I had listened to Yoga Nidra style meditations before, but I had no idea what the practice was really about until I read this book。 Tracee Stanley explains the practice in the most engaging and approachable way, and thanks to her, my reverence for sleep and rest has already grown in immeasurable ways。 The way she presents self-reflection questions, guided meditations, and tools for incorporating aspects of Yoga Nidra into regular daily life makes this practice seem not only possible but also vit I had listened to Yoga Nidra style meditations before, but I had no idea what the practice was really about until I read this book。 Tracee Stanley explains the practice in the most engaging and approachable way, and thanks to her, my reverence for sleep and rest has already grown in immeasurable ways。 The way she presents self-reflection questions, guided meditations, and tools for incorporating aspects of Yoga Nidra into regular daily life makes this practice seem not only possible but also vital。 The book includes so many resources, too! I'm really looking forward to what will unfold in my own brand new practice。 。。。more

Such a beautiful book! Tracee is a beautiful soul who teaches values, meaning, and empowerment。 She takes an anti oppressive and trauma-sensitive approach to yoga nidra, which is life changing。

This is a real treasure, this is a highly preferable book for those who would like to practice meditation in the world of Yoga Nidra。 Written in a very intelligible and easy to follow structure Tracee Stanley leads you from beginning to end into a place we all want to be。 A place of peace and contentment。 Highly recommended!

Tracee understands how to hold space for practitioners as a teacher, and understands what it is like to still *be* a practitioner, a student- always learning。 This book explores rest practices, how to do them, why to do them, and if approached with an open and willing heart will bring forward personal transformations。 🦋So grateful for Tracee's generous, thoughtful, and wise work。 Add in the softness and golden design of the book itself, and Tracee's recorded practices and this book is a full exp Tracee understands how to hold space for practitioners as a teacher, and understands what it is like to still *be* a practitioner, a student- always learning。 This book explores rest practices, how to do them, why to do them, and if approached with an open and willing heart will bring forward personal transformations。 🦋So grateful for Tracee's generous, thoughtful, and wise work。 Add in the softness and golden design of the book itself, and Tracee's recorded practices and this book is a full experience just waiting for you! 。。。more

There is so much here。 I think this is a reference book that you can return to again and again。 I would recommend a hard copy, as opposed to digital (which is what I have), so it can be accessed without the imposition of a screen。 The screen feels intrusive to me when trying to learn a practice of rest and relaxation。

I just LOVE this book so much。 I have many hours of practice ahead but this book a game changer I believe。 Stunning book 💚

this book is a an outpouring of love, and right on time to encourage the shift from pushing ourselves too hard resulting in exhaustion & over exertion, to allowing our mind body and soul to rest, and therefore awakening our power。 the methods & teachings she offers through this book are divinely guided & delivered with such grace。 even if you have little or no experience in yoga nidra, these practices are deeply effective & accessible。 highly recommend!!

Tracee Stanley did such a beautiful job with this book。 It is a great book for beginners to the practice of Yoga Nidra, a guided meditation on the art of transition, and is read by the author on Audible which is just beautiful。 My restorative/yantra/yoga nidra teacher, Chanti, co-teaches larger trainings with Tracee, so I have been following them both for quite some time with always a continued awe in the continued giving and gifting of their teachings。 The first section of the book gives a nice Tracee Stanley did such a beautiful job with this book。 It is a great book for beginners to the practice of Yoga Nidra, a guided meditation on the art of transition, and is read by the author on Audible which is just beautiful。 My restorative/yantra/yoga nidra teacher, Chanti, co-teaches larger trainings with Tracee, so I have been following them both for quite some time with always a continued awe in the continued giving and gifting of their teachings。 The first section of the book gives a nice overview of the history of Yoga Nidra, and the current schools and teachers of the practice。 The middle of the book is the philosophy and kosha, or layers of the practice and how it relates to the book experience of emotion, and the senses。。。my favorite part。 And the ending contains multiple guided practices that will allow the reader to start to understand more about the structure and purpose do the sequence (although nice to hear on Audible, I always do dislike guided practice within books as I am usually driving or dog walking and have to stop the audio or skip over it until I can get back to it, but。。。)。 After falling in love with the practice of Yoga Nidra in 2017 my life began to change in the most profound ways。 My mind started to realize just how fast it had been moving for the last entirety of my life up to that point, how tired I felt all the time, how busy and goal-oriented I was。 It has been a long four years of paring life down, of slowly slowing down, but this practice of guided meditation is now a thread of my life。 Stanley describes a crucial piece of information in the middle of this book that other books on Yoga Nidra have not expounded on that I found。 She talks about intergenerational trauma and depression and the ways that we may help to help it release with the sequential nature of teaching the body how to transition。 When I was teaching Yoga Nidra I used to describe it as a practice of transition。。。from the beginning of the day through the middle and into the end and again。。。as we are able to practice this technique in a safe and more controlled environment lying down we can begin to see the change affected by the mind when it is confronted with chaos。 If you want a really in-depth look at the practice with more science I would recommend Yoga Nidra by Kamini Desai, but this is a really great starter book for beginners and always a great review for more experienced practitioners。 。。。more

This book was NEEDED in the world。 Tracee has delivered a pure gem to all who seek the amazing experience of practicing this healing modality - whether they have heard of it before or not。I have studied, practiced, and led yoga nidra experiences for groups of people and I can tell you that there is so much desire in the world for this healing and rest, but so far the books I've come across on the subject have had scripts to follow or are focused on the science of rest。 In contrast, Tracee wrote This book was NEEDED in the world。 Tracee has delivered a pure gem to all who seek the amazing experience of practicing this healing modality - whether they have heard of it before or not。I have studied, practiced, and led yoga nidra experiences for groups of people and I can tell you that there is so much desire in the world for this healing and rest, but so far the books I've come across on the subject have had scripts to follow or are focused on the science of rest。 In contrast, Tracee wrote an inviting book that allows you to start to feel the ease and desire to embrace these practices in a really informative, respectful and lovely way。 The experience of reading her book transmits the essence of yoga nidra。Tracee wrote a book that gives you the experience of being in the presence of this practice。 It's informative, inspiring, and full of magic。 Just staring at the images can invoke so much。 I love yoga nidra。 On a basic level, when I practice I feel my nervous system calming down and my physical body releasing tension in a way that doesn't happen with traditional sleep。 And this is just the start of the benefits it provides。 It continues to heal the layers of the body, including the conscious and unconscious mind。I'm really looking forward to spending more time with the audio practices included with the book。 The glossary of terms, extensive practices, and her self-inquiry questions make this book a companion that will continue to guide and support me。 Thank you Tracee。 。。。more

I loved this book! It was extremely accessible as someone with no history of practicing Yoga Nidra。 Tracee includes tools for people of all body types and experiences。 She includes specific details on how a student with PTSD might benefit from a certain yoga practice space or “nest,” as well as students who might be pregnant or not able-bodied。 She also includes details and support for those practicing who might be incarcerated and unable to access extra pillows or a lot of space。 Her work is ta I loved this book! I won a copy of this one in a Goodreads giveaway。 This was my first attempt at exploring what yoga is in order to see if it was something I might be interested in。 Stanley does a great job with the descriptions - the terms are clearly defined and the information is outlined succinctly。 It was very easy to follow along and understand the presented concepts and ideas, which is exactly what you'd want to see in an introductory book。 That being said, after reading this book, it seems like this isn't I won a copy of this one in a Goodreads giveaway。 This was my first attempt at exploring what yoga is in order to see if it was something I might be interested in。 Stanley does a great job with the descriptions - the terms are clearly defined and the information is outlined succinctly。 It was very easy to follow along and understand the presented concepts and ideas, which is exactly what you'd want to see in an introductory book。 That being said, after reading this book, it seems like this isn't the type of yoga that I'm looking for。 However, the fact that I was able to go to a single resource and get sufficient information to make that determination speaks quite highly for the book。 I'm glad to have read it。 。。。more
