Summary

THE INTERNATIONAL BESTSELLER AND A REESE WITHERSPOON HELLO SUNSHINE BOOK CLUB PICK

“Will keep you up。 In a ‘can’t put it down’ way。 It’s ‘The Talented Mr。 Ripley’ with XX chromosomes。” —The Skimm

“Deliciously duplicitous。 。 。 。 equally as twisty, spellbinding, and addictive as Gillian Flynn’s Gone Girl or Paula Hawkins’s The Girl on the Train。” —Library Journal (starred review)

Amber Patterson is fed up。 She’s tired of being a nobody: a plain, invisible woman who blends into the background。 She deserves more—a life of money and power like the one blond-haired, blue-eyed goddess Daphne Parrish takes for granted。

To everyone in the exclusive town of Bishops Harbor, Connecticut, Daphne—a socialite and philanthropist—and her real-estate mogul husband, Jackson, are a couple straight out of a fairy tale。

Amber’s envy could eat her alive 。 。 。 if she didn't have a plan。 Amber uses Daphne’s compassion and caring to insinuate herself into the family’s life—the first step in a meticulous scheme to undermine her。 Before long, Amber is Daphne’s closest confidante, traveling to Europe with the Parrishes and their lovely young daughters, and growing closer to Jackson。 But a skeleton from her past may undermine everything that Amber has worked towards, and if it is discovered, her well-laid plan may fall to pieces。

With shocking turns and dark secrets that will keep you guessing until the very end, The Last Mrs。 Parrish is a fresh, juicy, and utterly addictive thriller from a diabolically imaginative talent。

I love love loved Daphne’s accounts of her absolutely evil husband and what was on the other side of all of Amber’s “tricks”。 The book was going super well until the climax。 I just thought it was It’s crazy how talented these authors are: First you are rooting for Amber with a little bit of guilt towards Daphne, but since Amber is the one who is narrating you just want to root for her but then just like that you turn around and you root (completely) for Daphne and would wage a war in her honor! Great page turner up until that point!!!!!!!!! 。。。more

I really liked the beginning of this book just really getting into how awful and manipulative Amber is。 You feel sorry for Daphne but revel in how good Amber is at working her way into these people's lives。 Halfway through the book they switch to Daphne's perspective, which is good, because the Amber story is getting a little stale。 Then Daphne's story just blows everything out of the water and you see everything in a whole new light and it's awesome。 This one had me staying up way too late to r I really liked the beginning of this book just really getting into how awful and manipulative Amber is。 You feel sorry for Daphne but revel in how good Amber is at working her way into these people's lives。 Halfway through the book they switch to Daphne's perspective, which is good, because the Amber story is getting a little stale。 Then Daphne's story just blows everything out of the water and you see everything in a whole new light and it's awesome。 This one had me staying up way too late to read。 The only thing I didn't love was I didn't think Daphne would do so much face-to-face retaliation with Jackson at the end。 I feel like anyone who has suffered that long from just never really wants to see that person again, even if it is to give them what's coming to them。 You probably can't get rid of the feeling that they can still ruin your life if you have any interaction with them, IMO。 。。。more

This book was a pleasant surprise! I had a little trouble getting started。 I think that was more my failing than the book’s。 A lot of books seem to be a lot more of the same lately。 This one provides an interesting switch up。 I really enjoyed it。 I would absolutely recommend。

3。5/4 stars。 A little slow to get into (Amber annoyed me) but once it got to Daphne’s POV I couldn’t put it down。

*4。5* This has been on my WTR list for 2 years now and it did not disappoint! People say this is “exactly like” The Wife Between Us but I think it’s so much better。 Really hard to put down! Wish I had saved it for the beach。

This is definitely going in the best books I’ve read in 2021 pile。 The behaviour of Amber sucks you in right away because how could anyone be that sociopathic, and then all of a suddenly massive twist leaves you’re devouring every page to find out what happens!

This book was such an easy and enjoyable read。 It tells the story of a young girl, Amber, trying to manipulate her way into the lives of the super rich, in particular, a couple by the name of Jackson and Daphne Parrish。 The book is split up into two perspectives, the first being in the perspective of Amber (the outsider trying to weasel her way in) and the second being Daphne Parrish (wife of the extremely wealthy CEO, Jackson)。 In terms of twists and turns, there really aren’t that many。 I’d sa This book was such an easy and enjoyable read。 It tells the story of a young girl, Amber, trying to manipulate her way into the lives of the super rich, in particular, a couple by the name of Jackson and Daphne Parrish。 The book is split up into two perspectives, the first being in the perspective of Amber (the outsider trying to weasel her way in) and the second being Daphne Parrish (wife of the extremely wealthy CEO, Jackson)。 In terms of twists and turns, there really aren’t that many。 I’d say there was only two, and I found them both to be semi-predictable。It did keep me entertained and I couldn’t put it down - but that was mostly due to the writing style and detailed language that made me feel as though I was lounging at the pool with Amber and Daphne at the Parrish Estate, or enjoying a glass of 1987 vintage Cabernet at the Bishops Harbor Country Club。 This book was perfect for what I was looking for - a quick summer read to devour by the pool。 。。。more

Did not finish。 Typically I will push through a rough storyline to find out what happens in the end, but with this book I found the main character in the first part of the book to be so insufferable and the plot to be so one-dimensional I couldn't continue。 Did not finish。 Typically I will push through a rough storyline to find out what happens in the end, but with this book I found the main character in the first part of the book to be so insufferable and the plot to be so one-dimensional I couldn't continue。 。。。more

How often do you find a novel that you don't like any of the main characters? Here it is。 The first part of the book is from Amber's perspective。 Poor Amber! Never mind! She's beyond ambitious。 She is posing as a friend to Daphne, with an entire fake history, but she is actually trying to get Daphne's husband, the rich and handsome Jackson。 Jackson is unaware of Amber's machinations, but don't think of him as a manipulated man。 This man is a serious sexual deviant。 The second part of the book is How often do you find a novel that you don't like any of the main characters? Lengva, nesunkiai suvokiama istorija apie moters norą praturtėti。 Pakankamai išraiškingi, kontrastingi personažai, siužetinės linijos įtikinamos tiek, kiek jos gali būti tokiomis。 Visgi, pirma kūrinio pusė buvo žymiai stipresnė。 Tiek Amber charakteris, tiek jos linija ėjo koja kojon, tačiau pasikeitus perspektyvai ir pradėjus pasakojimą iš Dafnės, siužetas prigeso ir tos pirminės energijos, užsivedimo, kuriuo vedina veikė Amber – neliko。 O būtent tai įvardyčiau šios istorijos varikliu。 Nepaisant Lengva, nesunkiai suvokiama istorija apie moters norą praturtėti。 Pakankamai išraiškingi, kontrastingi personažai, siužetinės linijos įtikinamos tiek, kiek jos gali būti tokiomis。 Visgi, pirma kūrinio pusė buvo žymiai stipresnė。 Tiek Amber charakteris, tiek jos linija ėjo koja kojon, tačiau pasikeitus perspektyvai ir pradėjus pasakojimą iš Dafnės, siužetas prigeso ir tos pirminės energijos, užsivedimo, kuriuo vedina veikė Amber – neliko。 O būtent tai įvardyčiau šios istorijos varikliu。 Nepaisant to, silpniausia knygos dalimi tampa scenų struktūra。 Čia jos buvo per greitos, pernelyg mažai išvystytos, o ypač pritrūko emocinės raidos, vedančios nuo skyriaus prie skyriaus。 Kuo labiau knyga artėjo prie pabaigos, tuo labiau ėmė rodytis, kad atsiranda vis daugiau nepagrįsto skubėjimo, kuris lėmė tam tikrus loginius neatitikimus。 Pabaigai pasirinktas itin banalus kelias, nors egzistavo dešimtys skirtingų variantų kaip viskas galėtų užsibaigti kur kas įdomiau。Vertinu šitaip labiau dėl pirmos knygos pusės, kuri tikrai buvo nebloga。 。。。more

This was just okay for me。 I LOVED the second half (that’s what made it a 4) but the first half seemed like a chore to get through。 It is worth it though just to see the madness that ensues once the POV switched。 If you’re into thrillers, you’ll probably like this。
