Summary

Weaning your baby on to solid foods is one of the most important milestones during the early months of parenthood, and Gina's expert advice on weaning makes a baby's transition from milk to solid foods as straightforward as possible。 Successful weaning establishes a pattern of healthy eating in babies, avoiding the pitfalls of fussy eaters restricted to a narrow diet。

In this revised edition of The Contented Little Baby Book of Weaning, Gina includes the latest recommendations regarding breast-feeding and the introduction of solid food from the World Health Organisation and the UK Department of Health。 She aims to take the worry out of weaning, guiding parents step-by-step through the process and shares the insight and expertise gained from personally helping to care for over 300 babies, and advising thousands more parents via her consultation service and website。

Included in this revised edition:
- The best time of day to introduce the first solid food
- Which foods to introduce and at what age
- Getting the balance of milk feeds and solids right
- How to eliminate night feeds once solids are introduced
- The importance of introducing finger foods at the right age
- Extended parent-friendly feeding plans to take parents step-by-step through the different stages
- Newly developed rotating meal planners for older children up to the end of the first year
- Brand new questions and answers giving the most up-to-date advice to parents。
The Contented Little Baby Book of Weaning is the definitive guide to ensuring babies eat well now and as they grow up and is as relevant and helpful to those parents who have not previously followed Gina's routines。

Worked fantastic with my daughter。 Make sure to read all the intro, don't try to shortcut and only read the schedules。。。 Worked fantastic with my daughter。 Make sure to read all the intro, don't try to shortcut and only read the schedules。。。 。。。more

This is a good introduction to weaning, with plenty of recipes and tips on food/milk requirements at each age up to 1 year。 The menu plans and milk feeding suggestions are very prescriptive and too strict for me, but would work as a starting point upon which to establish your own routine。

I got this book to help me to understand the weaning process as I plan to wean my baby at 6 months per the DoH guidelines, however did not find this book very helpful at all。 Although it acknowledges the advice that you should wait until 6 months, it quickly becomes clear that the author believes you should wean earlier as lots of advice is given on early weaning with just a brief acknowledgement of what to do if you are waiting。 Also this book is only really helpful if you have already read the I got this book to help me to understand the weaning process as I plan to wean my baby at 6 months per the DoH guidelines, however did not find this book very helpful at all。 Although it acknowledges the advice that you should wait until 6 months, it quickly becomes clear that the author believes you should wean earlier as lots of advice is given on early weaning with just a brief acknowledgement of what to do if you are waiting。 Also this book is only really helpful if you have already read the other books by Gina Ford (which I haven’t) and you are following her feeding schedule (which I am not) as all the guidance is set around her prescribed feeding times。Probably a great book for any one following Gina Fords other books but not great otherwise。 。。。more

Following on from The Contented Little Baby Book, this one follows the same routine but explains baby eating habits, what to feed and when to give it。 I found most of the recipes easy to make and my baby didn't really fuss too much (yet) some of the meals have actually become family favourites。 Following on from The Contented Little Baby Book, this one follows the same routine but explains baby eating habits, what to feed and when to give it。 I found most of the recipes easy to make and my baby didn't really fuss too much (yet) some of the meals have actually become family favourites。 。。。more

I loved this book, being a first time mum。。。it helped me understand the basics。 I used this book with my first son and it worked like a charm。 He is now 2 and eats like a champion!

Being a fan of there sleep guide book (which is packed with info), I find the weaning guide a bit too watered down。 I hope to see more information on foods and nutrition。 Also, being an asian, the amount to feed my new born was WAY TOO MUCH。 I had to cut about 50% of her recommended intake。 But I'm glad I picked this book up ;) Helped me a lot through the very confusing transition。 Being a fan of there sleep guide book (which is packed with info), I find the weaning guide a bit too watered down。 I hope to see more information on foods and nutrition。 Also, being an asian, the amount to feed my new born was WAY TOO MUCH。 I had to cut about 50% of her recommended intake。 But I'm glad I picked this book up ;) Helped me a lot through the very confusing transition。 。。。more

I really liked the information about making your own baby food and all the recipes。 I didn't really follow her feeding schedule though as I already had my own less strict schedule that I liked。 I really liked the information about making your own baby food and all the recipes。 I didn't really follow her feeding schedule though as I already had my own less strict schedule that I liked。 。。。more
