This was quite the conclusion！ Things didn’t turn out quite as I thought they would。 I suspected it would end the way it did， but I did not think it would happen the way it did。 I really enjoyed reading this series and seeing everything unfold。

Très bon manga， enquête prenante même si parfois capillotractée。 Certains passages sont très durs à lire et à comprendre， je ne sais pas si c'est à cause de la traduction ou juste la manière dont est expliquée l'intrigue。。。 Quand un personnage se met à expliquer que A a fait ceci mais que B s'y attendait donc B a changé ses plans mais A aussi sans que B ne le sache sauf qu'on apprend plus tard qu'en fait B le savait et avait changé son plan à la dernière minute pour y pallier。。。 ça fait beaucoup Très bon manga， enquête prenante même si parfois capillotractée。 Certains passages sont très durs à lire et à comprendre， je ne sais pas si c'est à cause de la traduction ou juste la manière dont est expliquée l'intrigue。。。 Quand un personnage se met à expliquer que A a fait ceci mais que B s'y attendait donc B a changé ses plans mais A aussi sans que B ne le sache sauf qu'on apprend plus tard qu'en fait B le savait et avait changé son plan à la dernière minute pour y pallier。。。 ça fait beaucoup trop d'informations à traiter en l'espace de quelques pages et j'ai personnellement eu du mal avec ça。Graphismes au top， ça frise la 3D parfois。 Design des personnages incroyable （surtout Ryuk） mais traitement des personnages féminins horrible。 Misa et Takada n'ont comme trait de personnalité le seul fait d'être puériles et orgueilleuses， elles sont en soi dispensables à l'intrigue et auraient pu être remplacées par d'autres personnages sans problème。 Apparemment c'est un souci récurrent chez cet auteur et c'est dommage。Concernant la fin （view spoiler）[je l'ai trouvée un poil anticlimatique， en soi que tout se termine dans cet entrepôt était logique mais j'espérais quand même un truc plus grandiose que ça。 Contente cela étant que Light ait eu la mort pitoyable qu'il méritait， c'était un personnage intéressant mais pas si bien construit que ça selon moi， on sent que l'auteur a essayé de faire un travail intéressant sur le manichéisme mais ça tombe un peu à l'eau parfois， c'est moins réussi que dans Attaque des Titans à mon sens。 Toujours pas remise de la mort de L， j'espérais réellement que ce n'était qu'une mise en scène et qu'il allait revenir par la suite， le personnage était vraiment intéressant et aurait mérité de terminer le manga en vie。 （hide spoiler）] 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it， click here。 Okay so Mikami was not entirely foolish。 The comments I made in the review of Vol 11 make sense now。 Mikami acted the way he did upon orders from his God。 It was Light's set up to overthrow Near。 And in the end， Light lost。 I really really want to know how the story would have panned out had Light won。 It's left to my imagination。 I would be lying if I said I'm on Near's team。。。 The points Light made regarding this world were convincing if not for the fact that his method was downright cruel and Okay so Mikami was not entirely foolish。 The comments I made in the review of Vol 11 make sense now。 Mikami acted the way he did upon orders from his God。 It was Light's set up to overthrow Near。 And in the end， Light lost。 I really really want to know how the story would have panned out had Light won。 It's left to my imagination。 I would be lying if I said I'm on Near's team。。。 The points Light made regarding this world were convincing if not for the fact that his method was downright cruel and morally wrong。 Then again， who set these morals and standards？ We did。 And we follow the rules we set。 The irony。 Yet therein lies a sense of safety that guarantees peace to us all while following these rules。 And if someone breaks these rules， we know that they'd be apprehended and put in jail and punished for their crimes。 But when we learn of the crimes they committed， the severity， wouldn't we be compelled to wish upon those criminals， the Death Penalty？ "Oh， he/she deserves to die for killing so-and-so brutally" - isn't this what we think even if we don't voice the same？Even while thinking so， I would say that all roads to Hell were paved with good intentions。 Yet， Hell is one place no one would choose to go。 Light said that when we eliminate pests， why is it wrong to eliminate humans who act like pests。。。 It was a sound argument but ultimately， it isn't feasible or advisable to kill off every criminal， is it？ This series gives me conflicted feelings and emotions regarding the rights and wrongs of our society。 Well， I'll be harsh and say this - Kira is right but the path he chose was wrong。 Proven。Light could've won but Near was just that one inch ahead of him。 I would call it luck because as said in the book， even Near didn't think of another Notebook hidden safely until Mello acted and sacrified himself， an act which let Near know the missing piece of the Kira puzzle。This was one hell of a ride。 Now， I'll rest。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it， click here。 Man， how do I write the review the best way？ The art is amazing throughout this whole volume， every frame seems to be very well thought out。 The story and its pacing is amazing as well， really one of the best if not the best volume of the series。 To let the cat out of the back first: I never understood until this day why Light lost。 Changing the pages of the notebook is such a cheap idea - Mikami should have just ripped a page out for safety and kill the SPK and the policmen then。 But in the end Man， how do I write the review the best way？ The art is amazing throughout this whole volume， every frame seems to be very well thought out。 The story and its pacing is amazing as well， really one of the best if not the best volume of the series。 To let the cat out of the back first: I never understood until this day why Light lost。 Changing the pages of the notebook is such a cheap idea - Mikami should have just ripped a page out for safety and kill the SPK and the policmen then。 But in the end， you can say that it was the mistake of Mikami or better: the mistake of Light that he delegates the tasks of Kira to another individual。 One of the best scenes of the whole series is the breakdown of Light。 Almost the whole time， he's calm and knows （or acts like he does） what needs to be done。 But now he's pathetic und tries to get out of the situation just somehow。 Trying to kill Near is the last straw he has， even though he don't see that Near's death wouldn't help him。 Even is charisma which he counted on many times in the series can't help him now。 It is so obvious that he lost his mind at this point。 At the beginning of the finale， he thinks to himself that he never would confess his crimes but in the end， he admits that he was Kira - it shows us that it was his ego that got in his way。 Another fantastic scene is the death of Light， especially with those two black pages at the end， symbolising the finality of death。 The throwback of him from the beginning of the story hurts me where he was still innocent and not a mindless serial killer （I agree with Near's assessment here）。I feel so sorry for Matsuda that he believed in Light until the end。 But him shooting Light is honestly my favorite scene of the manga。 It shows how much Matusda adored Light's father and how hard the loss is for him。 This scene is so amazingly powerful and emotional， I can't handle it。 Ryuk is amazing in this volume as well。 He finally shows his true self which we already could see sometimes throughout the series。 He's really scary here and not funny at all。 Him killing Light was only reasonable from his point of view and it felt kind of inevaitable。 I ddidn't want Near to win from the beginning， in my opinion it should be L's win。 But it is better that Near won than Light。 And I see Near's victory partly as a victory for the police and they were the forces I hoped to win。 After this re-read， I have noticed that my love for the series has faded away the last years。 Now that I am more mature， I can't overlook the problems the series has， mainly the representation of women。 It's just not as fun when there is not one character that I can identify myself with。 It's the first time as well that I noticed how disgusting Light truely is。 For this reasons， I enjoyed the Yotsuba arc the most where Light is his true self and not Kira anymore。 Overall， it is still a really good manga series， especially story wise and a good manga for beginners。 When averaging all volumes， I come to a rating of 3。9！ 。。。more
