After reading Maze Runner and enjoying it, I decided to read the series。 I really enjoyed the first book and the movies (yes I watched the film first I'm a naughty naughty girl!) Now if you're thinking of reading this wanting the movie, read something else。 This book is NOTHING like the film。Now, for teen dystopia it's got so much going on。 There are zombies, powerful tech, evil people in power, group politics, twists and turns, romance and friendship。 All of this makes it super fast paced and really interesting。 Now I've read a few reviews that moan about Thomas "passing out" so often (someone counted 29 times) but considering they are starving, beaten and chased by zombies (and much more) it isn't a big deal。 I think you'd have to be superhuman to not pass out if drugged, shot, hit in the head etc。I saw other criticism about the romance being shoehorned in, which I don't think is the case。 The romance started in book 1 and existed before the maze。 Other criticism was that WICKED kept winning。 But that's not true as they had to unexpectedly step in, in the city。 And them being 2 steps ahead is kind of the point。。。 I enjoyed the book。 Don't forget it's teen fiction, so there are shorter chapters, fast paced action and sometimes not all characters are fully fleshed out。 I liked the addition of Jorge and Brenda。 I liked the development of Newt and Minho。 Thomas' characterisation is excellent。 You never know what is coming next。 I really hate the character of Teresa, but in a good way! It shows the writer has done his job。 Despite not agreeing with some criticism, it's not perfect。 My criticism was that for a dystopia, very few "key characters" die。 Don't get me wrong, many die, but they aren't close to Thomas unlike the deaths in book 1。 Maybe that's me being an evil Slytherin, but I would have expected a big shock death。 。。。more

Basically starts off right after the first one, Thomas and the gladers are in this place, put there by WICKED and separated from Teresa。 They end up being told they have to get through the next phase of these trials, "the scorch trials"。 And they are what they sound like, scorching desert sun and sand, with desert storms that can be deadly, not to mention the crazy people with the flare。。。My thoughts:I freaking love Brenda and Jorge!!! A great sequel, gets more entertaining as it progresses。 In some part I felt completely lost within the book - and this doesn’t happen often, if at all

I am obsessed with this book! It had me hooked straight away and kept me intrigued all the way through it with the never ending drama。 I thought that the characters were portrayed in a much better way in this book than the first book。 I am so excited to go on and read the third book, what a cliffhanger for this book to end on! I would absolutely recommend it💕

This book is crazy the plot is all over the place。 I don't think anyone ever could have predicted what happens。 I love that the author always keeps you curious as to whats going to happen next it feels as if the whole series is one book。 Instead of their own book。 Which I love it makes the series more entertaining。 The book also has you questioning a lot like oh no what has that character done wait a minute we should trust that character。 So it definitely has you on your toes but in the best way This book is crazy the plot is all over the place。 I don't think anyone ever could have predicted what happens。 I love that the author always keeps you curious as to whats going to happen next it feels as if the whole series is one book。 Instead of their own book。 Which I love it makes the series more entertaining。 The book also has you questioning a lot like oh no what has that character done wait a minute we should trust that character。 So it definitely has you on your toes but in the best way possible。 HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! 。。。more

The cranks seem VERY creepy。 I looked up a picture as to what they look like in the movies and it is not pretty。 Throughout the whole book I didn't trust Brenda。 I can't really tell if she's a spy from WICKED or not。 I am VERY angry with Teresa。 She tricked Tom just to get him to listen to her。 I don't even know if I should trust her now that I've finished the book。 I found it cool how there were 2 groups, Group A and Group Oh My God。。。This book might have been more intense than the first one!! This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I don’t get why people hate on this book so much! I mean ya it’s COMPLETELY different from the movies, which is strange。 But in my opinion it was still very interesting。 So confusing tho。 I hate Teresa, even if she betrayed Thomas for WICKED, at the end of the book she said WICKED is good。 I’m sick of her。 But Brenda is a great character and so is Jorge。 This book is overhated。 I don’t think I’m mentally prepared for death cure tho 😩。

Waooo!!!

sadly not as perfect as the first one but still a very good book。 i felt the story was a bit more confusing and all over the place but it did keep my attention (probably not as much as the maze runner since it took way too long to finish this one)。 and yes, thomas sleeps or pass out way too much throughout the book but what bothered me more was the nonsensical division of chapters。 i get really frustrated when a chapter doesn’t end on a significant cliffhanger and then just continue a normal eve sadly not as perfect as the first one but still a very good book。 i felt the story was a bit more confusing and all over the place but it did keep my attention (probably not as much as the maze runner since it took way too long to finish this one)。 and yes, thomas sleeps or pass out way too much throughout the book but what bothered me more was the nonsensical division of chapters。 i get really frustrated when a chapter doesn’t end on a significant cliffhanger and then just continue a normal event/conversation on the new chapter。 it makes me feel like i was forced to take a break that wasn’t necessary (i’m really not a fan of 2-page or less chapters)。 overall, i still enjoyed following thomas and the gladers on this new adventure and i really can’t wait to figure this whole wicked thing out。 i’m curious about the movie because i don’t remember any of it。 。。。more

2。5 stars for this one。This book is a pile of trash, I won’t lie。I feel like writing this review may not be worth my effort, but I’ll get out my top few thoughts anyway。My first and foremost thought is that Thomas and Teresa having a “feeling” that they “knew each other” before the Maze is the lamest excuse to account for their strong attachment。 It seems like a quick explanation to cover for thin & weak writing。 James should have cut out the love situation when he realized his forte is not writ 2。5 stars for this one。This book is a pile of trash, I won’t lie。I feel like writing this review may not be worth my effort, but I’ll get out my top few thoughts anyway。My first and foremost thought is that Thomas and Teresa having a “feeling” that they “knew each other” before the Maze is the lamest excuse to account for their strong attachment。 It seems like a quick explanation to cover for thin & weak writing。 James should have cut out the love situation when he realized his forte is not writing romance, but writing about angry slugs。 However here we are- a cliche hetero romance is just too tempting apparently, and FryPan didn’t make the cut :(It’s repetitive, Thomas is a 2d pancake of a character who can’t stay awake, and the plot is just disinteresting。 The only thing this book has going for it (for me) is that it tugged on my nostalgia strings pretty heavily。 Ironically, it brings me back to a time when things were so much easier。 。。。more

I was excited to reach this book after finishing Maze Runner but this one fell flat for me。 It left a “filler episode” kind of vibe。 If Thomas wasn’t running, he was passing out。 If he wasn’t passing out, he was obsessing over Teresa。 The betrayal story line felt awkward and everything was just disjointed and left me asking “why”。 I do look forward to the other books in this series and hope they get back to the quality of the first book!
