Summary

The first kidnappings happened two hundred years before。 Some years it was two boys taken, some years two girls, sometimes one of each。 But if at first the choices seemed random, soon the pattern became clear。 One was always beautiful and good, the child every parent wanted as their own。 The other was homely and odd, an outcast from birth。 An opposing pair, plucked from youth and spirited away。

This year, best friends Sophie and Agatha are about to discover where all the lost children go: the fabled School for Good & Evil, where ordinary boys and girls are trained to be fairy tale heroes and villains。 As the most beautiful girl in Gavaldon, Sophie has dreamed of being kidnapped into an enchanted world her whole life。 With her pink dresses, glass slippers, and devotion to good deeds, she knows she’ll earn top marks at the School for Good and graduate a storybook princess。 Meanwhile Agatha, with her shapeless black frocks, wicked pet cat, and dislike of nearly everyone, seems a natural fit for the School for Evil。

But when the two girls are swept into the Endless Woods, they find their fortunes reversed—Sophie’s dumped in the School for Evil to take Uglification, Death Curses, and Henchmen Training, while Agatha finds herself in the School For Good, thrust amongst handsome princes and fair maidens for classes in Princess Etiquette and Animal Communication。。 But what if the mistake is actually the first clue to discovering who Sophie and Agatha really are…?

The overall idea of not being entirely good or evil is great。 Overall, the book was just ok。。。it will be interesting to see what they do with the movie。

I literally forgot all about these! Definitely trash books but I have really distinct memories of reading the first book over and over because I didn’t know how to get the others 😂

This books were my favorite as a kid and upon re-read, the first book is still delightfully trope-y but still teaches lessons without shoving them down the reader’s throat。 It holds up well enough that even as an adult, I still thoroughly enjoyed my reading experience。

I don't know what I expected from this book, but it wasn't to be THIS GOOD。A Series of Unfortunate Events meets Judy Moody, and as a treat it delivers the best corruption arc ever。We, the readers, can see right through the charaters, we know EXACTLY what will happen and it doesn't even matter。 The journey is all there is。 Can't wait to see where it leads Sansa and Ary- I MEAN, Sophie and Agatha。 I don't know what I expected from this book, but it wasn't to be THIS GOOD。A Series of Unfortunate Events meets Judy Moody, and as a treat it delivers the best corruption arc ever。We, the readers, can see right through the charaters, we know EXACTLY what will happen and it doesn't even matter。 The journey is all there is。 Can't wait to see where it leads Sansa and Ary- I MEAN, Sophie and Agatha。 。。。more

Good burst into a chant of “EVERS RULE! EVERS RULE! EVERS—”“ARE STUPID, ARROGANT FOOLS!” Castor boomed, and the Evers shut up。 So ig this book was really fun and not a huge fan of evers I gotta say, though it did have flaws。。。 “Wait。 So if a girl doesn’t get asked to the Ball, then she fails and suffers a punishment worse than death。 But if a boy doesn’t go to the Ball, he gets half ranks? How is that fair!”My point being that is totally unfair, and in the book, the evers are shown in the Good burst into a chant of “EVERS RULE! EVERS RULE! For a middle school book, I'm not gonna lie but this was kinda dope。 I mean why didn't I know about this when I was in year 6 or whatever。 It's like although the answers were obvious, I feel like for the correct age group it may have stumped them。If I had to describe the book I would say it is a descendants meets Zombies book, you'll know when you read it。Also like for a middle school book it was actually kinda deep if you think about it。 For a middle school book, I'm not gonna lie but this was kinda dope。 I mean why didn't I know about this when I was in year 6 or whatever。 It's like although the answers were obvious, I feel like for the correct age group it may have stumped them。If I had to describe the book I would say it is a descendants meets Zombies book, you'll know when you read it。Also like for a middle school book it was actually kinda deep if you think about it。 。。。more

A great book about fairytales。 It’s a twist on how fairytales are even created。

This is a GREAT book。 I loved the kiss at the end, probably because it was lesbian。 I loved the idea of the school, like the two buildings and the classes。 I think it was cool that Sophie and Agatha broke the stereotypes。 But like the map on the first page, I stared at it while reading the hole book。 The book was great, and I recommended for everyone who likes fantasy。

This book is easily one of my favorite books。 The storyline is so good it really takes you to a whole new world。 I dont really read much fantasy, but this one needs to be given a shot。 Especially if you liked fairytales as a kid because this book really puts a spin on those classic tales you enjoyed growing up。 Will be reading this again soon

I really liked this book! It did a great job of making me hate certain characters, and there were some good twists throughout。 The one thing I was consistently confused on was whether there is supposed to be romance between Sophie and Agatha, as those were the undertones I picked up throughout the entire book, especially that scene at the end。 Definitely curious to continue with this series!

Lady-of-the-dark

I really enjoyed reading this book and loved the first 50% of it。 However, theres something about the pacing of this book that i find very intresting and confusing at the same time because it reads as a farytale, but at the same time has the structure and lenght of a novel。 Its kind weird but the story its worth enjoying so we can move pass that。The ending is strange too。。。 I dont know why, but it ended to abruptly for me

AMAZING。PERFECTION。TOTALLY WORTH READING

I wanted to like this book more than I did。 I found myself lost at times with the details of the story but enjoyed the messages that were integrated about heroes and being a hero in your own story。 I did find myself rooting for Sophie and Agatha as they tried to solve what was going on at the school。 I will continue to the next book to continue the story。

ok so originally i was thinking about giving this 4 stars maybe, like a 7-8/10 but the ending!! it was plot twists after plot twists (well except for the last 2/3 pages i kinda so that coming, but still enjoined it)it’s a super light read and very ever after high-ish。
