como se relacionam uns com os outros。 Mesmo sendo uma edição mais "parada" do que as anteriores， Lemire consegue jogar mais elementos em uma história que cresce cada vez mais em riscos e oportunidades。 Então temos dois grupos narrativos aqui: de um lado Tim-21， Quon e Telsa estão nas mãos de um grupo Sabemos o quanto Jeff Lemire é um autor que gosta de trabalhar os personagens e como quero entrar nos detalhes das histórias de cada um dos personagens， então vou passar pelos temas que mais estão presentes nessa edição。 Um dos principais é a relação entre homens e robôs e como esta foi afetada pela chegada dos Ceifadores。 Antes da chegada deles， a relação já era bastante complicada。 Os humanos sempre enxergaram nos robôs mais como ferramentas do que como seres sencientes。 Mesmo que a mente deles já tivesse uma consciência bastante apurada。 Em trabalhos mais pesados， os robôs eram empregados até o seu limite， mesmo que isso causasse danos em seus corpos。 Como eles eram programados para não atacar seres humanos， os abusos acabavam ficando impunes。 Outro empecilho nessa relação prévia é que os construtos criados por Quon tinham um aspecto semelhante aos seres humanos， o que incomodava aqueles que eram mais conservadores。 O medo de eles substituírem a humanidade， com seus corpos perfeitos e imortais， era muito grande。 Por isso， lhes era dado um tempo de vida。Quando os Ceifadores chegaram isso criou uma nova camada nas relações entre eles。 Agora todo e qualquer robô era considerado uma ameaça。 O germe da Ceifa poderia estar no núcleo de alguns deles。 A desconfiança não era só mais pelo fato de os novos robôs serem bastante semelhantes aos seres humanos。 O surgimento dos Sucateadores está nessa filosofia de destruir os seres mecânicos a todo custo。 E isso ia desde um robô de manutenção até um robô de procriação （que cuidava dos novos construtos criados em laboratório）。 Ou seja， eram robôs menos ameaçadores que uma espécie designada para a construção civil。 Surgem grandes fogueiras nas cidades destinadas a calcinar os robôs a qualquer custo。 No meio dessa revolta civil surgem os Intermediários， seres humanos que entendem as modificações ciborgues como o despertar de uma natureza mais pura。 É uma consequência direta dessa postura bélica da humanidade。Por outro lado temos também indivíduos buscando deixar a sua marca no mundo a todo custo。 Pessoas que não desejam viver protegidos， à sombra de outras pessoas。 E isso só pode ser realizado se colocando face a face com o perigo。 Mesmo que isso signifique dar adeus ao amor de uma pessoa querida ou enfrentá-la com unhas e dentes。 Ao se provar， essas pessoas encontram um novo sentido para suas vidas。 Afinal， amadurecer é isso: encontrar uma nova página para nossas existências。 E isso envolve sair de sua zona de conforto。 Foi assim que Telsa conseguiu chegar à condição atual em que ela se encontra。 Hoje ela é uma mulher empoderada e que não depende da autoridade vinda do seu sobrenome。 Ela construiu sua própria carreira e é temida por seu próprio nome e não pelos que vieram antes dela。Mas， existe outro polo a essa questão: a da busca obsessiva por algo。 Uma busca irracional que não nos faz pensar sobre quem está ao nosso redor。 Uma missão que é como uma lança， disparada sempre em frente até atingir o seu alvo。 Ou até diferenças de pensamento que nos colocam em lados opostos a uma questão。 Onde não há debate ou discussão e ou você está a meu favor ou está contra。 Mas， sabemos que o mundo é mais complicado do que isso e as coisas não podem ser definidas em preto e branco。 Os tons de cinza estão ali permeando cada segundo de nossas vidas， envolvendo nossas decisões。 Será que Andy chegou a alguma conclusão sobre ele poder ter escolhido errado em anos passados？ Ou Effie tem razão e os dois precisam ficar longe um do outro？A solidão de uma escolha nunca passível de ser feita também é parte desse volume。 O quanto robôs podem esperar？ Será que em um mundo sem pessoas， eles sentem solidão？ O momento do despertar pode ser tão intenso quanto uma espera eterna， sem saber quando ou onde。 Temos um belo capítulo quase sem balões de diálogo onde Lemire This volume is mostly telling backstory and developing characters。 We get some interesting reveals about them。 The backstories are filled with action， so it does not feel slow。 The storytelling has always jumped back and forth with flashbacks。 The art is as beautiful as ever。 Things are not looking good for the characters in the present。 But in this series， the stakes are always pretty dire。

More background on Evie （the techie/cyber girl） and Andy （mining colony boy/good Tim pal） and their time as orphans & a young couple。 We learn more about Driller and why he’s a killer and about bad Tim。 Lots of flashbacks to before the big attack and a new fight between the Tims and the group flees to a cave as the surface is devastated。 I’m considering buying this to follow it better， but you can’t beat the library sometimes！

This volume was backstory for a lot of the characters and I loved it。 I found myself feeling sorry for a robot dog and falling in love with two drilling bots。。。Scoops and Driller are adorable。 Can this be made into a movie？

I liked finally getting some fleshed-out backstories to a number of our characters in this volume。 The art continues to impress。This one finally answered the question as to how 40-year-old-looking twenty-year-old Andy had an ex-wife already。
