Summary

Hurt people hurt people。

Say there was a novel in which Holden Caulfield was an alcoholic and Lolita was a photographer’s assistant and, somehow, they met in Bright Lights, Big City。 He’s blinded by love。 She by ambition。 Diary of an Oxygen Thief is an honest, hilarious, and heartrending novel, but above all, a very realistic account of what we do to each other and what we allow to have done to us。

so bella let me borrow this。 boring af。 starts off strong then like okaayyyy you aren’t special dude。 this is a tiktok book that certainly does not deserve the tiktok hype。 I mean the ratings on here are awful, one of the worst I’ve seen。 very disappointing; bella agreed。 wouldn’t really recommend。 i like the cover though。 lol i should be at 20 books by the end of this month we’ll see how that goes。

Half a star。 This book was dark and disturbing and hard to follow。 I can’t believe I had to wait months to get this book from the library。

the narrator is so incredibly stupid。。。 he thinks he's this master manipulator who knows how women work so well but then IMMEDIATELY turns around to get manipulated by a woman???? nah no way。 more like he was some wounded loser asshole who thought he was playing women so deftly by sleeping with them and leaving them (when in reality he was just being a cliche piece of shit) and then got a taste of his own medicine。。。 and aisling's whole shtick was stupid too。。。 the writing in this book was beara the narrator is so incredibly stupid。。。 he thinks he's this master manipulator who knows how women work so well but then IMMEDIATELY turns around to get manipulated by a woman???? nah no way。 more like he was some wounded loser asshole who thought he was playing women so deftly by sleeping with them and leaving them (when in reality he was just being a cliche piece of shit) and then got a taste of his own medicine。。。 and aisling's whole shtick was stupid too。。。 the writing in this book was bearable but oh my god。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。 it started out fucked but somewhat interesting but then devolved to shit 。。。more

Horrible book, I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone even with a gun to my head。 I can’t believe I read 151 pages of a man reveling in the hurt he brings to others only to shrivel up and grovel when he’s treated the same。 Do yourself a favor and avoid this book completely。

Whosmar1a

It was aggravating to say the least, the man is an absolute awful human being。 But I still believe that it was a very interesting book, I liked the fact that he got a dose of his own medicine at the end。 Overall I really enjoyed it even tho I wanted to throw the book against a wall 99% of the time。

The first line really got me interested。 Then I started to read and I understood what it's all about。 I checked some reviews and I didn't understood why people got the story so wrong。 It's not about romanticizing the toxic relationships。 The writes wrote this book for himself firstly and secondly for us to learn something from it。 Maybe what to run from。 So don't look at it like a romance book or smut because it isn't。 I can't say I liked the ending but because it is a second book too I don't mi The first line really got me interested。 Then I started to read and I understood what it's all about。 I checked some reviews and I didn't understood why people got the story so wrong。 It's not about romanticizing the toxic relationships。 The writes wrote this book for himself firstly and secondly for us to learn something from it。 Maybe what to run from。 So don't look at it like a romance book or smut because it isn't。 I can't say I liked the ending but because it is a second book too I don't mind it that much。 。。。more

Honestly, this book is confusing the hell out of me but it's intriguing。 It's been such a roller coaster ride while I was reading this book。 The first line really get me into reading this。 It could be really read in different perspectives so I get why some people don't like this and why some of them liked it。 That's why I rate this 2。5 or 3 stars。 Honestly, this book is confusing the hell out of me but it's intriguing。 It's been such a roller coaster ride while I was reading this book。 The first line really get me into reading this。 It could be really read in different perspectives so I get why some people don't like this and why some of them liked it。 That's why I rate this 2。5 or 3 stars。 。。。more

Tamia Mason

The protagonist reminds me of a 14 year old male reddit user that was rejected by his crush and then became a misogynist。 The writing also sucks。

This book isn’t like anything I’ve read before - and I’ll be honest, it was disturbing at times - but I also couldn’t put it down。 Let me preface this by acknowledging that I hated the main character and most of what he did - but the story itself is what kept me。 It read like an eclectic, indie film。 It danced the edge between humor and romance and thriller and hopelessly sad。 The writing is everywhere and feels like an inner monologue while still painting a vivid picture of both the character’s This book isn’t like anything I’ve read before - and I’ll be honest, it was disturbing at times - but I also couldn’t put it down。 Let me preface this by acknowledging that I hated the main character and most of what he did - but the story itself is what kept me。 It read like an eclectic, indie film。 It danced the edge between humor and romance and thriller and hopelessly sad。 The writing is everywhere and feels like an inner monologue while still painting a vivid picture of both the character’s feelings and surroundings alike。 Like I said, film-like。 I don’t know why I liked it this much, honestly。 It was just a really interesting read and something very unlike most of what I read before。 I would recommend for anyone looking for a sad, honest, sometimes disturbing, and altogether very interesting story where you are left guessing the entire time what might happen next。 The end is bittersweet, and the humor throughout is bitter and cynical and very fitting。 I guess to sum up, I finished it in less than a day, something I haven’t done in a very long time。 。。。more

This diary is the shittiest I ever read。 The first page is catching my interest and as I read furthermore it just plain。 He is a living misogynist human。 He is self-centred and doesn't want to admit his fault, and then he blames women and his alcohol problems。You're almost 40 years old and you get to taste your medicine once and bam write this diary with the hope you can win by publishing it。 However, I quite enjoy how your mind works and I can relate to some of your minds thinking。 The last par This diary is the shittiest I ever read。 The first page is catching my interest and as I read furthermore it just plain。 He is a living misogynist human。 He is self-centred and doesn't want to admit his fault, and then he blames women and his alcohol problems。You're almost 40 years old and you get to taste your medicine once and bam write this diary with the hope you can win by publishing it。 However, I quite enjoy how your mind works and I can relate to some of your minds thinking。 The last part when you said readers should congratulate you give me some boost of confidence like how you still stand for yourself and not afraid to hurt people。 But seriously, I hope you end up alone。 I'm proud of the young woman who hurts your feeling。 Hah, small dick check! 。。。more

I just couldn’t read this book。 I got about 2/3 of the way through but I found it so depressing and so DEEPLY, DEEPLY misogynistic that I could not bring myself to carry on。 Although the author, and even the protagonist, were self aware of this fact, it felt like an insight to a deeply warped mind with little to no regard for women。 I see no reason to finish it。 Also, how dare this book compare itself to The Catcher In The Rye?!

HMMM。。。 this book was definitely a mind bender as all books with unreliable narraters are。 This book can easily go join Lolita & Co。 in my "extremely well written book about very flawed ̶p̶r̶o̶t̶a̶g̶o̶n̶i̶s̶t̶s main characters" shelf。 As with other books similar, I was taken for a wild ride that had me second guessing the story all over the place。 I enjoyed finding funny remarks within this trash bag of a character (not that the development was done poorly, he's just a bad guy) like the use of " HMMM。。。 this book was definitely a mind bender as all books with unreliable narraters are。 This book can easily go join Lolita & Co。 in my "extremely well written book about very flawed ̶p̶r̶o̶t̶a̶g̶o̶n̶i̶s̶t̶s main characters" shelf。 As with other books similar, I was taken for a wild ride that had me second guessing the story all over the place。 I enjoyed finding funny remarks within this trash bag of a character (not that the development was done poorly, he's just a bad guy) like the use of "Northsouth Airlines" obviously in place of Southwest and other wordplay。I DID find a good portion of this book to ramble annoyingly, which cut down on my enjoyment of the book, but I still think that was all a bit necessary for this type of story to work。 Also, how crazy is it that this book is anonymous!? It just adds a more real world ambiance to the story and I don't know if it was just a great marketing scheme (that good ole anon probably came up with himself *eye-roll*) or what, but it sure did add to the story for me。 And the cover! It sums up this book perfectly。 Cheeky, pretentious, and seemingly random until you go beneath the surface。 SUPER intriguing。 。。。more
