sit down and read them with my brother and it was so special to us because we related soo much to jack and annie。 my brother can’t read at all so he grew to hate school and books, but reading together was something he grew to love ❤️ i’ll probably keep rereading these at work, but i probably won’t review/rate all of them。 they are just very nostalgic and i hope to read them to my kids in the future :) 。。。more

This rating is from my 6 year old。 He loved the story and wanted to jump right into the second book。 The plot is simple, story is short and the pictures every 2 or 3 pages were perfect to keep his attention。 I like the true facts that are integrated through out the story so he is learning something as well as using his imagination。

3。5/5 starsI read this book out loud to a group of 1st graders in a book club setting。 I loved this series at their age so it was fun to revisit it as an adult。 It was not the first book we read together as a small group, but it was the first where I began incorporating pre-reading skills。 I read the back of the book (my movie trailer voice is always a big hit for this) and we looked at the cover and made predictions based on what we saw。Some of the things we covered during the reading included 3。5/5 starsI read this book out loud to a group of 1st graders in a book club setting。 I loved this series at their age so it was fun to revisit it as an adult。 It was not the first book we read together as a small group, but it was the first where I began incorporating pre-reading skills。 I read the back of the book (my movie trailer voice is always a big hit for this) and we looked at the cover and made predictions based on what we saw。Some of the things we covered during the reading included different types of dinosaurs, what different types of dinosaurs eat, what is a medallion, and comparing how the characters are feeling to how we would feel in their place。 My students that were into dinosaurs were very excited to share their knowledge as we read。I remember my dad reading this series to me when I was a kid, and so the parts at the beginning and end where Jack and Annie enter the treehouse, get transported to their new world, then go home at the end were familiar。 The chapters are bite-sized and ideal for readers transitioning to the chapter book format。 This series is great at "sneaky teaching" where facts and information are incorporated into the story without sounding too academic/lecture-y。 。。。more

Dinosaurs Before Dark from the Magic Treehouse Series is a historical fiction book for kids ages 6-11 years old。 This story follows Jack and Annie who find a treehouse that takes them back in time to the land of dinosaurs。 With the help of a dinosaur research book found in the treehouse, they are able to navigate their way through the world uneaten and learn a lot along the way。 The writing style of this book is enthralling and easy for kids to read。 The occasional illustration keep the reader e Dinosaurs Before Dark from the Magic Treehouse Series is a historical fiction book for kids ages 6-11 years old。 This story follows Jack and Annie who find a treehouse that takes them back in time to the land of dinosaurs。 With the help of a dinosaur research book found in the treehouse, they are able to navigate their way through the world uneaten and learn a lot along the way。 The writing style of this book is enthralling and easy for kids to read。 The occasional illustration keep the reader entertained and captivated by this educationally thrilling book。 Younger kids might not enjoy this book or the series very much as it is more heavily based on the reading aspect rather than the visuals and pictures。 This book is a great start to help get kids passionate about history。 。。。more

kiddo (7, first-grade) was into this because they're currently into anything dinosaurs。 They found the second half pretty stressful and scary, but as it was short we were able to read to the end and resolve the scary feelings。 They said to rate it 4 stars, and I agree。 The writing was pretty simple, but as it's clearly aimed at beginning chapter-book readers I'm willing to accept that as necessary。 kiddo (7, first-grade) was into this because they're currently into anything dinosaurs。 They found the second half pretty stressful and scary, but as it was short we were able to read to the end and resolve the scary feelings。 They said to rate it 4 stars, and I agree。 The writing was pretty simple, but as it's clearly aimed at beginning chapter-book readers I'm willing to accept that as necessary。 。。。more

Dinosaurs before dark is an awesome beginning to the magic tree house series。 Jack and Annie are siblings who live in Pennsylvania。 They travel back in time and see dinosaurs and adventure through them。 It's fun and educational and moves at an appropriate pace。 I enjoyed this book as it was an easy read for me and fun to remember these kinds of books。 There are no diverse characters。 I would recommend this book for second to fourth graders。 Dinosaurs before dark is an awesome beginning to the magic tree house series。 Jack and Annie are siblings who live in Pennsylvania。 They travel back in time and see dinosaurs and adventure through them。 It's fun and educational and moves at an appropriate pace。 I enjoyed this book as it was an easy read for me and fun to remember these kinds of books。 There are no diverse characters。 I would recommend this book for second to fourth graders。 。。。more

"Dinosaurs Before Dark" is a great first chapter book for elementary students! It is full of dialogue between characters and excellent descriptions of the setting that allows the reader to visualize what's going on very easily。 The story is very intriguing, as well as educational! I remember reading this series when I was younger, I was reminded of the author and the series and I had to reread this book。 The author brings adventure into the story perfectly and the pictures throughout bring the story to life。 Absolutely love this author and the amazing books。

I liked best when Jack found dinosaurs and he had a sister。 My most favorite part was when they got back home。

No disrespect meant by the rating。。。 I’ve heard so much about these books but my oldest didn’t really get into them, so I knew little about their content。 Reading through it with my 2nd wasn’t nearly as exciting as I expected - reminding myself that it’s simply at a different reading level than I have been doing with him, which is great for him! Maybe it’s one he will pick up on his own more quickly, then。 We shall see。

I absolutely loved the Magic Treehouse series as a kid。 I always felt the stories benefited students in both reading comprehension, and in some other form of lesson。 This first one does a fun exposure of historic elements such as dinosaurs into the world。

Magic Tree House was always such a fun book that I loved to read。 I loved all the adventure and it made me want to go on crazy adventure even if they were a little scary at time。

Enjoy this book as a read aloud in 1st grade。 Perfect pacing and structure for an advanced 1st grade reader。 Vivid characterization。 Exciting twists and turns。 Pairs well with the non-fiction "Magic Tree House Fact Tracker" all about dinosaurs。 This is a perfect series to start your elementary school student on chapter books, no matter how old they are。 Enjoy this book as a read aloud in 1st grade。 Perfect pacing and structure for an advanced 1st grade reader。 Vivid characterization。 Exciting twists and turns。 Pairs well with the non-fiction "Magic Tree House Fact Tracker" all about dinosaurs。 This is a perfect series to start your elementary school student on chapter books, no matter how old they are。 。。。more

This works have been better 1-2 years ago (when I bought this book)。 Writing is a little simple and story too formulaic for me and my 8 year old。If you like dinosaurs this is a good start but we had already enjoyed the Dinosaur Cove series and I found the characters, storyline and information better in that series。We will try number 2。

This was our first chapter book read aloud with Nora, just shy of her fourth birthday。 She was able to follow the story and was excited for our chapters each day。 Hopefully, it will be the start of a new chapter in her reading life。
