3。5 stars。 Better than the fourth book。 I still think the series would have been better left at 3 books。 There were parts of this plot that felt a little too plot for plot’s sake and far to convenient even at that。 I loved the pictures as usual。 Hmmm。 I’m curious as to whether the last book will redeem the extension of this series- as so far I’m not convinced。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I rated this book 4 starts, because I love the characters & I really liked Noor’s character; she easily became a new favourite character of mine。 But, the plot overall wasn’t great, and I felt the romance between Jacob and Noor was quite rushed。 I know there’s a sixth book available, so I was hoping if there was any romance between these two characters that it would be explored a little more there and not as rushed in Conference of Birds。 Oh, and let’s not forget that cliffhanger。

This book was so much better than the last one!! I have to admit, I was very sceptical when I found out three additional books were coming our way but man。。。 this one delivered! It is kind of a bridge to ‘the big finale’ I guess, but I really did enjoy it。 I connected with the characters again and was at the edge of my seat for the most of it。 Can’t wait to see what happens next。

。。。more

I'm not really sure how I feel about this book。 I went in with kind of low expectations because at this point I'm only reading this series because I want it to be done。 However, I enjoyed this more than I thought I would, I loved the character of Noor and kind of wish we saw a little more of her。 I'm a little sad about the new distance between Emma and Jacob but I'm not sad about their relationship being over, that was just weird。 I thought this book was going to go in an entirely different dire I'm not really sure how I feel about this book。 I went in with kind of low expectations because at this point I'm only reading this series because I want it to be done。 However, I enjoyed this more than I thought I would, I loved the character of Noor and kind of wish we saw a little more of her。 I'm a little sad about the new distance between Emma and Jacob but I'm not sad about their relationship being over, that was just weird。 I thought this book was going to go in an entirely different direction than it did and I'm not upset about it。 Somethings I didn't like about this book was how many seemingly separate plots there were, I never really knew which one I should care about more。 Honestly I'm not super loving this series anymore but I'll be damned before I DNF it after 5 books。 3。5 stars >:)。 。。。more

1) is Jacob the worst , most annoying character in all of literature? I can’t possibly know that, I haven’t read every book 2) can you think of a character in literature that’s more annoying and whiny than Jacob? No; not that I know of。 3) does jacobs whininess and self doubt make this book tough to get through ? yes

I have not read the books leading up to this book of the adventures of Jacob and the other peculiars, but I did enjoy it, it is a light break from more serious reading。 You are left wondering "what is going to happen next?" This book is definitely one of the best in the series。 It had plot twists I genuinely did not expect, more unique elements and events, and new characters and settings。 It's great to see a few characters from the first two books back in action this time - Miss Peregrine and (view spoiler)[Fiona (hide spoiler)]。 I'm glad that much less of this book took place in modern times, and it was much, much shorter and to the point than the book that came before。 I still can't say that I'm the biggest fan o This book is definitely one of the best in the series。 It had plot twists I genuinely did not expect, more unique elements and events, and new characters and settings。 It's great to see a few characters from the first two books back in action this time - Miss Peregrine and (view spoiler)[Fiona (hide spoiler)]。 I'm glad that much less of this book took place in modern times, and it was much, much shorter and to the point than the book that came before。 I still can't say that I'm the biggest fan of the main character, but he has gotten much better as the series has progressed。 I really like Enoch and Bronwyn in particular, but everyone has their own traits and personalities that make them memorable and likable。 The plot is definitely ramping up to a big conclusion。 The in-the-moment threats are gone by the end, but there is definitely something looming on the horizon。 The epilogue is chilling and makes me really pumped for the next book。 The tension and plot are much improved from the last book。 As I have the ones that came before it, I really enjoyed this book, and can't wait for the end of the series。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I was so excited to read this one after Map of Days, which I felt was really good but this one is just not it。The way Emma and Jacob's relationship was entirely discarded just felt off, the other parts of the book just didn't feel so good as well, way too convenient, as if somehow they would conveniently cross paths with objects and artefacts they needed。 Some participations of other peculiars felt forced。 The narrative is good, the story has some good points, but Jacob's character arc has someh I was so excited to read this one after Map of Days, which I felt was really good but this one is just not it。The way Emma and Jacob's relationship was entirely discarded just felt off, the other parts of the book just didn't feel so good as well, way too convenient, as if somehow they would conveniently cross paths with objects and artefacts they needed。 Some participations of other peculiars felt forced。 The narrative is good, the story has some good points, but Jacob's character arc has somehow gotten worse, once again he has a love interest and since the beggining of the book I've been wondering if he needs one。 Breaking up with Emma was not the worse decision it always did felt he liked her more than she liked him(maybe becase of the age gap) but him immediately moving on was way too far off his character。The other peculiars were good, as usual, his friends being the best part of the book, the feel of friendship is always something attractive in this book, the little family they've got going on is always one of the highlights。 Some other chatacters were rushed though and needed to be introduced properly。 The end of the last book which left in an painful cliffhanger(not in a bad way) in which Jacob has left his friends, was also not taken into consideration for more than a few moments。 Which is not the worse thing to happen, but narratively it could have been more explored。It saddens me to do this review cause this is one of my favorite saga's, but it did not need a continuation and I just feel that the plot is getting lost。 。。。more

Gorier than most in this series。 Fun, but it reads like connective tissue。 Every series has at least one book that is not so much about what is happening in the book itself, but more about positioning the reader for the next one。 It does that effectively though, right up to the major twist ending。 My wife already shoved me out of the way to start Book 6。 It does say something that I'm still interested this deep into a series。 I could see myself re-reading these。 Audiobooks lose something in this Gorier than most in this series。 Fun, but it reads like connective tissue。 Every series has at least one book that is not so much about what is happening in the book itself, but more about positioning the reader for the next one。 It does that effectively though, right up to the major twist ending。 My wife already shoved me out of the way to start Book 6。 It does say something that I'm still interested this deep into a series。 I could see myself re-reading these。 Audiobooks lose something in this series, of course, because you don't have the weird pictures。 I plan to get a print copy so I can fully appreciate Riggs' vision。 。。。more

The best thing about this book is probably the relationship between Noor and Jacob。 The story is good as the characters are always doing something to move the plot forward。 However, it is a typical middle book as it is neither the beginning nor the end of a story。 I was well entertained, but I can also understand why some people are disappointed。 It is shallow entertainment without much depth as the real character developments will come in the next book。 。。。more

I will be honest here, I had no idea what was going on for most of the time (and it was probably mostly my fault because I wasn't really paying attention) so I'll give it a middle of the road 3 stars :) I'm just kind of mad this series is continuing as I firmly believe it should have ended at book 3 but I committed after I read book 4 so now I just have to see if I can even try to remember the plot of this one before I can borrow the last one。 I even just listened to the audiobook because I coul I will be honest here, I had no idea what was going on for most of the time (and it was probably mostly my fault because I wasn't really paying attention) so I'll give it a middle of the road 3 stars :) I'm just kind of mad this series is continuing as I firmly believe it should have ended at book 3 but I committed after I read book 4 so now I just have to see if I can even try to remember the plot of this one before I can borrow the last one。 I even just listened to the audiobook because I could not be bothered to pick it up and read with my eyes (although I did miss out on the cool pictures but I'll get over it)。 Can't wait for the next one I guess???? 。。。more

3。75/5WHY CAN’T THESE CHARACTERS BE HAPPY FOR ONCE?! STOP MAKING THEM SUFFER, RIGGS!!!this was definitely better than the previous book, however it’s only slightly better。 it felt like a filler。 there were a few things that could have been executed better, and the plot was kind of all over the place for a while — if the book was a bit longer, it wouldn’t have felt very rushed。 but i still really enjoyed it!something that i particularly didn’t like was how emma was barely involved here。 i underst 3。75/5WHY CAN’T THESE CHARACTERS BE HAPPY FOR ONCE?!
