A must-have for anyone who has ever imagined sitting under the Sorting Hat in the Great Hall at Hogwarts waiting to hear the words, 'Better be RAVENCLAW'!

LOL。 i mean i like them, i like them a lot, but they are quite cross with each other a lot。 they fly off the handle, they argue, they snap, they’re dismissive to each other, all very, very often。 they’re just a bit ill-natured, right ? and this might be some sort of projection on my part, but they feel a bit cliquish。 like i said, i love the characters (save for ginny and the twins whom i actively DISlike), but i feel as if that if i were at hogwarts with them, they would be a little hard to get to know。。。am i crazy ? i don’t know ! lol i’m not confident that i expressed this as succinctly as i would have liked, i’m just hoping i’m not the only one who’s seen this。 otp vs notpi hate ginny and harry together。 i hate it。 oh my gosh i hate it so much。 two stars simply because i hate it。 i hate it。 i don’t have many sophisticated thoughts to apply here about this。 i just hate them。 on the other hand, i LOVE ron and hermione together。 i’m obsessed with them。 can we get some things clear ?:ron and hermione smelling each other in theiramortentia = very cute, we love to see it, couple goals, gimme gimme moreharry smelling ginny in his amortentia for some fucking reason = complete bullshit, out of no where, don’t try to force your agenda on me joanne, please make it stopron and hermione bickering = very telling, obviously hiding their true feelings, super cute, makes my heart hurtharry and ginny bickering = stop trying to be james and lily, feels like you’re just bickering, get it out of my sight get it out of my sight nowthank you。 and can i just say it ? i’m gonna say it ! i like harry and luna together。 yeah that’s right ! don’t you even try and talk me down from this ledge cause i’m jumpin。harryharry has been through way too much at this point in his journey, so it’s quite understandable that he is overly paranoid and watchful。 and irritable。 but ! the thing is is that his suspicions are never wrong。 i think the exploration of harry’s slight savior complex, his need to help others (and his need to suspect others) (and voldemort’s manipulation of that) was pretty interesting in the previous book ! but harry had been right to want to spring into action。 in fact, i find it remarkably strange that anyone would EVER doubt him ! he’s the chosen one after all, i would assume he has some precious insight on the inner-workings of the dark lord’s mind。。。oh wait ! he literally does。 and yet everyone is still reluctant to believe him in many cases, why ? it doesn’t work unless he’s wrong sometimes。 so why when he makes a completely reasonable assumption that draco has been inducted into the death eaters, people roll their eyes at him ? i guess i understand that considering the insight we received during the vignette at the beginning with narcissa and shape, that it’s supposed to create some dramatic irony—we know that harry is right but his friends do not—but it doesn’t work on me。dumbledorewell。。。not to speak i’ll of the dead but。。。i had a huge problem with dumbledore this time around, unfortunately for multiple reasons。 one reason being something that has been brewing (no witch pun intended) for the last six books right under my nose, and another that’s only made itself evident in this book, which is less egregious:dumbledore was INCREDIBLY boastful。 since this book is like, two thirds dumbledore speaking at harry, we got to get to know him a bit more, got to see different sides to him; we saw him get visibly angry when in all the books we’ve known him he displays an irritably calm countenance no matter what, we see him express disappointment with harry when all he usually does is shower him with praise (and a hundred house points at the end of each year)。 but in this one, hes like, worse。 i usually really enjoyed how whimsical he is; he says weird phrases and his passwords to his office are always sweets and he winks, like, a ton。 but now he’s always remarking upon his great intelligence and magic prowess。 hello, joanne ? yes, you’ve spent six books having every character awed to pieces at dumbledore’s impressive skill set。 hagrid says it every other line。 his intelligence is evident in the way you’ve written him to speak, joanne, i’m just incredibly confused as to why you’ve made him so boastful this time around。 it’s really ugly。 i hate it。but what i hate so much more is the habit these weirdo authors always have where they have a favorite character, they want the audience to be sympathetic towards them, but they still write them to be complete dicks。 or they have them do these awful, awful things, but the narrative always frames it in the character’s favor, so it’s justified no matter what。 make any argument for him that you’d like, but it’s hard to reconcile the fact that dumbledore allowed the pervasive abuse of a young boy for fifteen years simply because that physical, geographical area was the safest for him。 that just makes no sense, joanne。 it actually looks really bad for dumbledore。 but here we have harry, whom trusts in dumbledore so fervently despite, despite, despite, and dumbledore, who’s intentions are just so righteous that it feels hard to find fault with him about this。 dumbledore is a great wizard, joanne, you’re the one who forced this information down our throats。 there was no way harry could have been saved from his abusive family at all ? i don’t buy it, i won’t buy it。i suppose my closing thought will be that i didn’t hate this book, just the things that i disliked i disliked a lot。 2。5 is all my weary heart can provide。 。。。more

Twas better the first time, but this is a very important book and sets things up nicely for the Deathly Hallows。 I read it to my kids this time through。 At one point, they both lost interest。 I resumed with my son, but my daughter's interest never recovered。 Idk why。 She's the elder child, but oh well。 My son wants to move on to the next。If only there were more after that one。。。 Twas better the first time, but this is a very important book and sets things up nicely for the Deathly Hallows。 I read it to my kids this time through。 At one point, they both lost interest。 I resumed with my son, but my daughter's interest never recovered。 Idk why。 She's the elder child, but oh well。 My son wants to move on to the next。If only there were more after that one。。。 。。。more

Okay listen I love this book, I genuinely think it is one of the best of the series and gives us so much good and important information and it really allows all of the characters to be teenagers while still having a very adult purpose and mission。HOWEVER did this book not get a proof read ????? the amount of typos and grammatical errors is astounding。 At times it gets hard to read and you have to change the words on your own just so the sentences don’t feel clunky。 Then of course we have what I Okay listen I love this book, I genuinely think it is one of the best of the series and gives us so much good and important information and it really allows all of the characters to be teenagers while still having a very adult purpose and mission。HOWEVER did this book not get a proof read ????? the amount of typos and grammatical errors is astounding。 At times it gets hard to read and you have to change the words on your own just so the sentences don’t feel clunky。 Then of course we have what I think the most aggressive of JKRs internal misogyny in this book and it is,,,, so gross。 But we all know she’s a POS and that doesn’t value most people so that shouldn’t be a surprise。 。。。more

It's funny how much more I'm enjoying these the second time around --reading them out loud to my son, in German, instead of gobbling them up to know the ending。 Rowling is a better writer than I remembered --she portrays well Harry's maturity and his coming up with his fate。 Not a fan of this book's Dumbledore, though --I can't see such a brilliant person giving Harry that sort of preferential treatment, Chosen one or not。 Oh, and I'd managed to completely forget the whole Horcrux arch after the It's funny how much more I'm enjoying these the second time around --reading them out loud to my son, in German, instead of gobbling them up to know the ending。 Rowling is a better writer than I remembered --she portrays well Harry's maturity and his coming up with his fate。 Not a fan of this book's Dumbledore, though --I can't see such a brilliant person giving Harry that sort of preferential treatment, Chosen one or not。 Oh, and I'd managed to completely forget the whole Horcrux arch after the first reading, so I'm very much looking forward to #7 and its resolution。 。。。more

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is the best in this internationally-bestselling series by far。 Once again, Harry, Ron, and Hermione are on their journey to save the Wizarding World from Lord Voldemort's clutches (and noseless face)。 But it's not without a final year in the haven of Hogwarts。 There is danger brewing, but also romance, friendship, sadness, and turmoil brewing within the very walls of the school。 [HARRY + GINNY FOREVER。 OH MY GOODNESS I LOVED THEIR SCENES。 ALSOOOO ROMIONE!!! This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 The only thing I disliked about this one was Harry’s inability to believe that he can be wrong。 The way he just thinks he’s smarter than Dumbledore cracks me up。 You’re a sixteen year old, very average wizard Harry, there is no way that you know better than Dumbledore。 He just lets his hatred of Snape cloud his judgement - fair enough when Snape kills Dumbledore, he’s right to believe Snape is evil but the whole time before? TRUST THE OLD WIZARD HARRY, he’s much smarter than you。
