Why, God, why did I come up with such an idea to read this book in the first place? While some may find 'secrets' or leadership values that probably won't work in today's ever-changing landscape of work, I find the storytelling technique terrifyingly cultlike。The book, first published in 2005, is an offspring and updated version of Ken Blanchard's most successful title, The One Minute Manager。 It explores the ideology of the 'One Minute' leadership style that involves setting Goals, giving Prais Why, God, why did I come up with such an idea to read this book in the first place? Classic refresher。 Quick read even for a slow poke like me。

Some good advice but the writing style is incredibly elementary and cheesy。 Very quick read but probably could have been distilled down even further。

i read this for my work management course but i actually really love how the ideal leadership role is portrayed

Quick read。 Recommended by the AU leadership course。 It was ok, but nothing too new or insightful。

The book provides many important tools that would seem practical for most of the readers。 While reading self help catergory nonfiction books, that's a major criteria I tend to seek in them。 If it sounds all abstract and philosophical, much outside the boundary of practicality, I tend to shut that book down。 Thankfully, this book wasn't like that at all。 I'm really grateful to the author for writing this up。 The book provides many important tools that would seem practical for most of the readers。 While reading self help catergory nonfiction books, that's a major criteria I tend to seek in them。 If it sounds all abstract and philosophical, much outside the boundary of practicality, I tend to shut that book down。 Thankfully, this book wasn't like that at all。 I'm really grateful to the author for writing this up。 。。。more

A Re-read as I’ve started a new job and want to introduce this to some of my team。I love the principles but hate the format。 I don’t need the fictional scenario to see it’s merits。Others will disagree and will always recommend as a learning tool for those getting into management

It is definitely not something you can just copy paste to your work, but it is a fine and short (for a book) reminder of importance of several leadership topics- setting clear and concise goals- providing feedback, good and bad- growing your team members

This books really is a simple book which tell you to have One minute goalsOne minute praisin, andOne minute re- direct。Everyone who is moving to management role should read this book as this gives insight on many things。 It's an interesting read because the author tries to cover all the points with the help of the story。 This is must read for modern times。 This books really is a simple book which tell you to have One minute goalsOne minute praisin, andOne minute re- direct。Everyone who is moving to management role should read this book as this gives insight on many things。 It's an interesting read because the author tries to cover all the points with the help of the story。 This is must read for modern times。 。。。more

Constantly referring to "the one minute manager" as "quite a guy" is a bit off putting。 It comes off as something like a cult。 The general principals are good, but the execution leaves a bit to be desired。 I also feel that, for as shortas this book is, the main character shouldn't be left out。 With Blanchard identifying each of the people teaching a lesson, I didn't like that the main person was "a young manager"。 Why not provide a name? Why not give some background。 The book is a very fast and Constantly referring to "the one minute manager" as "quite a guy" is a bit off putting。 It comes off as something like a cult。 The general principals are good, but the execution leaves a bit to be desired。 I also feel that, for as shortas this book is, the main character shouldn't be left out。 With Blanchard identifying each of the people teaching a lesson, I didn't like that the main person was "a young manager"。 Why not provide a name? This is an easy 2-5 page essay on how to manage taught in a seventy page story。While I do consider those type of stories to be creative and nice since people learn more and easier from stories。。。this story is so bad I would rather had read the 5 page essay 14 times in a row。That being said I have no idea about the efficacy of the ideas that this proposes。 This is is not a review about the ideas but about the story。

Helped me read my own mind, I also like the way this book is written, time to time summary and a cheat sheet at the end of the book helps refer it back。

Interesting writing style。 Though the 1 minute manager has only 3 points to remember, it does requires analogies and explanations in why it works。 And these 3 points were laid out in a story。 Interesting take。 The book could be a lot more shorter but that wouldn't be as fun。 It don't think it would've sank in。 But because it's written as a story, with real life analogies, I understand much better。 It almost I can see the why it works, the reasoning/real life analogies itself。 Kudos to the author Interesting writing style。 Though the 1 minute manager has only 3 points to remember, it does requires analogies and explanations in why it works。 And these 3 points were laid out in a story。 Interesting take。 The book could be a lot more shorter but that wouldn't be as fun。 It don't think it would've sank in。 But because it's written as a story, with real life analogies, I understand much better。 It almost I can see the why it works, the reasoning/real life analogies itself。 Kudos to the authors。 I can also see why not everyone will like this book。 。。。more

I really enjoyed the technique outlined in this book - it's pretty obvious once stated, and intuitive, yet not something that people do by default。 I didn't give this 5 stars because it's just so short, and it would have been useful to have a little more fleshing out and examples。 I really enjoyed the technique outlined in this book - it's pretty obvious once stated, and intuitive, yet not something that people do by default。 I didn't give this 5 stars because it's just so short, and it would have been useful to have a little more fleshing out and examples。 。。。more

The lessons from this book are helpful and easy to understand。 The rating reflects what I think is most helpful about this book:the transferability of the skills to teachers, parents etc。 HOWEVER, if I was reading it, rather than listening to it, I don’t think I could have finished。 The language used is so simplistic and the same message is repeated over and over。 It makes me wonder:the managers who’d benefit from it, what are they managing?!?

Kaspars Seglins

Basically same as One Minute Manager

Michael Vincent

An excellent, readable tool to train others in positive leadership at all levels。 There is much application for the three secrets。 One minute goals, one minutes praises and one minute re-directs。 So much more you could say in each of these areas, but the authors boil down the essentials well。 I would encourage all who want to grow in their leadership and godly influence of others to read this book。

5 stars。 I really liked the original One Minute Manager, but this book is fantastic! A must read for every manager! How to be kind, real, consistent。 Guide employees in choosing goals and exceeding them, and then how to show someone else how to meet their goals! Outstanding!

The writing style felt very juvenile but I did pick up a few things。

Some good concepts but written in such a cheesy way。 I suppose to help you remember and understand it better。 Quick easy read。

Short and to the point。 Also enjoyably told in Parable style。
