For me, this series has been going downhill ever since book One。 Don't get me wrong, I love Tim-21 and the "yappy-bot" as much as anyone, but other than the gorgeous, GORGEOUS art (and even that can be considered a matter of taste, of course), I see nothing special in this story。If I want to read about a robot-boy, I can always get back to Urasawa's Pluto。 For me, this series has been going downhill ever since book One。 Don't get me wrong, I love Tim-21 and the "yappy-bot" as much as anyone, but other than the gorgeous, GORGEOUS art (and even that can be considered a matter of taste, of course), I see nothing special in this story。If I want to read about a robot-boy, I can always get back to Urasawa's Pluto。 。。。more

This art has a first-class, express lane ticket to my soul。The story is great, too。But this art makes me feel alive。

This series is sooooooooo good。。。 Every graphic novel / comicbook fan, hell every sci-fi fan, should read this series。

The continuation of a new (to me) beloved space opera。 The plot is picking up speed at a rate that leaves me almost breathless as I read。We are inching ever closer to the reunion I’m both looking forward to and dreading。 I still don’t know which version to expect!! Will it go well or will it crash and burn?I wanted to offer another appreciation of Nguyen’s artwork。 Lemire may write the characters and the story, but Nguyen makes them come alive on the page in his beautiful compositions and colors The continuation of a new (to me) beloved space opera。 The plot is picking up speed at a rate that leaves me almost breathless as I read。We are inching ever closer to the reunion I’m both looking forward to and dreading。 I still don’t know which version to expect!! I sat and read Descender Volume 4 in one sitting without taking my eyes off the page。 This is by far the most impactful volume to date。The first chapter opens up entirely divided into three segments - top of the page is (view spoiler)[Tim-21 and 22's (hide spoiler)] story, middle of the page is (view spoiler)[Andy and Effie's (hide spoiler)] story, and bottom of the page is (view spoiler)[Quon and Telsa's (hide spoiler)] story。 The way this chapter moves between characters is seamless, the clima I sat and read Descender Volume 4 in one sitting without taking my eyes off the page。 This is by far the most impactful volume to date。The first chapter opens up entirely divided into three segments - top of the page is (view spoiler)[Tim-21 and 22's (hide spoiler)] story, middle of the page is (view spoiler)[Andy and Effie's (hide spoiler)] story, and bottom of the page is (view spoiler)[Quon and Telsa's (hide spoiler)] story。 The way this chapter moves between characters is seamless, the climactic events that are happening in each of these plots unifies them while also allowing them all their own space to be interpreted based on their histories。 At the conclusion of this first chapter I knew I was on the hook to sit there and read the rest of the volume without moving。I am continuiously impressed by Lemire's ability to introduce characters using a couple of frames that define them worlds beyond what is on the page。 The introduction of Mizerd (on the swamp planet) felt natrural and obvious, allowing him to flow into the story as if he had always been there。 Only two more volumes to go and I have no idea how this will wrap up in the end。 I haven't been this invested in a graphic novel series in a longgg time。 。。。more

Hardwire machine faction prepares to fight UGC with the aid of bad Tim-23 posing as Good Tim-21。 Andy & Effie lured to Hardwire base as Driller confesses & jettisoned himself into spacestream only to land on a marshy magical planet。 Inventor Quan & Telsa fight and are prisoners and more。 Really need a re-read or refresher to follow plots。

The art is just brilliant but still struggling to be hooked by the narrative。I'll push it until the end but not my favourite Lemire work so far。 The art is just brilliant but still struggling to be hooked by the narrative。I'll push it until the end but not my favourite Lemire work so far。 。。。more

There wasn’t quite as much story in this one as the first 3 volumes but that twist was quite surprising。 Also I’m just really attached to some of these characters。 ❤️❤️❤️

Love the art。 And the story is pretty good, too。

yet another perfect masterpiece

We've got stuff happening everywhere。 Lying, trickery, backstabbing, political scheming, self-sacrifice, robot attempted suicide, the clash of war, and a magical new swamp friend。I'm not joking; this volume is more like a roller coaster。This series has 6 volumes。 We've got stuff happening everywhere。 Lying, trickery, backstabbing, political scheming, self-sacrifice, robot attempted suicide, the clash of war, and a magical new swamp friend。I'm not joking; this volume is more like a roller coaster。This series has 6 volumes。 。。。more

Another fantastic installment! The art impresses me more and more。 Andy still looks like he's 40, but I just try to look past that。 There are so many characters to like and dislike。 The Hardwire are an interesting bunch, because you feel for them, but their motives are questionable。 Andy is a dick, but (mostly) understandably so。 I like Queen Between (Effie) a lot。 Her cyborg body has some parallels to trans individuals, especially with her constant correction of Andy, who keeps using her dead n Another fantastic installment! Star Wars meets Battlestar Galactica。 It’s a fun, addictive read。

The story just keeps getting better! 5/5

The art somehow gets better with each volume。This was the most Star Wars influenced out of the volumes so far。Great fun。

Esto se puso super interesante, y que cliffhangers。El problema, en México aun no sale el número que sigue, a esperar

This series seriously doesn’t let up!!! The action keeps coming!!The artwork is beautiful!! I would seriously consider getting a print of some internal artwork and hanging it on my wall!! It’s that goodI did see the twist coming so it fell down slightly but it did make me second guess myself a little for a short time!!The characters!!! What can I say?? I really don’t want anything to happen to them but my god that ending!!! So good

This series is just so well-paced。 You can tell Lemire and Nguyen plotted out this 6 volume series from start to finish in a way to keep reader's interest throughout, keep the action moving, keep the settings fresh, keep the character dynamics shifting。 Very pleased with this comic。 This series is just so well-paced。 You can tell Lemire and Nguyen plotted out this 6 volume series from start to finish in a way to keep reader's interest throughout, keep the action moving, keep the settings fresh, keep the character dynamics shifting。 Very pleased with this comic。 。。。more

Yet another great instalment in what is fast becoming one of my favourite scifi comics currently out。 The art as usual is stunning and the storyline continues to progress at a great pace; with great exploration into each characters backstory and conflicting viewpoints。 I also love seeing more of each of the core planets within this fictional galaxy, in this volume in particular Mata the water covered planet。 Excited to continue straight into volume 5 and enjoy the upcoming robot revolution。

An almost perfect installment。 No spoilers, but I wasn't the biggest fan of that one huge plot-twist, but it worked for the narrative and did work well for moving the story forward, so all good in the end, and with the crazy cliff-hanger of an ending I'd have been forced to come back for more anyhow because Lemire did a great job of leaving me precariously hanging in suspense。 An almost perfect installment。 No spoilers, but I wasn't the biggest fan of that one huge plot-twist, but it worked for the narrative and did work well for moving the story forward, so all good in the end, and with the crazy cliff-hanger of an ending I'd have been forced to come back for more anyhow because Lemire did a great job of leaving me precariously hanging in suspense。 。。。more

Descender, Volume 4: Orbital Mechanics by Jeff Lemire ends the brief and tenuous sibling relationship of Tims 21 and 22。 After a brief chase through space, Tim 22 returns, carrying the body of 21, pretending to be 22。This is the volume where everyone questions their relationships。 Does Andy want his brother back or is he just out for revenge against another robot? Will Telsa reconcile with her father?
