Summary

Librarian's note: See alternate cover editions for this ISBN here

Clary Fray just wishes that her life would go back to normal。 But what's normal when you're a demon-slaying Shadowhunter, your mother is in a magically induced coma, and you can suddenly see Downworlders like werewolves, vampires, and faeries? If Clary left the world of the Shadowhunters behind, it would mean more time with her best friend, Simon, who's becoming more than a friend。 But the Shadowhunting world isn't ready to let her go — especially her handsome, infuriating, newfound brother, Jace。 And Clary's only chance to help her mother is to track down rogue Shadowhunter Valentine, who is probably insane, certainly evil — and also her father。

To complicate matters, someone in New York City is murdering Downworlder children。 Is Valentine behind the killings — and if he is, what is he trying to do? When the second of the Mortal Instruments, the Soul-Sword, is stolen, the terrifying Inquisitor arrives to investigate and zooms right in on Jace。 How can Clary stop Valentine if Jace is willing to betray everything he believes in to help their father?

In this breathtaking sequel to City of Bones, Cassandra Clare lures her readers back into the dark grip of New York City's Downworld, where love is never safe and power becomes the deadliest temptation。

Me ha gustado más que el primero。 Pasan muchas más cosas y aunque me sigue pareciendo algo infantil, se ve un cambio en los personajes que ha favorecido a la trama。 Sin duda, Luke sigue siendo mi personaje favorito。4/5⭐

City of Ashes Is the second book in the mortal instrument series by Cassandra Clare, its a follow a young girl called Cary Fray who just wishes that her life would go back to normal。 But what is normal for anymore especially now she entered the Shadowhunter world, that consists of Downworlders like werewolves, vampires, and faeries。 Even if she could leave it all behind it would mean leaving her newfound sexy brother behind, as well as leaving her mother who is in a sleep coma so what will she d City of Ashes Is the second book in the mortal instrument series by Cassandra Clare, its a follow a young girl called Cary Fray who just wishes that her life would go back to normal。 But what is normal for anymore especially now she entered the Shadowhunter world, that consists of Downworlders like werewolves, vampires, and faeries。 Even if she could leave it all behind it would mean leaving her newfound sexy brother behind, as well as leaving her mother who is in a sleep coma so what will she do?The story is told in third person and mostly from the perspective of Clary, which for the most part works very well since it means that the reader can share Clary’s sense of bewilderment and wonder at the secret world that is revealed to her。 I’m going to be honest and say this was not my favourite book out of the series and that is saying something considering this series is my ultimo favourite series by Cassandra Clare。 Honestly for me like in the first book my problem was Simon he really irritated me to no end especially when he kept trying to push Clary into a relationship with him and how he kept telling her what to do。(view spoiler)[Other than the problem with problem with Simon I actually enjoyed the story itself especially when Jace’s adopted mother seems to cast him away from the family and the Institute, but he finds out later she did it to protect him。 That was a real emotion scene for me especially when Jace hold in his emotions so to see him some what emotional made me see another side to him。 (hide spoiler)]I will always love the first book because it got me into reading and honestly it was much better than this one。 Now that isn’t to say I don’t love this book because I do especially the scenes between Clary and Jace they were the two that save the book to be honest as well as Valentine。Nevertheless if it wasn’t for Simon I would rate this book a five stars but honestly for me Simon bought the book down。 。。。more

Me gustó un poco menos que el primero。 La forma de acción continúa que tiene se hace un poco pesada, pero la verdad que es una saga genial y solo quiero seguir leyendo más y más

Wow what a cliff hanger! Also I am very pleased that none of the good main characters died like at all which is very surprising since like it gave hints that like 3 of them died but。。。 they didn’t!So this book was very good and exciting to read although I have to say that at one point I wanted to call Clary a jerk and shout at Jace that she doesn’t deserve him。Which brings me into the next part of this review where I would just like to say, why? At first I was like: HMMM like Mortal Instruments, as a JOKE, but bro。。。 I don’t think it’s a joke anymore。That book was so far better than the first one, here we have more development of the Shadowhunter World。 It’s amazing see the meaning of each one mortal instrument and the story behind it。The characters。。。 well。。。 Clary isn’t the best main character, Jace still a @sshol€, BUT, we can see the development of Luke, Izzy, Simon and Alec! The romance。。。 I’m glad that Malec exists! That’s it! It was maybe a little better than the first one but I still can’t find myself invested in the characters。 I’m still determined to make it to book 4 and see if what people say is true and they get better but I remain a very disappointed fantasy lover ):

A great second book。 I really like the characters in these stories and, what’s impressive, is that although there are a lot of them, I don’t find myself trying to remember who’s who。 Cassandra Clare makes each of them memorable, which is no mean feat。Looking forward to the next one。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Achei como se fosse um livro de transição。 Não gostei do mini relacionamento da Clary e do Simon, foi super forçado。 Não me importei muito com as cenas de incesto porque sei q não são mesmo irmãos mas foram tão poucas。 Eu esperava mais cenas só do Jace e da Clary。Amei a relação que foi construída entre o Jace e o Luke, o tanto que o Luke percebe e entende ele。 Foi lindo。 Também fiquei surpresa com os poderes da Clary, são mais poderosos do que eu pensei。Valentine provou ser um ser mais odioso do Achei como se fosse um livro de transição。 Não gostei do mini relacionamento da Clary e do Simon, foi super forçado。 Não me importei muito com as cenas de incesto porque sei q não são mesmo irmãos mas foram tão poucas。 Eu esperava mais cenas só do Jace e da Clary。Amei a relação que foi construída entre o Jace e o Luke, o tanto que o Luke percebe e entende ele。 Foi lindo。 Também fiquei surpresa com os poderes da Clary, são mais poderosos do que eu pensei。Valentine provou ser um ser mais odioso do que eu achei ser possível 。。。more

3。5 More perfectly acceptable YA Urban Fantasy。 Maybe I wasn’t as invested, but it felt like the things I liked about the first book (the mythology and pop culture woven throughout) felt less present, even though the mythology in particular is central to the plot。 Maybe it was just less engaged with it? Genuinely not sure on this one。 Shoutout to the Seelie court though, this section did feel like there was a dialogue going on in conversation with lore and folktales。 Still planning on moving on 3。5 More perfectly acceptable YA Urban Fantasy。 Maybe I wasn’t as invested, but it felt like the things I liked about the first book (the mythology and pop culture woven throughout) felt less present, even though the mythology in particular is central to the plot。 Maybe it was just less engaged with it? This book was better than the first one。 I'm hoping that bodes well for the rest of the series。 I liked a couple of the twists introduced in this book (view spoiler)[specifically Simon becoming a vampire (hide spoiler)]。 I also have a suspicion that I started early on in this book that by the end I was confident was true (view spoiler)[that Jace and Clary aren't brother and sister (hide spoiler)]。 This book was better than the first one。 I'm hoping that bodes well for the rest of the series。 I liked a couple of the twists introduced in this book (view spoiler)[specifically Simon becoming a vampire (hide spoiler)]。 I also have a suspicion that I started early on in this book that by the end I was confident was true (view spoiler)[that Jace and Clary aren't brother and sister (hide spoiler)]。 。。。more

Outstanding sequel, I think this second book was more excited than the first one, especially the chemistry between two certain character。 Super recommended。

2。5 stars Marginally better than the first book。 I really don’t like incest (real or not) as a romantic plot device and the fact that it’s being drawn out for so long really detracts from the story。 Clary’s POVs were a huge pain to get through as well, and I found myself more engaged with the story when it was being told from someone else’s POV, which is unfortunate since Clary is the main character。 I really don’t think this book, and the series in general, needs to be so drawn out, but I’m sti 2。5 stars Marginally better than the first book。 I really don’t like incest (real or not) as a romantic plot device and the fact that it’s being drawn out for so long really detracts from the story。 Clary’s POVs were a huge pain to get through as well, and I found myself more engaged with the story when it was being told from someone else’s POV, which is unfortunate since Clary is the main character。 I really don’t think this book, and the series in general, needs to be so drawn out, but I’m still curious enough about what happens next, so I’ll pick up the next book eventually。 。。。more

The hardest part of reading City of Ashes was that it has been over a year since I read city of bones and I have quite forgotten most of what I read。 I honestly watched the movie and some of the series so that didn't help with keeping the storyline straight。The book was good。 Nothing great but it was an amusing ride。I find it hard to believe that there is not going to be a bait and switch towards the end of the series。 Either they are not truly blood siblings because he used the blood of an ange The hardest part of reading City of Ashes was that it has been over a year since I read city of bones and I have quite forgotten most of what I read。 I honestly watched the movie and some of the series so that didn't help with keeping the storyline straight。The book was good。 Nothing great but it was an amusing ride。I find it hard to believe that there is not going to be a bait and switch towards the end of the series。 Either they are not truly blood siblings because he used the blood of an angel to do something or it is common for Shadowhunter siblings to marry。I am glad that Simon has seen things for what they are, I don't like the 'I loved her forever and pined over her until death' characters which now means I have less respect for Luke。All in all the series is worth the read so far。 。。。more

The start of the book was filled many interesting events, like Clarys dreams of what was happening with people。 This book had many sad parts and questionable moments。 During some parts it became a little boring。
