Summary

A NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

A hilarious novel of social and political intrigues, set against the glittering backdrop of Florida's gold coast, from the author of Skinny Dip and Razor Girl

"If you could use some wild escapism right now, Hiaasen is your guy。" --The New York Times

WITH A NEW EPILOGUE

At the height of Palm Beach's charity ball season, Kiki Pew Fitzsimmons, a prominent member of geriatric high society, suddenly vanishes during a swank gala。 Kiki Pew was a founding member of the Potussies, a group of women dedicated to supporting the President, who spends half the year at the "Winter White House" just down the road。 Meanwhile, Angie Armstrong, wildlife wrangler extraordinaire, is called to the island to deal with a monster-sized Burmese python that has taken residency in a tree。 But the President is focused on the disappearance of Kiki Pew。 Never one to miss an opportunity to play to his base, he immediately declares her a victim of rampaging immigrant hordes。 This, it turns out, is far from the truth, which now lies in the middle of the road, where a bizarre discovery brings the First Lady's motorcade to a grinding halt。 Irreverent, ingenious, and uproariously entertaining, Squeeze Me perfectly captures the absurdity of our times。

Laugh-out-loud funny -- and so damned believable not so funny at times。As the book jacket says, Hiaasen is a great satirist, arguably the best living satirist of our times。

Larry

Carl is, as all fans know - always freaking hilarious and wildly crazy and fun。 This one was especially joyous for me because he absolutely skewers Fatholio Trump and his Eastern European Gardening Tool。 LOVED this book。

Benny Sperling

Great! Very funny, much needed laughs。 Lady Tarzan is the best!

First off, this is a hilarious book。 No if‘s, ands, or buts。 I was laughing out loud from start to finish and I must say that Hiaasen again has written an incredible satire。 No matter your political bent, this is written with zest。 If you’re looking for a quick beach read or just something to make you smile; this is the novel!

Rachel Kuipers

I really enjoyed reading this book! It drew me in and I read it in two days (aside from the first few pages)。

Bree

It took a minute to find my groove with this but boy oh boy, when it hit me, I couldn’t help but laugh。 #Hilarious

Typical Hiaasen: biting, timely, on target, and zany。 What else could you expect for a story set in Florida? Hiaasen strikes me as very consistent, and his reads are consistently enjoyable if perhaps a bit too familiar at times。 Still, I laughed out loud multiple times while reading。

Bonnie Burns

Garbage。 Couldn’t finish。

Jesse Figuera

Hiaasen never lets me down。

Cindy

Love his take on environmental issues in Florida in his writing。

Diana

Laugh-out-loud hilarious! Could not put it down。 And soooo timely。

Hiaasen has only gone and wrote himself a Trump book。 No, he did。 But hey, this is NOT a warts-and-all deconstruction of his tenure from inside the oval office。 No, it's a pure Floridian murder mystery。 And a true red flag for Trumpism。 It's satire Americana at it's finest。 Plus there are special cameo appearances from Donald and Melania Trump。 No, seriously。 And it's brilliant and hilarious, highlighting the former President's ludicrous time in office and the very essence of his pathetic and tr Hiaasen has only gone and wrote himself a Trump book。 No, he did。 But hey, this is NOT a warts-and-all deconstruction of his tenure from inside the oval office。 No, it's a pure Floridian murder mystery。 And a true red flag for Trumpism。 It's satire Americana at it's finest。 Plus there are special cameo appearances from Donald and Melania Trump。 No, seriously。 And it's brilliant and hilarious, highlighting the former President's ludicrous time in office and the very essence of his pathetic and tragic failings。 Not to mention his hyperbolic rhetoric。 It's Miss Marple meets Florida Man and snakes on a mutha fuckin plane。 Like all of his excellent books, the state of Florida is the biggest star and he perfectly highlights what a God-Awful place it is to live。 Plus, I mean。。。 the sort of people, of all stature and class, who choose to reside there are a cacophony of mental health issues。 Fans of Skink will not be disappointed too。 Our enduring hero (and former state governor) makes his presence felt, just when you think he won't。 It's a 'what if' love story involving the most forbidden and the most glorious and amazing ending that will have you punching the air。 I'm not joking, it's that good!SQUEEZE ME is a terrible title, but I (obviously) loved it all the same。 Five stars。 Read it。。。。 。。。more

What a fun book! I definitely would not have enjoyed this as much if Tr*mp were still president, as the book heavily alludes to him and the culture of his supporters in general。 (Florida, baby!) I hadn’t realized that this was the eighth in a sort-of-not-really series with a character in common。 I feel like without as much background to Skink, the motive and crime kind of fell flat after so much build up。 But I definitely enjoyed the ride。 Great character writing。

Tena

Laugh out loud funny, as always。

Skink just gets better as he gets older。 He’s one of my favorite fictional characters。 As much as I enjoyed the clever humor this book, I’m not sure that there will ever be a time when the 45th president will make anyone laugh。 The satire is tinged with deep sadness for me, especially after the murder of the author’s brother。 The media had an undeserved target on its back and he was a victim。 I hope fiction can help people remember that we must never again let our government fall into the hands Skink just gets better as he gets older。 He’s one of my favorite fictional characters。 As much as I enjoyed the clever humor this book, I’m not sure that there will ever be a time when the 45th president will make anyone laugh。 The satire is tinged with deep sadness for me, especially after the murder of the author’s brother。 The media had an undeserved target on its back and he was a victim。 I hope fiction can help people remember that we must never again let our government fall into the hands of someone like the mastodon again。 Keep it coming satirists! 。。。more

So much fatphobia in this book! Instead of reaching for one of the numerous potential reasons to dislike and ridicule the inspiration for Mastadon (his racism, greed, corruption, sexism, etc), Hiassen clubbed the reader over the head with with his disdain for fatness。 It was extremely gross, unnecessary, and lazy story telling。 This was a fast read that had some of Hiaasen’s signature hijinks and absurdity。 But it fell a little flat for me。 I’m fatigued after 4 years with 45 and this probably wa So much fatphobia in this book! Carl Hiaasen has written the book that we all need after surviving the Trump years。 I'll never look at meringue the same way, but that's the only negative side effect of this hilarious tale。 Add this book to your READ IMMEDIATELY list。 Carl Hiaasen has written the book that we all need after surviving the Trump years。 I'll never look at meringue the same way, but that's the only negative side effect of this hilarious tale。 Add this book to your READ IMMEDIATELY list。 。。。more

Hiaasen's political satire gives us lots juicy bits on the excessive lifestyle of the Trumps。 The tanning bed ending being his nemesis。Haha! While not side splitting funny, the pythons are the real stars of the book。 His ageing billionaire fans described when singing as microwaved MacCaws and hideous by The First Lady was also highly original so, all in all a lot of laughs to dip into。 The amateur criminals antics were also great when criss-crossing The First Lady's motorcade。 A shame the wilder Hiaasen's political satire gives us lots juicy bits on the excessive lifestyle of the Trumps。 The tanning bed ending being his nemesis。Haha! Although Skink's appearance in this book is very late in the story, I should have seen it coming。 I loved this book! It was hilarious, full of bigger than life characters -- many caricatures of people you know and those you don't know。 All kinds of unbelievable hijinks, laugh out loud moments and the dumbest bad guys you can imagine。 Sort of like a Stephanie Plum novel meets the swamp!
