I always love seeing early concept art and sketches for the games I enjoy, and this was no exception。 Plus they added notes for most of the pieces from some of the artists who had a hand in creating them, and we get a better understanding of some of the processes they had to go through to get the images to work within the video game setting。 I really wish I had some of the concept paintings for my walls, all of them are stunning but there are a few that are just over the top breathtaking。

This was a fun and different "read", as this is essentially a collection of concept art and some rough draft Computer Generated Imagery (CGI) works for the Mass Effect Andromeda videogame by the digital artists who sculpted the game。 Very beautiful art。 Makes me appreciate the game and the universe even more。 One of my closest friends actually works with one of these artists and I was able to give her positive feedback through him as a proxy, which I think is pretty cool!Mass Effect is an amazin This was a fun and different "read", as this is essentially a collection of concept art and some rough draft Computer Generated Imagery (CGI) works for the Mass Effect Andromeda videogame by the digital artists who sculpted the game。 Very beautiful art。 Makes me appreciate the game and the universe even more。 One of my closest friends actually works with one of these artists and I was able to give her positive feedback through him as a proxy, which I think is pretty cool!Mass Effect is an amazing universe and if you are a fan (or sci-fi in general) you will really enjoy this。 。。。more

Pretty thorough, but I wanted to have a bit more on the overall Remnant design, which was terribly lacking。 Great art overall。

After the genuinely terrible Mass Effect 3 and the tedious Star Wars: The Old Republic, BioWare games are dead to me。 But the one thing I’ve liked regardless of the games themselves is the art。 The designs are always interesting, blending classic sci-fi movies into new designs。 (I love the robot Legion, which is a brilliant melding of the xenomorphs from Aliens and the cyborgs of Terminator。)So I was never interested in playing this addition to the ME franchise, but I did want to see the new con After the genuinely terrible Mass Effect 3 and the tedious Star Wars: The Old Republic, BioWare games are dead to me。 But the one thing I’ve liked regardless of the games themselves is the art。 The designs are always interesting, blending classic sci-fi movies into new designs。 (I love the robot Legion, which is a brilliant melding of the xenomorphs from Aliens and the cyborgs of Terminator。)So I was never interested in playing this addition to the ME franchise, but I did want to see the new concepts they came up with。 This book mostly scratches that itch, with lots of cool new iterations on classic ME designs and brand-new stuff。Unfortunately it’s fairly skimpy compared to similar books。 I don’t know if that means the game is smaller than previous installments, but that seems to be the case based on this。 It’s now about 2 years after release and all I recall about it was that it was a sales disappointment and very buggy。 Maybe due to being so limited in scope? Anyway, some very cool landscapes and character designs here, with only a few pieces spanning two pages to lose art in the valley。 There’s very little behind-the-scenes info given other than a couple lines about each overall design。 。。。more

Beautiful book。 My only negative (and this really isn't the book's fault) is that I felt like a majority of the early designs were better than the final designs that were used in the game。 Beautiful book。 My only negative (and this really isn't the book's fault) is that I felt like a majority of the early designs were better than the final designs that were used in the game。 。。。more

I think I'm one of the very, VERY few that legitimately liked Mass Effect: Andromeda。 Yes, I'm aware of it's flaws and the tedious vaults you had to go through, but as a whole I enjoyed the hell out of the game。 Know what else I enjoyed the hell out of? This book。 Obviously。 It was great to see the different designs of the angara and kett before they settled on a final look, as well as the different types of armor tried out。 I would've liked to see more text explaining the designs, especially an I think I'm one of the very, VERY few that legitimately liked Mass Effect: Andromeda。 Yes, I'm aware of it's flaws and the tedious vaults you had to go through, but as a whole I enjoyed the hell out of the game。 Know what else I enjoyed the hell out of? New galaxy, equally good artwork。The Mass Effect artbooks are generally of good quality and so is this one。 The ME Andromeda artbook hits all the highlights from architecture, creature design and armour ascetics。 In addition small blurbs of info give extra context information or just a fun anecdote of the design face of the game。 In all an enjoyable read with stunning artwork and good contextual information。

The art is gorgeous, but I wish there were more interesting information about the various sketches。 They briefly explained pretty much everything, but I wish they had gone into more detail about inspirations or angles they took to design things。 I love the layout and the concepts。

Fantastic。 Exactly the kind of thing I was hoping for from The Art of the Mass Effect Universe。 Tons of cool concept art, lots of up-close details on the armor, beautiful concept paintings for the various planets。 Good stuff。As with all good concept art books, it's very interesting to see some of the ideas they never really went with。 (Aspects of Havarl, for instance, were reappropriated for Habitat 7, something the book doesn't actually make note of。)Unless you absolutely hated the game, if you Fantastic。 Exactly the kind of thing I was hoping for from The Art of the Mass Effect Universe。 Tons of cool concept art, lots of up-close details on the armor, beautiful concept paintings for the various planets。 Good stuff。As with all good concept art books, it's very interesting to see some of the ideas they never really went with。 (Aspects of Havarl, for instance, were reappropriated for Habitat 7, something the book doesn't actually make note of。)Unless you absolutely hated the game, if you're a Mass Effect fan or a fan of sci-fi art, this book is really great。 。。。more

You can read my full review here。Overall, I really enjoyed reading this book, and gazing wistfully at the gorgeous alien landscapes created by the team at BioWare。 I wished for a little bit more info in the descriptions about the various choices, thematic approaches they were working to achieve etc。, but I have no complaints about the art itself。My review copy was a pdf, but this definitely deserves to be a hardcover so you can glance through it often。 You can read my full review here。Overall, I really enjoyed reading this book, and gazing wistfully at the gorgeous alien landscapes created by the team at BioWare。 I wished for a little bit more info in the descriptions about the various choices, thematic approaches they were working to achieve etc。, but I have no complaints about the art itself。My review copy was a pdf, but this definitely deserves to be a hardcover so you can glance through it often。 。。。more

This art book does not have significant text given; you receive small blurbs and anecdotes rather than deep information。 It also does not show many sketches and has a lot of hyper-realistic digital paintings, especially in the sections dedicated to planets and locations。 Personally I do prefer art books with more text, and do understand from an artistic perspective that a wider variety of artwork is interesting and beneficial (not to mention early concepts excite me!), but I am content with what This art book does not have significant text given; you receive small blurbs and anecdotes rather than deep information。 It also does not show many sketches and has a lot of hyper-realistic digital paintings, especially in the sections dedicated to planets and locations。 Personally I do prefer art books with more text, and do understand from an artistic perspective that a wider variety of artwork is interesting and beneficial (not to mention early concepts excite me!), but I am content with what The Art of Mass Effect: Andromeda delivers。 The digital paints are rather intriguing to look at, and I would say that this art book is fairly similar and what I would expect compared to what the other Mass Effect art books have delivered。 If you liked The Art of the Mass Effect Universe, then this is of similar caliber and interest。 。。。more

It's great at showing the various character designs and environmental art。 The only thing I would have liked is more detail on how they came up with the default Ryders' appearances。 Some beautiful artwork in this。 It's great at showing the various character designs and environmental art。 The only thing I would have liked is more detail on how they came up with the default Ryders' appearances。 Some beautiful artwork in this。 。。。more

I love seeing all the different designs that could have been for the characters and places。 It's interesting to see what got rejected, since I think a lot of the designs that didn't get used were pretty cool。 I love seeing all the different designs that could have been for the characters and places。 It's interesting to see what got rejected, since I think a lot of the designs that didn't get used were pretty cool。 。。。more

A nice insight into the designs of Mass Effect Andromeda。 Having read the other Mass Effect art books, I don't think the descriptions in this were as detailed。 However, there seemed to be a lot more images per page。 A nice insight into the designs of Mass Effect Andromeda。 Having read the other Mass Effect art books, I don't think the descriptions in this were as detailed。 However, there seemed to be a lot more images per page。 。。。more
