Summary

Set in a kingdom where danger lurks beneath the sea, mermaids seek vengeance with song, and magic is a choice。

She will reign。

As princess of the island kingdom Visidia, Amora Montara has spent her entire life training to be High Animancer — the master of souls。 The rest of the realm can choose their magic, but for Amora, it’s never been a choice。 To secure her place as heir to the throne, she must prove her mastery of the monarchy’s dangerous soul magic。

When her demonstration goes awry, Amora is forced to flee。 She strikes a deal with Bastian, a mysterious pirate: he’ll help her prove she’s fit to rule, if she’ll help him reclaim his stolen magic。

But sailing the kingdom holds more wonder — and more peril — than Amora anticipated。 A destructive new magic is on the rise, and if Amora is to conquer it, she’ll need to face legendary monsters, cross paths with vengeful mermaids, and deal with a stow-away she never expected… or risk the fate of Visidia and lose the crown forever。

I am the right choice。 The only choice。 And I will protect my kingdom。

Absolutely adored this book! A definite must read! Fast paced with a super fun plot and awesome action scenes。 You’ve got pirates, you’ve got mermaids, magic and curses。 POC representation and queer representation。 Extremely likeable characters and a really good amount of romance without it overshadowing the plot!!

We meet Amora, who finds out that her aunt makes a bargain that jeopardizes Amira’s chance to demonstrate her power and take on the role of a ruler。 Her failure leads her to run away with a dashing and questionable pirate and she goes on an adventure to find how to fix her magic and save her kingdom。 Along the way we meet members of her will be friends and crew and come to learn how she hopes to share all types of magic with her kingdom。 It’s a good book。 I enjoy the adventure as opposed to the We meet Amora, who finds out that her aunt makes a bargain that jeopardizes Amira’s chance to demonstrate her power and take on the role of a ruler。 Her failure leads her to run away with a dashing and questionable pirate and she goes on an adventure to find how to fix her magic and save her kingdom。 Along the way we meet members of her will be friends and crew and come to learn how she hopes to share all types of magic with her kingdom。 It’s a good book。 I enjoy the adventure as opposed to the usual finding a suitor to be a true queen traditional saga。 Would recommend。 。。。more

This was a pleasant surprise。 As I said before as I get older YA is either hit or miss for me and this one was definitely a hit。 *Finally heroine who is not afraid to go and get her hand dirty。 And I was living for it because I am quite tired of a heroine who when somebody tries to kill them/harm them, they spare them or feel bad if they have to kill them/harm them。 *The romance was good, I was rooting for them and smiling when they have scenes together。 ♥*True, the story is not very original, b This was a pleasant surprise。 As I said before as I get older YA is either hit or miss for me and this one was definitely a hit。 *Finally heroine who is not afraid to go and get her hand dirty。 And I was living for it because I am quite tired of a heroine who when somebody tries to kill them/harm them, they spare them or feel bad if they have to kill them/harm them。 *The romance was good, I was rooting for them and smiling when they have scenes together。 ♥*True, the story is not very original, but it has adventure, pirates, mermaids, and blood magic。 I enjoyed Adalyn's writing。 The story was nicely paced and was enjoyable。*Though I will say, that it felt, that two main side characters were there just so Amora could use them, I did notice that especially with the second character, but they were still very enjoyable。 。。。more

Right from the start, I loved the world building。 This book has a good balance between both world building and dialogue, which I love! I also loved the magical powers aspect and how the book was written in only one POV, which was first person。 That’s my favorite! All the Stars and Teeth follows our main character Amora, princess of the island kingdom Visidia。 The story begins on the day of her demonstration, where she will display her magic to her people。 Her performance must be perfect, or else she may not be seen as fit for the role of High Animancer: the master of souls。 However, when the demonstration goes wrong, Amora is forced to turn to Bastian。 Though their journey becomes much more than helping Amora reclaim her rightful position as ruler of Vis All the Stars and Teeth follows our main character Amora, princess of the island kingdom Visidia。 The story begins on the day of her demonstration, where she will display her magic to her people。 Her performance must be perfect, or else she may not be seen as fit for the role of High Animancer: the master of souls。 However, when the demonstration goes wrong, Amora is forced to turn to Bastian。 Though their journey becomes much more than helping Amora reclaim her rightful position as ruler of Visidia。 After discovering a new type of magic, something much darker than ever seen before, Amora, Bastian, an unexpected stowaway, and a mermaid must fight for the future of Visidia。 Throughout their journey, the truths of many lies are unfolded, and the crew finds that there is more to their magic than what they had thought。 I absolutely loved the plot and execution of this book。 It was such a thrilling, quick-paced read。 From beginning to end, there wasn't a single moment that I wasn't hooked。 It was exciting to see the development of both the characters and the magic system。 Adalyn Grace's writing style is so beautiful, and the way she was able to develop her world so well is amazing。 One of my favorite parts was learning about the magic found in Visidia, and the ways the different islands impacted the plot。 Vataea and Bastian were my favorite characters! I loved Vataea's personality and demeanor。 Bastian's humor made the story so entertaining, but I also enjoyed the depth of his character。 I admire Amora's pride in her position as the princess and her determination to save the future of her people。 Personally, I didn't exactly care for Ferrick, but he wasn't awful。 The villain of the story was written so well, and I also loved the complexity of his character。 Overall, this was a super fun read and I am excited to see what the sequel is all about! 4/5 stars 。。。more

I really really enjoyed it! I loved the plot and the characters so much! Also, I loved how there was romance but it was very subtly mentioned and not the whole plot。

I'm really glad I loved this as much as I did; I had high expectations for it。 Also, another book set on the high seas, with a pirate and lots of magic (and this one has a mermaid!)Looking forward to book 2 and at least it's already out, so I don't have to wait too long。 :) I'm really glad I loved this as much as I did; I had high expectations for it。 Also, another book set on the high seas, with a pirate and lots of magic (and this one has a mermaid!)Looking forward to book 2 and at least it's already out, so I don't have to wait too long。 :) 。。。more

I’m very sorry to say this, but I just couldn’t get into the story。 THE COVER IS SO GORGEOUS and I’m really sad that I didn’t click with the story。Maybe it’s because I’m not the biggest fan of high and mighty princesses。 I mean Amora kinda had it all and even very powerful magic, but I just didn’t like her。This was also one of those fantasy books with very fantasy names。Amora, Ferrick, Vataea and many more。Especially Vataea。。。 Sorry but how am I going to pronounce that。 She was probably my favou I’m very sorry to say this, but I just couldn’t get into the story。 THE COVER IS SO GORGEOUS and I’m really sad that I didn’t click with the story。Maybe it’s because I’m not the biggest fan of high and mighty princesses。 I mean Amora kinda had it all and even very powerful magic, but I just didn’t like her。This was also one of those fantasy books with very fantasy names。Amora, Ferrick, Vataea and many more。Especially Vataea。。。 Sorry but how am I going to pronounce that。 She was probably my favourite character, but there wasn’t any big backstory。 Maybe I was expecting more drama or more banter or something。 It was all really serious。 I really missed this connection with the characters。 They missed hobbies or like little things they do every now and then。So I was just expecting more。 In that way I can maybe say it reminded me of Caraval, because that’s another book I couldn’t get into。 。。。more

This book deserves 4。5 starts but that’s not accepted in goodreads。 The magic the kingdoms, the mermaids all of it so alluring。 I am excited to get started on book 2, Adalyn Grace is now one of my new favorite Authors。 Her writing style is so imaginative like how do you write that good? this book was a let down for me, now I don't think that this book was terrible I think I just had really high expectations going in。 I thought this book was going to be thrilling and a dashing pirate yarn but in reality this book felt rushed and had some really dull moments。 For one the pacing felt off, major character conflicts were solved in a matter of pages and it felt like the characters growth only happened at the end but got set back again。 Another thing I felt was that too much was cramm this book was a let down for me, now I don't think that this book was terrible I think I just had really high expectations going in。 I thought this book was going to be thrilling and a dashing pirate yarn but in reality this book felt rushed and had some really dull moments。 For one the pacing felt off, major character conflicts were solved in a matter of pages and it felt like the characters growth only happened at the end but got set back again。 Another thing I felt was that too much was crammed into this book in too short of a time, as soon as I got over my confusion of the world building hundreds of other things had already happened。 Overall: 3/5 StarsCharacters: 3/5Setting: 5/5Writing: 4/5Plot and Themes: 2/5 。。。more

*3。5The second half was definitely better than the first, so it gets another half-star。 Ultimately I was super hyped for this book, but I feel a little underwhelmed。 It's missing a lot of depth to it I feel, but it's still a really entertaining read and I'm gonna be finishing the duology because I wanna see how Amora and Bastien fare! 。。。more
