Typical Hiaasen: biting， timely， on target， and zany。 What else could you expect for a story set in Florida？ Hiaasen strikes me as very consistent， and his reads are consistently enjoyable if perhaps a bit too familiar at times。 Still， I laughed out loud multiple times while reading。

What a fun book！ I definitely would not have enjoyed this as much if Tr*mp were still president， as the book heavily alludes to him and the culture of his supporters in general。 （Florida， baby！） I hadn’t realized that this was the eighth in a sort-of-not-really series with a character in common。 I feel like without as much background to Skink， the motive and crime kind of fell flat after so much build up。 But I definitely enjoyed the ride。 Great character writing。
