Summary

Ally D'Aplièse is about to compete in one of the world's most perilous yacht races, when she hears the news of her adoptive father's sudden, mysterious death。 Rushing back to meet her five sisters at their family home, she discovers that her father - an elusive billionaire affectionately known to his daughters as Pa Salt - has left each of them a tantalising clue to their true heritage。

Ally has also recently embarked on a deeply passionate love affair that will change her destiny forever。 But with her life now turned upside down, Ally decides to leave the open seas and follow the trail that her father left her, which leads her to the icy beauty of Norway。。。

There, Ally begins to discover her roots - and how her story is inextricably bound to that of a young unknown singer, Anna Landvik, who lived there over 100 years before, and sang in the first performance of Grieg's iconic music set to Ibsen's play 'Peer Gynt'。 As Ally learns more about Anna, she also begins to question who her father, Pa Salt, really was。 And why is the seventh sister missing?

Following the bestselling The Seven Sisters, The Storm Sister is the second book in Lucinda Riley's spellbinding series based loosely on the mythology surrounding the famous star constellation。 (less)

Started off wondering if this book would be 'more of the same' however it soon turned its own corner and hooked me in。 Great read。 Love the way we learn stuff on the way and I feel inspired to learn more about Grieg and his music。 Still thinking about the book after finishing it a few days ago and that to me is the sign of a good book!Ally D'Aplièse is about to compete in one of the world's most perilous yacht races, when she hears the news of her adoptive father's sudden, mysterious death。 Rush Started off wondering if this book would be 'more of the same' however it soon turned its own corner and hooked me in。 Great read。 Love the way we learn stuff on the way and I feel inspired to learn more about Grieg and his music。 Still thinking about the book after finishing it a few days ago and that to me is the sign of a good book!Ally D'Aplièse is about to compete in one of the world's most perilous yacht races, when she hears the news of her adoptive father's sudden, mysterious death。 Rushing back to meet her five sisters at their family home, she discovers that her father - an elusive billionaire affectionately known to his daughters as Pa Salt - has left each of them a tantalising clue to their true heritage。Ally has also recently embarked on a deeply passionate love affair that will change her destiny forever。 But with her life now turned upside down, Ally decides to leave the open seas and follow the trail that her father left her, which leads her to the icy beauty of Norway。。。There, Ally begins to discover her roots - and how her story is inextricably bound to that of a young unknown singer, Anna Landvik, who lived there over 100 years before, and sang in the first performance of Grieg's iconic music set to Ibsen's play 'Peer Gynt'。 As Ally learns more about Anna, she also begins to question who her father, Pa Salt, really was。 And why is the seventh sister missing?Following the bestselling The Seven Sisters, The Storm Sister is the second book in Lucinda Riley's spellbinding series based loosely on the mythology surrounding the famous star constellation 。。。more

The second installment of the Seven Sisters series。 This sees Ally going through lots of heartbreak before finding out she has a connection to a young, unknown singer, Anna Landvik。 The story goes on from there and Ally finds herself wondering why the seventh sister is missing and who her father really was。 Another brilliant read。 I love Lucinda Riley's writing style。 I can't wait to move on to the next installment。 The second installment of the Seven Sisters series。 This sees Ally going through lots of heartbreak before finding out she has a connection to a young, unknown singer, Anna Landvik。 The story goes on from there and Ally finds herself wondering why the seventh sister is missing and who her father really was。 Another brilliant read。 I love Lucinda Riley's writing style。 I can't wait to move on to the next installment。 。。。more

This is the second book in the Sisters series and was a very interesting read。I quite liked Ally and thought as the second sister she was an extremely accomplished person。 She was a woman who had to deal with so many issues within a short period of time。Highly recommended

The second volume of the Seven Sisters had the same magnetic pull, time-lapsing tale, and erroneous writing skill as the first book did。 We follow the heritage story of the second sister, Ally。 Where we start of with an unrealistic love story (quite similar to where we left Maia in the first book) we continue to follow her past over several generations。 Ally is more independent in comparison to Maia, but stil, she apparentley needs tot be told when tot shower or to eat。 I think Riley wants to sh The second volume of the Seven Sisters had the same magnetic pull, time-lapsing tale, and erroneous writing skill as the first book did。 We follow the heritage story of the second sister, Ally。 Where we start of with an unrealistic love story (quite similar to where we left Maia in the first book) we continue to follow her past over several generations。 Ally is more independent in comparison to Maia, but stil, she apparentley needs tot be told when tot shower or to eat。 I think Riley wants to show a set of young women finding their way in current society, in my opinion, she lacks actual stories。 Stories of non-privileged girls who have actually accomplished something, rather than spoilt little girls given mediocre clues from their past。 I miss an actual character build, someone I feel empathy for。 Nevertheless, I enjoyed the book, and I am grateful that Star is the third sister。 Would recommdend to borrow these books though, I would not want them in my personal collection。 。。。more

I really love Rileys way of writing since it feels so cozy to read。 But I have to say that this second book for some reason didn't feel as good as the first one。 I think mostly it is because I didn't really connect to Ally in the same way I did with Maia。 But I will say that some parts of the book felt better than others and I really enjoyed those parts。 But to often for my taste I kinda lost interest with the book and it was almost hard to turn page and read the next。 All in all after reading i I really love Rileys way of writing since it feels so cozy to read。 But I have to say that this second book for some reason didn't feel as good as the first one。 I think mostly it is because I didn't really connect to Ally in the same way I did with Maia。 But I will say that some parts of the book felt better than others and I really enjoyed those parts。 But to often for my taste I kinda lost interest with the book and it was almost hard to turn page and read the next。 All in all after reading it I don't regret it and I think it was good in its ways, but I will probably not re-read it some time soon。 。。。more

The Seven Sisters is one of my favorite book series, I read as a grown-up。 I like the first and the second book (seven sisters and storm sister) best。 Especially interesting are the well-researched historical facts and I am curious about the big picture and the uncovering of all the connections in the 7th part (appearing 2021)。I have read parts 3-5 also in a few days because they are written very well and are riveting。 Only book 6 wasn't this great and took me a bit longer。 The Seven Sisters is one of my favorite book series, I read as a grown-up。 I like the first and the second book (seven sisters and storm sister) best。 Especially interesting are the well-researched historical facts and I am curious about the big picture and the uncovering of all the connections in the 7th part (appearing 2021)。I have read parts 3-5 also in a few days because they are written very well and are riveting。 Only book 6 wasn't this great and took me a bit longer。 。。。more

A sudden calm。I have to admit this story of the second sister did not capture me as much as the first。 Partly because the beginning was all about sailing and I am not a yachting enthusiast。 However when we got down to the historical section tracing Ally's birth origins then I was captivated。 Loved Anna, the 'ghost voice' and her complex love affair。 Read the book in one day and enjoyed it。 Highly recommended。 Looking forward to the next。 A sudden calm。I have to admit this story of the second sister did not capture me as much as the first。 Partly because the beginning was all about sailing and I am not a yachting enthusiast。 However when we got down to the historical section tracing Ally's birth origins then I was captivated。 Loved Anna, the 'ghost voice' and her complex love affair。 Read the book in one day and enjoyed it。 Highly recommended。 Looking forward to the next。 。。。more

Loving this series。 This is the second book I’ve read in the series。 Both very different。 You could read them out of order with no issue。 I’m really enjoying the interesting tidbits of history within the stories。 Didn’t want the story to end。 Will definitely continue with the series。

Uau!

Beautiful。 Also cool to read and know a bit more about the life of the sisters and Pa Salt!

I think I enjoyed this more than 'The Seven Sisters', the first in the series。 Ally's history takes us back to the composer Grieg, and to Norway。 Grieg also happens to be one of my favourite composers, so I suppose that's partly why I was so engrossed in the historical aspect of the book。 The more modern history was also interesting as I only recently became aware of the effect of Naziism in Norway during WW2, and, for me, this was a further insight into that。 In some ways, the story was a littl I think I enjoyed this more than 'The Seven Sisters', the first in the series。 Ally's history takes us back to the composer Grieg, and to Norway。 Grieg also happens to be one of my favourite composers, so I suppose that's partly why I was so engrossed in the historical aspect of the book。 The more modern history was also interesting as I only recently became aware of the effect of Naziism in Norway during WW2, and, for me, this was a further insight into that。 In some ways, the story was a little predictable, but it didn't detract from my enjoyment in any way。 As with the nature of all these books, the dual timeline is a style I like, and seeing the characters grow is immensely satisfying。 On to book number three, now。 。。。more
