Summary

This rambunctious and big-hearted story of kindness--reminiscent of the Crayons and Cindy Lou Who--is written by the bestselling author of Ordinary People Change the World and illustrated by the Caldecott Medal-winning creator of Beekle

Sunday quit, just like that。 She said she was tired of being a day。 And so the other days of the week had no choice but to advertise: "WANTED: A NEW DAY。 Must be relaxing, tranquil, and replenishing。 Serious inquires only。" Soon lots of hopefuls arrived with their suggestions, such as Funday, Bunday, Acrobaturday, SuperheroDay, and even MonstersWhoResembleJellyfishDay! Things quickly got out of hand 。 。 。 until one more candidate showed up: a little girl with a thank-you gift for Sunday。 The girl suggested simply a nice day--a day to be kind。 And her gratitude made a calendar's worth of difference to Sunday, who decided she didn't need to quit after all。

When we appreciate each other a little bit more, all the days of the week can be brand-new days where everything is possible。

What would happen if Inside Out met The Day the Crayons Quit? This book。 It's all a little bit too much。 But Dan Santat is--as ever--very good here。 What would happen if Inside Out met The Day the Crayons Quit? Funny with humor for kids and adults! The Caturday pun was great and consistently lurking in the back of the pages。 The sly joke about VP Gerry was great! The message is clear and impactful。 The illustrations are colorful and detailed。A great storytime option!

This was a book that seemed to go on and on。 It started off funny and then it wasn’t。 The ending was the thing that got me。 It was full of sweet sentiment and heart。

Chock full of insane silliness; wonderful, bright, colorful illustrations。 I vote for Caturday。

This is a funny picture book! It's a bit long, so it would also appeal to young elementary kids。 This is a funny picture book! It's a bit long, so it would also appeal to young elementary kids。 。。。more

Sunday is burned out and quits so the other days of the week hold tryouts for a replacement。 This is a laugh-out-loud humorous picture book with plenty of clever wordplay and an uplifting message about kindness。 With wonderfully humorous illustrations, there is plenty of storytelling on each page。 Readers will especially appreciate the rivalry between the dogs and the cats。 An entertaining story that will appeal to readers who enjoy The Day the Crayons Quit by Drew Daywait。

Longer picture book perfect for children ages 4+。 Sunday is just not feeling her job anymore。 She needs a break from being a day。 So when she disappears the other days of the week must find a replacement for her。 Hilarity ensues as everyone (and I do mean everyone) wants to audition to be the new day of the week。

This format is a tough one。 There are enough graphic novel elements to make it an impossible storytime readaloud and a tough one for a parent to read to a child。 Yet the content and story is too young for a child who can confidently read the text。 The concept of the book is good, but the over-reliance on the graphic novel format makes it hard to reach the target preschool audience。

This was cute and funny and honestly the very last pages (with the copyright information) were basically the best- but you need to read the rest of the book first。 I really liked the illustrations, though they felt a bit reminiscent of the emotions from Inside Out。 It was a cute, fun, well-paced book with a good plot and a good ending。

Sunday is quitting her job, throwing the rest of the week into chaos。 Holding tryouts to try to find the best new day lead to disastrous, hilarious concoctions。 As ever, Dan Santat's bright artwork takes this silly story to the next level。 Sunday is quitting her job, throwing the rest of the week into chaos。 Holding tryouts to try to find the best new day lead to disastrous, hilarious concoctions。 As ever, Dan Santat's bright artwork takes this silly story to the next level。 。。。more

A fun, silly, colorful book that reminds us to be kind and thoughtful to make every day of the week better。 Fans of The Day the Crayons Quit will enjoy this title as well。 Highly recommended for both school and public libraries。

I just don't like these types of books。 I feel like this would have been better as a Pixar short than a text book。 Also got major Inside Out vibes from the art。 I just don't like these types of books。 I feel like this would have been better as a Pixar short than a text book。 Also got major Inside Out vibes from the art。 。。。more

So what if one of the days of the week decided to quit? Which might it be and what would happen next? Chaos for sure as the other days tried to find a suitable replacement。 And the ideas are wild and crazy。 The accompanying illustrations are very colorful and vibrant。 I did feel the story fell a bit flat at the end。

Amanda

this would make an amazing book for a storytime。

This was a cute story that had a lot of fun and silliness to it but also taught a lesson in making sure to show your appreciation。 The art work reminded me a lot of the emotion characters from Inside Out and it was fun to see the different days envisioned in that way。。。

A cute and humorous read aloud that kids will enjoy。

Fun Modern Story, to remind us not to take a day for granted。 I think kids could have fun creating their own day。 Its a fun read。

A fun, cute children’s book written in comic book style。 It was enjoyable and fun。 I think it would have any (older) kid laughing out loud, a lot of the jokes went over my littles head but it was fun anyways!

So, I did think it was really funny and cute but it was just too much/over the head of my 5 year old。 Better suited for 1st/2nd graders, IMO。

3。5 Stars - This book was brought out in a stack for my 4 year old niece and was the book she choose but a little long and over her head content/joke wise。 She’ll love it more in a few years。
