I've never been a fan of Deadpool。 Of course, I thought the first movie was excellent and I'm yet to watch the second。 In comic format, however, I have never found Deadpool funny。 That might be because I haven't found a run that works with me yet, or it might just be me not liking the character as a whole。When my friend Ben lent me this, I felt obliged to get through the entire thing before giving it back to him。 So I did it in two sittings, one for the first run, and one for the second。 I must I've never been a fan of Deadpool。 Of course, I thought the first movie was excellent and I'm yet to watch the second。 In comic format, however, I have never found Deadpool funny。 That might be because I haven't found a run that works with me yet, or it might just be me not liking the character as a whole。When my friend Ben lent me this, I felt obliged to get through the entire thing before giving it back to him。 So I did it in two sittings, one for the first run, and one for the second。 I must say, Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe is much better than Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe Again, but not by much。 They both just feel like a shallow blood-fest, only there to scratch a morbid violent itch, that just isn't there for me。 Whilst characters like Daredevil can pull of more violent and bloody stories, whilst making it work, it always seems a little juvenile when Deadpool attempts it。I know this makes me sound like a posh snob, but still。 。。。more
Pip,
A bit too repetitive with the killing for me, not much of a story line in either series。
Matt,
Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe Omnibus collects both storylines where。。。 Deadpool kills the Marvel universe: Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe and Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe Again。This is pure, stupid, popcorn eating fun。 If you hadn’t gathered by the title, these two stories are not canon/do not take place in the main Marvel comics universe。The stories themselves involve Deadpool being brainwashed and then going on his mad killing rampage。 It did remind me of the Wolverine storylin Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe Omnibus collects both storylines where。。。 Deadpool kills the Marvel universe: Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe and Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe Again。This is pure, stupid, popcorn eating fun。 If you hadn’t gathered by the title, these two stories are not canon/do not take place in the main Marvel comics universe。The stories themselves involve Deadpool being brainwashed and then going on his mad killing rampage。 It did remind me of the Wolverine storyline Enemy of the State where Wolverine is brainwashed and fights many different Marvel characters。 But the stories here take it further with Deadpool not pulling his punches。Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe is more inventive with how he takes out all the different characters。 Finding out different weaknesses and exploiting them, with the story told mostly from his twisted perception。 There was a great fourth wall breaking moment at the end of this storyline which gave it a suitable ending。Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe Again doesn’t link with the first series at all。 If anything it’s just a different take on the concept featuring the more recent Marvel characters。 I did however prefer the storyline with this one, the brainwashing of Deadpool being a plan of the cabal of villains such as Red Skull, Doctor Doom, Magneto, etc。 I could be wrong but this would fit in with Wolverine: Old Man Logan to an extent。Another aspect I liked about the second storyline, we actually got to spend time with some of the heroes before the inevitable Deadpool happens to them。 Trying to come up with a way of helping/stopping him。 There is also a use of varied art styles for each of Deadpool’s delusions。 Very fitting for the story。Overall this is a very fun and silly book, not to be taken seriously。 If however you don’t like the idea of your favourite Marvel characters being murdered, this may not be for you。 It does have plenty of violence, so not for the younger readers。 You also don’t need much knowledge of the Marvel universe to enjoy this。 If you have seen the Deadpool films and wondered what would happen if he was part of the MCU, then give this a read! 。。。more
Harry Satterly,
The first story is a great and in character way to kill the characters, it is mainly Deadpool's story so the other heroes end up seeming a bit useless and just cannon fodder。 Yet the twist is tragic and not too surprising。 The second story is a tragic tale, where we see interactions between a group of heroes searching for Wade, giving them more agency, and seeing how Wade ended up on the murder tour。 May be a shadow prequel to Old Man Logan (or not), either way excellent。 The first story is a great and in character way to kill the characters, it is mainly Deadpool's story so the other heroes end up seeming a bit useless and just cannon fodder。 Yet the twist is tragic and not too surprising。 The second story is a tragic tale, where we see interactions between a group of heroes searching for Wade, giving them more agency, and seeing how Wade ended up on the murder tour。 May be a shadow prequel to Old Man Logan (or not), either way excellent。 。。。more
Emily,
I love this。 It was a reread for me, but it was my first introduction to Deadpool, and I think it's such a fun lead in to the Marvel NOW situation。 I love this。 It was a reread for me, but it was my first introduction to Deadpool, and I think it's such a fun lead in to the Marvel NOW situation。 。。。more
