Kathleen is eighty years old。 After a run-in with an intruder, her daughter wants her to move into a residential home。 She’s not having any of it。 What she craves – needs – is adventure。

Liza is drowning under the daily stress of family life。 The last thing she needs is her mother jetting off on a wild holiday, making Liza dream of a solo break of her own。

Martha is having a quarter-life crisis。 Unemployed, unloved and uninspired, she just can’t get her life together。 But she knows something has to change。

When Martha sees Kathleen’s advert for a driver and companion to take an epic road trip across America, she decides this job might be the answer to her prayers。 Travelling with a stranger? No problem。 She's not the world's best driver, but it couldn’t be worse than living with her parents again。 And anyway, how much trouble can one eighty-year-old woman be?

As these women embark on the journey of a lifetime, they all discover it’s never too late for adventure…

Provided by NetGalley for an honest review。This was such a quick read! I was engrossed from the beginning and hated putting it down。 This is a fabulous story of 3 women and their differences, yet also coming to the realisation how similar they actually are。 Everyone has a way of doing things。 Living life。 How we tackle it shapes us, our choices, our decisions。 But also, we are all affected by outside influences, be they family, friends, pets etc。 It all shapes us as people and this book brings a Provided by NetGalley for an honest review。This was such a quick read! This was a great summer read that took me away from the doldrums of pandemic quarantine onto the road of discovering new things and being open to new adventures。 Kathleen is an eccentric and fun eighty-year old who is determined to go on a road trip across America。 She needs a companion and chooses Martha, a twenty-something who is still trying to find herself and her purpose in life。 Kathleen leaves behind her morose and worrying daughter Liza, a middle-aged woman who is burdened down with her This was a great summer read that took me away from the doldrums of pandemic quarantine onto the road of discovering new things and being open to new adventures。 Kathleen is an eccentric and fun eighty-year old who is determined to go on a road trip across America。 She needs a companion and chooses Martha, a twenty-something who is still trying to find herself and her purpose in life。 Kathleen leaves behind her morose and worrying daughter Liza, a middle-aged woman who is burdened down with her responsibilities in life and has forgotten to take care of herself。 There is thus a character for all generations to relate to: wild and carefree Kathleen who has just gotten her second wind in life; stalwart and long suffering Liza who is desperate to discover a place for herself beyond her family and its stress; and Martha, the exuberant young woman who is open to adventure。 At the beginning, the tone of the book was one of humor and was light-hearted。 As the book progressed, there were some somber and thought-provoking moments。 Reading the book was like taking a journey on the road of life and the three main characters portrayed traveling down this road perfectly。 This was an uplifting story of self-discovery and being open to looking for and finding new things in life, even at an advanced age。 I loved this book and highly recommend it to those who enjoy contemporary fiction and a good read。DisclaimerDisclosure of Material Connection: I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via Netgalley。 I was not required to write a positive review。 The opinions expressed are my own。 I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255, “Guides Concerning the Use of Testimonials and Endorsements in Advertising。” 。。。more

I found myself swept up into this book。 It was fun, witty, emotional, and tender all at once。 I found myself ride the waves of every emotion。When two women who are practical strangers go on a cross-country road trip anything can happen。 Sarah Morgan had a way of taking 3 very different women in different stages of life and weaved a brilliant story。 A story of finding balance, living life, and facing your fears, and overcoming。 I was so captivated by this story I could hardly put it down。 I could I found myself swept up into this book。 It was fun, witty, emotional, and tender all at once。 I found myself ride the waves of every emotion。When two women who are practical strangers go on a cross-country road trip anything can happen。 Sarah Morgan had a way of taking 3 very different women in different stages of life and weaved a brilliant story。 A story of finding balance, living life, and facing your fears, and overcoming。 I was so captivated by this story I could hardly put it down。 I could feel myself on this road trip learning about life and finding my path。I will also say I fell in love with Kathleen。 I can only hope that when I'm eighty I will have the bravery to go on a cross-country trip。 She s someone I could see myself being friends with。 This was a truly beautiful and well-written story。 。。。more

First and foremost I must say, "Thank You" to Harlequin Books for allowing me this honor to review Sarah Morgan's passionate new work-The Summer Seekers-for this Summer 2021 Blog Tour。This book has transported me to a time and place that's unknown。 A time when you could hop in the car and just drive-leaving your worries and cares behind。It's true the past meets present in this sparkling new piece but with a feisty woman on the run there's no telling where it'll end up。In fact, half the joy was i First and foremost I must say, "Thank You" to Harlequin Books for allowing me this honor to review Sarah Morgan's passionate new work-The Summer Seekers-for this Summer 2021 Blog Tour。This book has transported me to a time and place that's unknown。 A time when you could hop in the car and just drive-leaving your worries and cares behind。It's true the past meets present in this sparkling new piece but with a feisty woman on the run there's no telling where it'll end up。In fact, half the joy was in watching where Route 66 would take these ladies Kathleen and her sidekick (driver) Martha。 Martha along the way picks up a few passengers which adds a richness to the entire feel of this novel。 I'll bet she's livened up after this experience from the downtrodden, self-pitying, unemployed status she filled before。Now, if this doesn't entice you to pick up then perhaps you'd be interested in learning there's plenty of hidden landmines along this route。Life has a habit of throwing us curves and Kathleen is no exception。 In fact, her daughter always hoped she wouldn't be the apple that fell from the tree and in fact she might just be the whole entire tree。 LOL。In the end, this lively bunch finds a way to continue that magic that propelled me to gravitate towards this journey and what a journey to behold。WOW!I'm blown away not just in the writing but in the configuration, the editing, the entire package was SWEET!I'm so glad Sarah jotted down notes to recall this memory for this underlying theme on her own personal journey because this book baby wouldn't be in my hands or other reader/reviewers hands at this point in time。The characters had so many layers that it was better than peeling an onion to the core。 In fact, the further we went along the more layers we uncovered along with the tears that continuously flowed like the river -Nile。Oh, baby what a powerful and loving new creation by Morgan because as they say, "every road leads somewhere。"This road led me down so many memory lanes that it's hard to pick just one thing, one topic, one section to go into further detail。Do me a favor, make a mental note, this is a must read。 Then, go out, don't walk but run, and grab a copy of this the split second that you're able as you won't regret doing it。 。。。more

So when I got an email about The Summer Seekers, I instantly requested an early read。An absolutely delightful and heartfelt read, The Summer Seekers is a warm and exciting story with lovable characters and an inspirational journey。It did take me a while to really love the story as we are presented with the characters' flaws at the beginning, so it takes a while to see what path they want to take and whether you want to follow them。 But just like A Wedding in December, Morgan perfectly captures the emotions of her characters and I was desperate for a good outcome for them all。 By the end, I loved Liza, Martha, and Kathleen and felt so happy for them all。 I especially connected to Liza who is drowning under the daily stress of family life。 When you're a wife and a mother, it's so easy to become overwhelmed by everybody else's needs and struggle to find time for your own, so I really related to Liza on a personal level。 But I love how her relationship with her husband progressed and that it didn't succumb to any cliches。And although Kathleen takes a trip to America, it is the Cornish setting that will have you dreaming of the beach and the feel of the sand between your toes。 The Summer Seekers is the perfect summer read, and for every other season come to think of it。Thank you to NetGalley for a free advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review。 。。。more

Firstly interesting characters。 Kathleen has lived a life, she likes adventure and not being stuck safe somewhere。 She lives in a delightful cottage with a half blind three legged cat。 She has a few things in her life that haven't been faced or acknowledged。 She keeps to herself and isn't free around emotions and touch。Her daughter Liza is a modern mother, caring for the family, holding down a job and supporting a busy family life with teenage daughter twins。 But。。。 she is denying her own needs, Firstly interesting characters。 Kathleen has lived a life, she likes adventure and not being stuck safe somewhere。 She lives in a delightful cottage with a half blind three legged cat。 She has a few things in her life that haven't been faced or acknowledged。 She keeps to herself and isn't free around emotions and touch。Her daughter Liza is a modern mother, caring for the family, holding down a job and supporting a busy family life with teenage daughter twins。 But。。。 she is denying her own needs, and she wants to organise her mother and make sure she is safe。 Martha is delightful but without a job, and when Kathleen wants a driver for a trip across America well she is game to give it a go。  Her family are not that supportive of her so she doesn't recognise the wonderful qualities she has。。。 until she meets Kathleen。There is a fun road adventure in a red convertible, with plenty happening along the way。 But what is more important than the outer journey is the inner journey that each of the women make。It's a very satisfying read, I liked that it didn't dwell on long details of the trip, it moved along very smoothly。 More time was given to what was happening for each of the characters and the journey of self discovery they were making。 。。。more

The Summer Seekers is a heartwarming book, a journey of self-discovery and reconciliation。 The characters in this book, especially Kathleen, Liza, and Martha, quickly became dear to me。 I wanted so badly for each of them to find happiness and peace, and a future filled with love。 They all three have things to work through, emotional barriers to break down, and I loved being along for the ride。 They made me laugh and cry; I worried about them, I celebrated with them。 This book needs to be in ever The Summer Seekers is a heartwarming book, a journey of self-discovery and reconciliation。 The characters in this book, especially Kathleen, Liza, and Martha, quickly became dear to me。 I wanted so badly for each of them to find happiness and peace, and a future filled with love。 They all three have things to work through, emotional barriers to break down, and I loved being along for the ride。 They made me laugh and cry; I worried about them, I celebrated with them。 This book needs to be in everybody’s beach bag—an uplifting book that takes us all on a journey, from England to Chicago to California and all points in-between, cheering on these wonderful characters! 。。。more

I love reading books where the points of view cross generations。 The Summer Seekers by Sarah Morgan is just that – a book about an 80 year old woman, her adult daughter, and the 24 year old that agrees to drive her along Route 66。 I really enjoyed this road trip book, and if you like interesting family dynamics, loveable characters and handsome strangers then this is a book you should definitely pick up when it releases at the end of May。After a scare while she’s alone in her Cornwall cottage, K I love reading books where the points of view cross generations。 The Summer Seekers by Sarah Morgan is just that – a book about an 80 year old woman, her adult daughter, and the 24 year old that agrees to drive her along Route 66。 I really enjoyed this road trip book, and if you like interesting family dynamics, loveable characters and handsome strangers then this is a book you should definitely pick up when it releases at the end of May。After a scare while she’s alone in her Cornwall cottage, Kathleen has had enough。 With her travel presenting past, she misses adventure。 She refuses to be put in an old people’s home like her anxious daughter Liza would prefer, so decides to take on another trip, the first since her husband died。 She will road trip Route 66。 The only problem is, 80 year old Kathleen can’t drive anymore。In steps 24 year old Martha, a young woman always in the shadow of her successful sister。 Martha, still living with her judgemental parents, is lacking confidence but the opportunity to drive Kathleen across the United States seems to good to be true。 Needing an escape to find herself again after the end of her marriage, Martha takes the job。Liza’s life is chaotic – she works as an art teacher but the main demands on her time are her family – her husband Sean is always busy with his architecture firm, and her twin daughters Caitlin and Alice are so used to having everything done for them that they never thank Liza for everything she does。 When her mother Kathleen goes on a crazy road trip, Liza snaps and takes the opportunity to escape to the cottage in Cornwall。I really enjoyed this book! I loved the friendship that develops between Kathleen and Martha as they learn from each other。 Martha was such a relatable character and it warmed by heart to see her grow in confidence in not only her driving but in herself。 Martha’s road trip romance (set up by Kathleen) was also adorable – Josh was such a sweet guy。 I also really liked that even though Kathleen and Liza were in different countries, they repaired a relationship that had always been strained。 It was good to see them open up to each other at last。 Kathleen also considers whether she should re-unite with an old friend after 60 years apart, and I liked that the book showed it is never too late to re-connect with people。Overall I found this to be a heart-warming book that made me smile and even happy cry on occasions。 I really love books where the points of view are from characters with different ages, and this one is no different。 There are lots of emotional messages throughout and I’m really glad I picked this from NetGalley。Will you be reading The Summer Seekers when it releases in May? It’s the perfect contemporary read for this summer, that’s for sure。 。。。more

This was a lovely summer beach read, easy reading that you can just pick up and get back into。 Great descriptions of the places they visited and what can be achieved at 80 years old。

I won this book in a giveaway, but that doesn't alter my opinion。 It doesn't have to alter my opinion。 This is, hands down, one of the best books that I've read in a long time。 This book was incredible。 The plot is wonderful。 The characterization is incredible。 In books where the focus is on multiple characters, there's usually one that I care more/less for than the others。 I cared about everyone in this book, and I was invested in all their stories。The writing was really well done, as well。 The I won this book in a giveaway, but that doesn't alter my opinion。 It doesn't have to alter my opinion。 This is, hands down, one of the best books that I've read in a long time。 This book was incredible。 The plot is wonderful。 The characterization is incredible。 In books where the focus is on multiple characters, there's usually one that I care more/less for than the others。 I cared about everyone in this book, and I was invested in all their stories。The writing was really well done, as well。 There was so much emotion in this book, and I went from laughing about things to tearing up。 I can't say enough about this book, but I'm definitely adding the author to my list of authors to which I pay attention! 。。。more
