。。more

The Secret Seven is a story about seven children who form a secret society with badges and passwords。 Jack, one of the group members, misplaces his badge in a field opposite a spooky old house where they were creating a snowman。 As punishment for misbehaving during dinner, he is forbidden from going outside the house。 Jack determined to find the badge creeps out of the house once everyone is asleep, and that night he discovers something fishy is happening out there, maybe a mystery worth solving The Secret Seven is a story about seven children who form a secret society with badges and passwords。 Jack, one of the group members, misplaces his badge in a field opposite a spooky old house where they were creating a snowman。 As punishment for misbehaving during dinner, he is forbidden from going outside the house。 Jack determined to find the badge creeps out of the house once everyone is asleep, and that night he discovers something fishy is happening out there, maybe a mystery worth solving? Enid Blyton has enjoyably written the story, making you want to have a secret society and solve mysteries。 The plot and the characters are Mindblowing! It would have been better if she had briefed the characters and made the stories long。 I think it did not reach her usual standard。 It was not as good as Malory tower, Famous five, Five find outers and the dog etc。One quote that made me laugh was-‘Oh—that’s a mixture of scrumptious and delicious, too!’ said Barbarawith a squeal of laughter。 ‘Delumptious and scrumplicious—that just describeseverything nicely。’I liked this book but would like to recommend other books by Enid Blyton like Malory tower, Famous five, Five find outers and the dog as they are way more engaging and epic。 I would give this a 2-star rating。 I would still love to read the rest of her books(not in the same series)as I am a huge fan of the rest of her books。 。。。more

This is the first secret seven book I read , it was indeed splendid to read, the amount of excitement I felt is never countable! The suspence when Peter and Jack where caught in the caretakers house , when George and Pam had a brilliant idea to go to the post office to know what the owner's name and adress was , and it was cute when Janet made the beautiful white coat for Scamper, it was all a beautiful written book。 I can't wait to read the next book , who knows will it have as much thriller th This is the first secret seven book I read , it was indeed splendid to read, the amount of excitement I felt is never countable! I think it was great but it is a bit too childish for me I recommend for children 7-10。 But I have to admit it is a great mystery。

This book series is meant for a younger age group, but thrilling and exciting nonetheless。New plots, stunning escapes, and chilling mysteries keep you hanging on every word! And of course the descriptions of the elaborate meals that the seven have。 Let's not forget the official "seven" meetings that each of us, deep down, wanted to be a part of, like those eavesdropping intruders。 This book series is meant for a younger age group, but thrilling and exciting nonetheless。New plots, stunning escapes, and chilling mysteries keep you hanging on every word! A childhood favorite that I'll always love。 Enid Blyton's mysteries were the first I read in the mystery genre。 I used to love the simple yet engaging writing style, the adventures the characters had and of course the detective work they did! I had not read this series in my childhood, so I was very excited to read it now and trust me age has nothing to do with reading such books , I thoroughly enjoyed this book and looking forward to rest of the series

Decent introduction to detective novels for kids。 My 5 year old loved it, and is now into making everything a mystery。 I never read any of these as a kid and I'm not sure it would have held my attention。 From an adult perspective the mystery was very easy to solve and the characters weren't very fleshed out。 Only Janet and Peter were distinguishable from the rest, though it may be a bit much to expect any more in such a short novel。 I'm pretty sure I read a review here on Goodreads marking out t Decent introduction to detective novels for kids。 My 5 year old loved it, and is now into making everything a mystery。 I never read any of these as a kid and I'm not sure it would have held my attention。 From an adult perspective the mystery was very easy to solve and the characters weren't very fleshed out。 Only Janet and Peter were distinguishable from the rest, though it may be a bit much to expect any more in such a short novel。 I'm pretty sure I read a review here on Goodreads marking out the character of Jack as particularly abhorrent。 I must have missed something there。 Jack was no different to any of the other kids。 Finally, and just for giggles, it struck me as a shame that the children didn't wear pillow cases with eye holes cut out on their heads when they make their camouflage outfits。 I mean, you've already got the unfortunate acronym "SS" being used; why not give a nod to the KKK as well? 。。。more

DNF @54%I'm having a blast (re?) reading the Barney/R Mysteries so I thought I'd give this a try as well。 Alas, there are too many characters and not enough personality to go between them and without characters I'm invested in the mystery falls a bit flat。 Gently lying this down on the DNF pile。 DNF @54%I'm having a blast (re?) reading the Barney/R Mysteries so I thought I'd give this a try as well。 Alas, there are too many characters and not enough personality to go between them and without characters I'm invested in the mystery falls a bit flat。 Gently lying this down on the DNF pile。 。。。more

A big thank you to hubby, for spending an age up in the loft sifting through boxes to find my treasured childhood copy of ‘The Secret Seven’。 Re-reading it through adult eyes made me realise, that it is books and authors such as Enid Blyton, who fired my imagination, and left me with a lifelong love of books。 Re-reading this was unadulterated joy!

I'm a bit of an anglophile I suppose what with PG Wodehouse being my favorite author, studying English history, enjoying some britcoms, drinking tea and occasionally eating fish and chips with a friend。 You can't go too far into English type things without bumping into Enid Blyton。 She is the classic kids writer for the kingdom。She is more pleasant than brilliant but there is something to be said for a nice nostalgic read that takes you back to a simple world。 I can imagine graduating from this I'm a bit of an anglophile I suppose what with PG Wodehouse being my favorite author, studying English history, enjoying some britcoms, drinking tea and occasionally eating fish and chips with a friend。 You can't go too far into English type things without bumping into Enid Blyton。 She is the classic kids writer for the kingdom。She is more pleasant than brilliant but there is something to be said for a nice nostalgic read that takes you back to a simple world。 I can imagine graduating from this book to Wind in the Willows and Jeeves and Wooster。 。。。more

I decided to open up my Secret Seven boxset and finally read every one of these 15 books in a month。 These were books I used to love as a kid, my window into the world of reading。 Enid Blyton was my favorite author when I started reading in the later 90s。 Her books are my subtle connection to my own childhood。All of these books are really cute。 It's important to note that they were written for children and so they have a tinge of innocence and the language used in these books reflects that。 Thes I decided to open up my Secret Seven boxset and finally read every one of these 15 books in a month。 These were books I used to love as a kid, my window into the world of reading。 Enid Blyton was my favorite author when I started reading in the later 90s。 Her books are my subtle connection to my own childhood。All of these books are really cute。 It's important to note that they were written for children and so they have a tinge of innocence and the language used in these books reflects that。 These are great books for early teens but can be enjoyed by the adults as well。 。。。more
