Given to us by a friend who was an elementary school teacher, this has been one of our children's favorite books -- endearing and enduring。 Science and art are a beautiful combo here with Ehlert's signature collage style。 Given to us by a friend who was an elementary school teacher, this has been one of our children's favorite books -- endearing and enduring。 Science and art are a beautiful combo here with Ehlert's signature collage style。 。。。more

Emily

Classic Ehlert with beautiful flowers that are both graphically simplified yet true to the specific species she names within the text。

A nice gardening story, with the bold brilliance of a flower garden truly captured by the bright, graphic illustrations。 I love the concept of a mother and child planning out a rainbow of a garden and the introduction to different types of flowers, as well as how to plant a garden in general。 My kids love learning about growing plants so they enjoyed this as well。

Genre: Informational NonfictionReading Level: K-2Such a simple, but beautiful book。 The pictures are very child friendly with all the colors and there are not too many words on the page which makes this book an easy read for children。 This book was a very entertaining and easy read。 I enjoyed it very much and I think children should read it also。 It doesn't give too much information on planting, it just shows how beautiful gardening can be。 It could be a wonderful read to a young child。 Genre: Informational NonfictionReading Level: K-2Such a simple, but beautiful book。 The pictures are very child friendly with all the colors and there are not too many words on the page which makes this book an easy read for children。 This book was a very entertaining and easy read。 I enjoyed it very much and I think children should read it also。 It doesn't give too much information on planting, it just shows how beautiful gardening can be。 It could be a wonderful read to a young child。 。。。more

A mother and daughter are planting bulbs, seeds, and seedlings, and then watch them grow into a rainbow of flowers with all of their diverse colors。 This book is great for children in the age range of four to eight years old。 I would use this while accompanying an activity such as planting flowers which are common around mother's day。 Or for a science portion in the class as an activity as well。 A mother and daughter are planting bulbs, seeds, and seedlings, and then watch them grow into a rainbow of flowers with all of their diverse colors。 This book is great for children in the age range of four to eight years old。 I would use this while accompanying an activity such as planting flowers which are common around mother's day。 Or for a science portion in the class as an activity as well。 。。。more
