This book is from the famous Flylady。 It has an ouline of how to clean your house and keep it neat even if you are not motivated。 Although I will probably never make my bed first thing in the morning or scrub my kitchen sink first thing, there are other useful tips and she is funny!

This book is helpful and humorous! This lady has been there and she’s done her homework。 Not all her advice is practical for me but, there are some pretty valuable suggestions!

When You're Ready for a Sea Change of Your LifeAll I was looking for when I picked up this book was some cleaning/organization advice。 What I got was a new, refreshed attitude about loving yourself and your home。 Its grown into new mindset。 Oh, and I also got the cleaning/organization advice I needed。Written in a folksy, almost to motherly voice, the author recounts her own journey from a lost, overwhelmed, unorganized, depressed mess to the organized, accomplished at peace woman she has become。 When You're Ready for a Sea Change of Your LifeAll I was looking for when I picked up this book was some cleaning/organization advice。 What I got was a new, refreshed attitude about loving yourself and your home。 Its grown into new mindset。 Oh, and I also got the cleaning/organization advice I needed。Written in a folksy, almost to motherly voice, the author recounts her own journey from a lost, overwhelmed, unorganized, depressed mess to the organized, accomplished at peace woman she has become。 If you've ever struggled to manage your job, home, and family, you'll easily identify with her and her issues。No, it won't make your house clean and declutter itself, but Ms。 Cilley's contagious enthusiasm and clever methods will help you get it done。 I highly recommend this enlightening read to busy mom's (& dad's!) everywhere! 。。。more

Throw away all of your other “how to” books!!This book is not only a “how to keep your house clean” book, but also a self help one。 You learn how to manage your life and you can learn how to love yourself at the same time。 I purchased this book when it first came out, bought the Kindle version several years later and added the Audible book just recently。 I would recommend Sink Reflections to any and everyone! Now, as you learn from FlyLady herself, go get dressed and lace up those shoes!

One of the best books about cleaning and declutter。 Original and funny。 Loved it。

Come On InI have read this book before and I will read it again。 I have followed The Flylady Method on and off since 2000 (and my divorce)。 We all go off track sometimes and I’m back on the Fly Wagon。 My son has been watching and is starting too。

One of the kindest books on housekeeping ☺️

The 2000’s are alive and well in this book。 The amount of LOL’s are cringey and the wacky acronyms aren’t much better。 I’ve enjoyed watching a few YouTube FlyLady channels and thought I should read the original book to hear the backstory…I think I’ll just stick with YouTube。

Almost 20 years ago, my sister in law introduced me to the Flylady method。 I learned a lot from it。 I found my own system of organizing and keeping the house in a somewhat organized manner。 But this last year with COVID, starting back to school, and homeschooling, I have just been staying afloat。 Reading this has helped me get back into a system and to get somethings to be in autopilot so that I can give my kids and myself more attention。

I really like the fly lady system/"philosophy"。 It really helps me when I get overwhelmed and think I'm not good enough with my home。 I really recommended flylady youtube with creators like Diana in Denmark, the secret slob, love always Laday 。。。there are tons。 I really like the fly lady system/"philosophy"。 It really helps me when I get overwhelmed and think I'm not good enough with my home。 I really recommended flylady youtube with creators like Diana in Denmark, the secret slob, love always Laday 。。。there are tons。 。。。more

This book was definitely not for me。 I read it because I’ve seen it on a few lists; and who can’t use more tips for keeping the house clean? I don’t know。 She does talk a little about getting kids to help, but there are problems here too。 At one point, she says that if your child is struggling with a task, you should just do it yourself。。。 then later, she says to make it fun, and add rewards for kids。 Who rewards me for cleaning the bathroom?! Absolutely no one。So, yeah。 Not for me。 I did appreciate the reminders about not being perfect, and to remember baby steps。 But her writing style (and probably her lifestyle in general) just does not speak to me。 。。。more

。。。more

I read this book in about 2007。 It was really effective。 I still have the paperback and plan to revisit it。 I don’t do everything 。。。 but still begin with my kitchen sink and ultimately feel better about the state of my life。 As I do, I think of a favorite Agatha Christie quote about how her best plot ideas 💡 came to her while washing dishes。 Something very zen and meditative about these tasks。 🕉

This is a very good self help book on how to get your house in order。 The main thing to take away from this book is to take larger projects in small chunks or baby steps。 I love the things you do--starting small like each night clean your sink。 There is something about coming into the kitchen each morning and seeing it empty and clean。 Each and every night you empty and clean the sink will lead to other things。 Create and stick to both morning and evening routines。 You also have to declutter bef This is a very good self help book on how to get your house in order。 The main thing to take away from this book is to take larger projects in small chunks or baby steps。 I love the things you do--starting small like each night clean your sink。 There is something about coming into the kitchen each morning and seeing it empty and clean。 Each and every night you empty and clean the sink will lead to other things。 Create and stick to both morning and evening routines。 You also have to declutter before you can clean as you can't clean clutter。 There is a lot of good advice in this book and highly recommend it。 。。。more

Save money, go to her website。The cleaning and decluttering routines are solid, but nearly half the book is letters from her fans。 Excluding the testimonials and religious speak, the total amount of usable reading material is more worthy of a pamphlet。

One tip I will not be following in this book is to store extra pantry items in my bathroom。

LOVED the method hated the delivery。Marla's system has helped me immensely。 My house wasn't horrible before, but cleaning was stressful and I often felt that I was "binge cleaning"。 Now I know I can take 5 minutes while my morning tea is steeping or coffee is brewing and quickly organize/declutter。 As silly as it sounds, the idea that I can do so much in just 5 minutes is liberating。 And honestly for a recovering perfectionist, it's life-changing。The system has some great ideas, but I never real LOVED the method hated the delivery。Marla's system has helped me immensely。 My house wasn't horrible before, but cleaning was stressful and I often felt that I was "binge cleaning"。 Now I know I can take 5 minutes while my morning tea is steeping or coffee is brewing and quickly organize/declutter。 As silly as it sounds, the idea that I can do so much in just 5 minutes is liberating。 And honestly for a recovering perfectionist, it's life-changing。The system has some great ideas, but I never really "gelled" with Marla's personality。 It just sort of grated on me。 This was similar to reading Konmari: I liked her ideas (well, most of them), but hated actually reading them, though that was something I chalked up to cultural differences and losses from translation。There are also some less great ideas: like using bleach to "shine your sink" daily。 Haha。 NO。 Or subscribing to her emails。 Again, no。 Or afternoon, morning, and evening routines。 It's a bit much。 Just breaking some of the tasks down into 2-15 minute jobs makes things easier。 How you choose to execute those tasks is more personal。Dressing to shoes was one I seriously resisted as well。 I live somewhere, where it is rude to wear shoes in the house。 I did indeed start wearing one pair in the house--after washing them and picking out the stones in the soles。 That's actually been good for motivation (more due to working from home thanks to COVID)。As far as delivery, I found this book to be obnoxious and somehow snotty。 Often it seemed like it was her way or the highway。 Same with her website。 I just use it too look at the current zone and the missions, but honestly I'll probably note that elsewhere so I don't need it at all anymore。You don't need this book to understand the methods。 Save your money。 There are so many videos about it that do a great job explaining the system。I found Diane in Denmark on YouTube and was more motivated by her。 She also does a better job of explaining the complicated system so that it's not as overwhelming。 Going through the 31 babysteps with Diane was actually a pleasure。Marla has her "31 Babysteps", which are great in principle, but I don't like the way she explains them。 Like one of her steps is to subscribe to her emails。 Just don't。 It's too much。 And sorry, Marla, but digital clutter IS clutter。 I followed other people's advice and chose never to sub and don't feel I've missed out on anything。Thanks Marla, you've got really has great ideas, but it'll be a cold day in hell before I pour chlorine bleach into my sink to clean it。 。。。more

Ok I'm going to give this one a four 。 This was actually a re-read。 I first read it many, many years ago。 I loved it then and would probably say it was a five star book at the time。 It probably depends on your current situation while reading。Fast forward to this second reading and I'm more of a three。 The main thing that put me off was how she speaks to working women。 I felt that she was frankly mean to them。 While speaking to stay at home moms she came across as so supportive。 I've been both an Ok I'm going to give this one a four 。 This was actually a re-read。 I first read it many, many years ago。 I loved it then and would probably say it was a five star book at the time。 It probably depends on your current situation while reading。Fast forward to this second reading and I'm more of a three。 The main thing that put me off was how she speaks to working women。 I felt that she was frankly mean to them。 While speaking to stay at home moms she came across as so supportive。 I've been both and even if you only work part time it's exhausting。 I still do my best to get everything done but there is a major difference。 By the time I get through dinner I'm worn out。 If I don't work then by the time I get through dinner I may be tired but not to the same level。 I do like so many things in this book though。 The explanations on habits is wonderful and was such a nice reminder。 I also still really like the zones。 A lot of the daily tasks I've been doing for as long as I can remember and all are very helpful。 。。。more

This book is having a really positive effect on my life! I am slowly incorporating FlyLady’s ideas into my daily routines and am seeing the difference in my home, and feeling more peaceful。 I just needed someone to tell me what to do, and she does! If one can adapt this system to their home and life, I believe it will work and be life changing。 I'm always seeking perfection and want it all done now - this is working so far to get it done and break the old habits。 If one can adapt this system to their home and life, I believe it will work and be life changing。 I'm always seeking perfection and want it all done now - this is working so far to get it done and break the old habits。 。。。more

I keep going between 2。5 stars and 3。 I like a good bit and a lot seemed like good ideas to implement。 There were a few comments she made that really bothered me though, and the writing was pretty mediocre as well。

FlyLady is great! I wholeheartedly endorse her system and recommend this book; however, I will say it was confusing to get an overall understanding of how the system fits together and works as a whole。 I tried reading this book several times over the years, and alternatively going through the information on her website - and would get stuck every time。 I understood the various PARTS of the system - morning and evening routines, babysteps, decluttering techniques, zones for deep cleaning your hou FlyLady is great! I wholeheartedly endorse her system and recommend this book; however, I will say it was confusing to get an overall understanding of how the system fits together and works as a whole。 I tried reading this book several times over the years, and alternatively going through the information on her website - and would get stuck every time。 I understood the various PARTS of the system - morning and evening routines, babysteps, decluttering techniques, zones for deep cleaning your house。。。 but I couldn't get a sense of how they all worked together。 They were just a jumble of techniques swimming around in my brain。 She says to just jump in where you are at, but that doesn't work for someone like me - and it's not a perfectionist thing, either。 For anyone familiar with Myers-Briggs, I am an "N," and I'm fairly sure she is an "S。" As such, the way she lays out the system is in a very "S" fashion, and that made it difficult for me to understand how the "S" pieces fit together to make up the "N" bigger picture。 I finally broke out a notebook and made notes as I was reading, and "grouped" all my notes together where they belonged under the main concepts of routines, decluttering, zones, etc。 Once I had all the notes related to each concept all together in one place (rather than how they are in the book: tidbits sprinkled along the way throughout the whole thing), I could finally get the big picture, and was able to get my bearings in the sea of tips, tidbits and babysteps listed throughout the book。 My biggest confusion that got cleared up when I did this was how the routines and the zone cleaning relate to one another。 I thought the routines were meant to fit into the overall structure of the zone cleaning, and I kept getting lost this way。 The light bulb finally clicked when I realized the ROUTINES are the overall structure, and the zone cleaning fits into THEM, not the other way around! But because she had introduced the routines as part of the babysteps, I thought they were building up to an overarching structure。 I really did not understand that they WERE the structure for everything else that followed。 I thought they were just a small piece that would fit into a larger picture down the road, and when the larger picture never showed up, felt like I just had a bunch of loose puzzle pieces that I didn't know how to fit together。 Once I finally realized that, though, I was off to the races! That clicked into place, and now I've been naturally incorporating the routines bit by bit into my daily life, just as she teaches, until they become automatic。 I don't do the "letter of the law" of everything she says - such as shine my sink, or get dressed to shoes - but I do put into practice the principle behind those recommendations, such as making sure my kitchen sink is clear at the end of the night and ready and available for use right off the bat in the morning! Or, for shoes, since I am a barefoot/flip-flops girl and I abhor "lace-ups," I just make sure my flip-flops are always available to slip on without a thought if I need to do a task that takes me outside。 So if you take this approach to her recommendations, and realize that the routines ARE the big picture, I think this is the best approach to managing your home and life instead of them managing you! 。。。more

I think it’s best to break this book down into pros & cons。。。PROS: -I found the basic cleaning & daily routines helpful (shine your sink, dress to shoes, create zone cleaning, five minute hot spots, etc。。。) -It was easy to mold my existing routine around the FlyLady system, to create a hybrid that works well for our home。 -I had, unwittingly, already been doing many of the things this book teaches (swish & swipe, 27 Boogie, decluttering & keeping life minimal, etc。。。); making it quite easy to im I think it’s best to break this book down into pros & cons。。。PROS: -I found the basic cleaning & daily routines helpful (shine your sink, dress to shoes, create zone cleaning, five minute hot spots, etc。。。) -It was easy to mold my existing routine around the FlyLady system, to create a hybrid that works well for our home。 -I had, unwittingly, already been doing many of the things this book teaches (swish & swipe, 27 Boogie, decluttering & keeping life minimal, etc。。。); making it quite easy to implement other changes。 -As a Christian, I appreciated the perspective of Godliness。 -As a Mom, I appreciated the perspective of the ‘stay at home mom’。CONS: -The book seems fairly disorganized。 A lot of great ideas, but all jumbled around various chapters。 Ironic。 -The testimonials are, for myself, irrelevant。 And there are a LOT of them。 (I do NOT CARE one iota that some frumpy lady’s life was changed because she learned that keeping a nice home improved her sex life。。。) -The book is repetitive, & leaves little to no margin for improvising。 -The system is being hailed as ‘the one, the only’, while the truth of the matter is, it works for the author。 It’s what’s best for HER。 To say one routine fits all is, frankly, ignorant。 -As a mom, I am irritated by the thinking that ‘stay at home moms’ and ‘work from home moms’ are separate categories。 -The book could do with a solid update。 It has a very narrow worldview & perspective that the reader needs to muscle past just to get to the good points of cleaning & organization。 -The cutesy names & acronyms annoy me。 A personal dislike, but a con for me nonetheless。Overall good ideas with poor execution。 。。。more
