A nice little compendium of some of the best ideas offered about personal and professional communication。 Not a word is wasted, and through its succinct summaries and handy references to its sources, it becomes a little encyclopedia of ideas, and works to explore further。

I’m surprised at some of these reviews。 The chapters in this book are concise with well explained concepts。I’d totally recommend this book!

Don't let the title deceive you。 This is not a text book but an easy to read book where theories on communication has been broken down for the lay person to understand and use。 Don't let the title deceive you。 This is not a text book but an easy to read book where theories on communication has been broken down for the lay person to understand and use。 。。。more

I just finished ‘The Communication Book’ by Mikael Krogerus and Roman Tschaeppeler。 44 individual concepts on the art of conversation。 I was most interested in theories on ‘when is it ok to lie?’, ‘how to have a conversation without using the word ‘I’ ‘ and ‘how therapists play a role as a second observer’。 A good book to keep on the coffee table in between life activities but hard to retain the varying information when reading cover to cover。

Unlike the other books in the series, this book had a lot of theoretical aspects to it rather than the practical applications。 There are quite a few good models in this book, which after application seem to be useful for me personally。 But the book itself didn't introduce how could someone actually apply the various models。 I'd recommend the book, based on personal experience, as a one time read with probably only a few models that'll really stand out。 Unlike the other books in the series, this book had a lot of theoretical aspects to it rather than the practical applications。 There are quite a few good models in this book, which after application seem to be useful for me personally。 But the book itself didn't introduce how could someone actually apply the various models。 I'd recommend the book, based on personal experience, as a one time read with probably only a few models that'll really stand out。 。。。more

Concise, fun but it lacked some thorough explanation of some of its theories。 In general, it had an open minded & useful approach & its sketches made it more interesting

I found the layout very frustrating。 All the diagrams were in two page spreads that simply didn't work because of the style of binding。 Half of the book was basically unreadable。 The content is great but they could have learned from some of their own lessons on delivering said content。 I found the layout very frustrating。 All the diagrams were in two page spreads that simply didn't work because of the style of binding。 Half of the book was basically unreadable。 The content is great but they could have learned from some of their own lessons on delivering said content。 。。。more

I read this cover to cover not really knowing why I did that as this is definitely more of a reference book。 There were some good points and interesting bits like some of the studies on the rules but I felt like some of it was a little to vague and needed some more in-depth elaboration。I also found the format and font for the titles a little childish but I’m just being really picky now。

Nagyon felületes, egy egy elméletet 1 oldalon fejt ki。 Jó lenne ha minden modellhez lenne egy könyv cím ami részletesen foglalkozik a témával

I read in English but this review is in Bahasa IndonesiaEven if you say nothing, you are saying something。 Buku ini berkali-kali menarik perhatian sejak aku bekerja di kantor konsultan bisnis。 Rasa-rasanya, memahami seni berkomunikasi akan membawa keuntungan tertentu jika sedang bernegosiasi dengan klien。 Sayangnya, aku malah baru sempat membaca ketika sudah berganti profesi。 Namun, jika dipikir-pikir, tidak ada ruginya untuk mempertajam kemampuan komunikasi。 Suatu saat, pasti akan berguna, juga。 I read in English but this review is in Bahasa IndonesiaEven if you say nothing, you are saying something。 Buku ini berkali-kali menarik perhatian sejak aku bekerja di kantor konsultan bisnis。 Rasa-rasanya, memahami seni berkomunikasi akan membawa keuntungan tertentu jika sedang bernegosiasi dengan klien。 Sayangnya, aku malah baru sempat membaca ketika sudah berganti profesi。 Namun, jika dipikir-pikir, tidak ada ruginya untuk mempertajam kemampuan komunikasi。 Suatu saat, pasti akan berguna, juga。 Seperti yang menjadi sub-judul, buku ini berisi 44 ide, atau lebih jelasnya adalah 44 teori komunikasi yang bisa dimengerti dengan mudah oleh orang awam (orang yang secara akademik tidak mempelajari Ilmu Komunikasi)。 Setiap ide dijelaskan dalam 1 bentuk diagram dan 2 halaman penjelasan yang langsung on point。 Ada yang berupa poin-poin, ada yang berupa paragraf yang dilengkapi dengan contoh di dalam keseharian kita。 The Communication Book dibagi menjadi 5 bagian: Job and Career, Self and Knowledge, Love and Friendship, Words and Meaning, dan Conclusion。 Masing-masing bagian berisi ide-ide yang memang bisa diterapkan dalam komunikasi bidang itu。 Alih-alih aku mendapatkan insight dari buku ini untuk pengembangan karirku, aku malah paling suka dengan bagian Words and Meaning。 Aku memang sempat belajar sedikit tentang berapa teori dalam Ilmu Komunikasi。 Membaca bagian itu di buku ini semacam pengingat dalam bentuk yang lebih singkat dan visual (karena dibantu dengan diagram)。 Buku ini rasanya cocok bagi teman-teman yang sudah berpikiran untuk mulai mengembangkan karir melalui peningkatan kemampuan diri。 Singkat, namun bisa dijadikan alat bantu。 Referensi atau bibliografi yang ada di akhir buku juga bisa ditelusur jika masih penasaran dengan kelengkapan teorinya。 A message is more than just what is said。 It changes depending on how it is understood。 。。。more

This book is a simple book on communication theories from multiple sources。 It is not extremely specific and describe the theories in details but it sure is helpful for readers to grasp the basic idea of communication

Introductory book into some generic theories of communication, reasoning and debating。 There were some nice reminders of the works of Kahneman, the ancient Greeks and alikes, but for the theories that I haven't hear of I could not grasp the ideas behind them in the couple of paragraphs format they were presented。 When I bought the book (for quite a price), I thought I would use it as a reference for immersing into the theories, but the fact that the ideas are so succinct somehow defeats the purp Introductory book into some generic theories of communication, reasoning and debating。 There were some nice reminders of the works of Kahneman, the ancient Greeks and alikes, but for the theories that I haven't hear of I could not grasp the ideas behind them in the couple of paragraphs format they were presented。 When I bought the book (for quite a price), I thought I would use it as a reference for immersing into the theories, but the fact that the ideas are so succinct somehow defeats the purpose since I could not really discriminate between them。 。。。more

"We all admire people who give good answers。 But we admire those who ask good questions even more。 The people we remember most are the ones who really listen。"。This was a fun read for me。 The ideas in this book are amazing。 It's not a book that displays a set of rules that you have to necessarily apply to know if it works, instead, it focuses on making you understand why we react to certain situations the way we do。。It explores our ways (or rather lack) of communication with various situations i "We all admire people who give good answers。 But we admire those who ask good questions even more。 The people we remember most are the ones who really listen。"。This was a fun read for me。 The ideas in this book are amazing。 It's not a book that displays a set of rules that you have to necessarily apply to know if it works, instead, it focuses on making you understand why we react to certain situations the way we do。。It explores our ways (or rather lack) of communication with various situations in our life, including with ourselves and that's the part I loved the most。。This is one of those books that you should always keep by your bedside and read a chapter or two just before sleeping, it'll really help you。 。。。more

Collection of suggestions and information about communication is simply fantastic。 Illustrated art makes us to remember each ideas better。 It is good to randomly select one out of 44 ideas and reading it on the go。 Upon following the rules and suggestion specified in this book bought lot of positive changes in life。
