Oh wow。 Another heartbreak of a read for me。 Just two brothers one with autism who were let down by their family and the system， left to fend for themselves。 The title says it all… They just wanted a home and family。 They’re not proud of how they have had to survive but they did it to survive。The bond between these two brothers is absolutely amazing but they still had their ups and downs。 Sam one day enters a house that is far from deserted and find himself dragged into the big， different family Oh wow。 Another heartbreak of a read for me。 Just two brothers one with autism who were let down by their family and the system， left to fend for themselves。 The title says it all… They just wanted a home and family。 They’re not proud of how they have had to survive but they did it to survive。The bond between these two brothers is absolutely amazing but they still had their ups and downs。 Sam one day enters a house that is far from deserted and find himself dragged into the big， different family。 He was accepted and he liked that。 But will they discover just how he really came into their lives by borrowing their house？ Will they turn on him？ He soon finds himself very friendly with one of the girls Moxie and he doesn’t want to loose any of it。A story of hope， acceptance and love。 But also a story full of abuse， fights， crime and abandonment。 The story flicks between the boys present and past， the difference between the two is huge。 Upsetting。 I actually fell in love with both the brothers。 Poor boys。 The ending is a bit of a cliffhanger and I would love to know what happened to Sam。 Really enjoyed this one。 Loved it。 Highly recommend。 A well deserved four stars from me。 。。。more

It was a lovely tale but missed a trick in exploring deeper issues。The book encapsulates the notion that young offenders aren’t always bad， they’ve missed out on love and stability and are merely surviving the best way they know how how。 An easy read and a beautiful story， just needed more grit

“You can do monstrous things and not be a monster。” ⭐️⭐️⭐️ （3/5）I hesitated a lot when writing this review， because I liked many things in this book， but I also cannot lie that this wasn’t my favorite from some aspects。The story was touching， heartbreaking。 Sometimes it also makes me angry to see the world being so mean for these two boys who need help。 And to see the anxiety and fear from Sam’s POV is often making me reflect on myself。 I also liked Moxie， she’s just so full of energy。 And with h “You can do monstrous things and not be a monster。” ⭐️⭐️⭐️ （3/5）I hesitated a lot when writing this review， because I liked many things in this book， but I also cannot lie that this wasn’t my favorite from some aspects。The story was touching， heartbreaking。 Sometimes it also makes me angry to see the world being so mean for these two boys who need help。 And to see the anxiety and fear from Sam’s POV is often making me reflect on myself。 I also liked Moxie， she’s just so full of energy。 And with her role as the only girl in her family， to take care everything and be a ‘mother’ even though she’s just a teenager， woah I must learn so much from her how to be that strong。 She must be tired 24/7， but still manages to do her things and being such a lively character。 I also loved her family， despite it being so loud every day， but I enjoyed the warmth and the banter between them。 So， the downside。 Some scenes were less realistic， like when someone hit by the car and still manages to get away？ And then there are many plot holes， but that’s actually okay， because maybe it wants to focus on Sammy and Moxie relationship and how Sam found his true family。 The last， I don’t really liked the writing style， often repetitive， so I found myself skimming when reading this especially when it comes to Sammy’s anxiety part。 Overall， if you like to read a story about found family （and it’s a big and loud family）， not-so-typical teeny romance， autism rep， with a little criminal/thieves and dark touch， so this is for you！ 。。。more
