Summary

A sleepy tale full of wonderful yawning creatures from the iconic Dr。 Seuss, gets a brand new look! This book is the original (and the best) remedy for children who don't want to go to sleep。 Sleep thoughts are spreading Throughout the whole land The time for night-brushing of teeth is at hand! The original story designed specifically for putting small children to sleep, Dr。 Seuss's Sleep Book is full of wonderful yawning creatures who spread sleep thoughts at bedtime。 More fun than counting sheep and more effective than the sandman, this book is the perfect remedy for children who don't want to go to sleep。 As part of a major rebrand programme, HarperCollins is relaunching Dr。 Seuss's bestselling books, including such perennial favourites as The Cat in the Hat, Green Eggs and Ham and Fox in Socks。 In response to consumer demand, the bright new cover designs incorporate much needed guidance on reading levels, with the standard paperbacks divided into three reading strands - Blue Back Books for parents to share with young children, Green Back Books for budding readers to tackle on their own, and Yellow Back Books for older, more fluent readers to enjoy。 Dr。 Seuss's Sleep Book belongs to the Yellow Back Books range。 Author BiographyTheodor Seuss Geisel - better known to his millions of fans as Dr。 Seuss - was born the son of a park superintendent in Springfield, Massachusetts, in 1904。 After studying at Dartmouth College, New Hampshire, and later at Oxford University in England, he became a magazine humorist and cartoonist, and an advertising man。 He soon turned his many talents to writing children's books, and his first book - `And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street' - was published in 1937。 His greatest claim to fame was the one and only `The Cat in the Hat', published in 1957, the first of a successful range of early learning books known as Beginner Books。 - Dr。 Seuss's Sleep Book Picture Book By Dr Seuss (Paperback)

Classic silly rhymes of Seuss, a little too singsongy to really put little ones to sleep, although my toddler conked out halfway through。。。 But since he's been a little under the weather I don't know if that's a good comparison。 Either way, enjoyed the illustrations and silly story。 Classic silly rhymes of Seuss, a little too singsongy to really put little ones to sleep, although my toddler conked out halfway through。。。 But since he's been a little under the weather I don't know if that's a good comparison。 Either way, enjoyed the illustrations and silly story。 。。。more

I confess, I write very few reviews, but I happened to be searching for a favorite quote from the Sleep Book and stumbled across it on goodreads。 This is one of our favorites! The kids are out by the last line, and I'm ready for bed, too。 The line I was searching for was the one about the birds building the crazy nest, and that it's not your problem and not mine, and for some reason, the line always helps me to put away my worries for the night。 So, here I am, leaving a review for one of my favo I confess, I write very few reviews, but I happened to be searching for a favorite quote from the Sleep Book and stumbled across it on goodreads。 This is one of our favorites! Fun story to read a child at bed time。 It starts with how contagious a yawn is and the different things people do before bed and while their asleep in the usual silly Dr。 Seuss way lolIt encourages a child rhat its time for bed and join every character in the book and rest。 Pretty long for a child with short attention span but hey, they might just enjoy it 😁

A tale told in rhyme of how one very small bug started to yawn, and the yawn spread to make creatures far and wide get ready for bed。 This book is recommended to be read in bed just in case the reader starts to yawn, and gets sleepy, then they too will be prepared for a good night's sleep。 A tale told in rhyme of how one very small bug started to yawn, and the yawn spread to make creatures far and wide get ready for bed。 This book is recommended to be read in bed just in case the reader starts to yawn, and gets sleepy, then they too will be prepared for a good night's sleep。 。。。more

The rhyming in this book is near perfect 👌

Emily

Entertaining, but not good for bedtime。 Natural pace for reading is much to fast for enducing sleep。

Perhaps, since I grew up with Dr。 Seuss's books, over the decades they've started to lose their charm for me? I found Dr。 Seuss's Sleep Book too repetitive, and a bit lengthy。 Maybe the tedium is the point, if you're trying to coax a stubborn little one into sleep? One page did have an unusual charm, and felt totally relatable:A Jedd is in bed,And the bed of a JeddIs the softestOf beds in the world。It is said。He makes it from pom pomsHe grows on his head,And he's sleeping right nowOn the softest Perhaps, since I grew up with Dr。 Seuss's books, over the decades they've started to lose their charm for me? Great Book!I read this book to my little siblings at night time and they love to listen to it and see all the wonderful things。 Dr。 Seuss did such a wonderful job with this book。 In fact, we say in my family that his sleepy magic really does work。

This book is specifically written for kids and parents to read while they’re in getting ready for bed and when they need a little bit of help to drift off。 As a serial insomniac, I approve。 Sweet dreams。

Cuuuuuuute!

Amy "the book-bat"

The book starts out by saying that it should be read in bed。 I read it in bed and fell asleep half-way through! It is a cute book full of Seussian creatures that yawn at the beginning (triggering me to yawn) and then go to sleep。 This would be a perfect bedtime story for young children if the grown-ups can stay awake long enough to read it。

Time for sleepRather long for a sleep book but when you finish you know it’s time for sleep。Really enjoyed, Dr。 Seuss delivers。

Watch out when you read this one。 It will almost certainly make you yawn, if it doesn't actually put you to sleep。 It should probably come at the end of bedtime storytime。 Watch out when you read this one。 It will almost certainly make you yawn, if it doesn't actually put you to sleep。 It should probably come at the end of bedtime storytime。 。。。more

A longer bedtime read, so we broke this up over two nights。 Excellent rhythm, repetition and soothing rhyme for the evening wind-down。 Plus the inimitably cute pictures。
