Summary

Earthing introduces the planet's powerful natural healing energy and how people anywhere can connect to it。 It describes how the physical disconnect with the Earth creates abnormal physiology and contributes to inflammation, pain, fatigue, stress, and poor sleep。 By reconnecting to the Earth, symptoms are relieved and even eliminated and recovery is accelerated。

I believe in Earthing, but I wish the information/narrative of this book was better organized to present these ideas。

This book is pretty cool! I found the Second Edition to be full of more information, as it should be, and therefore more interesting。 I did buy an earthing mat and for me。。。energy galore! Also, I haven’t really been sore when I normally would be from my workouts so I am seeing a difference in my life。 I will be interested to see more information come out on this as the years pass。

Fascinating book! Will definitely recommend to anyone interested in alternative health options。 To be perfectly honest, I did skip through a lot of the last half of the book (which contained a lot of testimonials); I'm more of a give-me-the-facts type of person, so I was able to glean the information outside of the stories。 Fascinating book! This is a great book about earthing/grounding。 Althogh it's a new topic for scientific research, this book reports much of the research that's already been done。 The science behind earthing that this book gives the reader is really fascinating, and adding to that, all the testimonies too, that after my opinion takes a bit too much bookspace。 All in all this is a book about one of the most important health topics you can include in your life。 This is a great book about earthing/grounding。 Althogh it's a new topic for scientific research, this book reports much of the research that's already been done。 The science behind earthing that this book gives the reader is really fascinating, and adding to that, all the testimonies too, that after my opinion takes a bit too much bookspace。 All in all this is a book about one of the most important health topics you can include in your life。 。。。more

Although I am persuaded that earthing/grounding the body is beneficial, this book was in desperate need of an editor。 The second half of the book is basically 100 pages of testimonials which felt more like reading product reviews on Amazon rather than substantive research。 The first half is much better and tells the story of how Clint Ober stumbled across the concept of grounding and began his investigative journey for answers。Grounding your body I highly recommend, this book, not so much。

Many of the bad reviews are ripping the book because it is a sales pitch。 Nonetheless, it is valuable science based information, so what is the problem? We give 20% of the GNP away every year on the Medical Industry and people don't seem to bat an eye。The authors seem to be coming from a good place。If you don't like it keep your shoes on and go about your business。 Many of the bad reviews are ripping the book because it is a sales pitch。 Nonetheless, it is valuable science based information, so what is the problem? call me a hippie cuz i know about earthing。 i found this book from researching the concept of grounding and what it does to the body。 the concept is recently new, but this book does a good job explaining from the authors perspective what grounding has done to his life and how it has changed the lives of ours。 i found it interesting that a lot of diseases and illness can be prevented by natural sources like diet and exercise and earthing might be one of them。

This is pseudoscience。 It's badly written, with a condescending tone。 The only redeeming feature is that the method it describes is not detrimental。 Even if it's nothing more than a placebo effect, it can't hurt to try it。 It might hurt to read this book, though。 This is pseudoscience。 It's badly written, with a condescending tone。 The only redeeming feature is that the method it describes is not detrimental。 Even if it's nothing more than a placebo effect, it can't hurt to try it。 It might hurt to read this book, though。 。。。more

I had already begun "earthing" (or "grounding") before I began the book, so it was preaching to the choir。 Still, it was interesting, and its only real flaw (if I can even call it that) is that there were too many anecdotal success stories。 You may find them all useful and inspiring。 Earthing is a low-tech practice。 At its most natural and basic, you will walk barefoot on the ground。 Et voila! you are earthing。 Devices for earthing indoors are inexpensive and convenient。 I started sleeping more I had already begun "earthing" (or "grounding") before I began the book, so it was preaching to the choir。 Still, it was interesting, and its only real flaw (if I can even call it that) is that there were too many anecdotal success stories。 You may find them all useful and inspiring。 Earthing is a low-tech practice。 At its most natural and basic, you will walk barefoot on the ground。 Et voila! you are earthing。 Devices for earthing indoors are inexpensive and convenient。 I started sleeping more soundly the first time I slept grounded。 Users claim substantial health gains from regular earthing practices that are easy to accomplish。 "Accomplish" is too grand a word。 You just plug in and benefit。 。。。more

I am in love with the concept: by reconnecting with the earth and the earth's energy, we help ourselves return to homeostasis。 The power of mother earth is in and of itself curative。 Just reading the first few chapters gave me enough information。 It does read pseudo-science-y and is somewhat repetitive。 The book and how it's written: not so much。 The concept: fabulous。 I am in love with the concept: by reconnecting with the earth and the earth's energy, we help ourselves return to homeostasis。 The power of mother earth is in and of itself curative。 Just reading the first few chapters gave me enough information。 It does read pseudo-science-y and is somewhat repetitive。 The book and how it's written: not so much。 The concept: fabulous。 。。。more

Certainly an interesting read and the concept of grounding or earthing makes perfect sense once you're introduced to the notion。 It's motivated me to spend more time in barefoot contact with the Earth and hopefully I'll benefit physically and psychologically。 Certainly an interesting read and the concept of grounding or earthing makes perfect sense once you're introduced to the notion。 It's motivated me to spend more time in barefoot contact with the Earth and hopefully I'll benefit physically and psychologically。 。。。more

This book was chock full of studies and information helpful to understanding the science behind and results possible with grounding/earthing。

Blind Habanero

Sound research and great intro, however the majority of the important information can be gained in the first chapter or so, with the rest of the book just highlighting case studies。 Not really a how to as I was hoping, more so a why you should。

I don't know that earthing is the most important health discovery ever; however, it is certainly noteworthy。 One thing has invalidated the health claims of "how it used to be" is that the average age of death has continued to increase over the years as we have gotten further and further away from "how it is used to be。" That said, the authors of this book have hit on the nail that a major change happened around 50-60 years ago。 That is, there was a big disconnection of bodies from the earth, at I don't know that earthing is the most important health discovery ever; however, it is certainly noteworthy。 One thing has invalidated the health claims of "how it used to be" is that the average age of death has continued to increase over the years as we have gotten further and further away from "how it is used to be。" That said, the authors of this book have hit on the nail that a major change happened around 50-60 years ago。 That is, there was a big disconnection of bodies from the earth, at least in advance economies。 At that time of yore, the manufacture of shoe soles changed: soles became made with the magic material of the chemical and oil industries。 These soles were cheaper to make from synthetic materials than from leather。 Through leather, one's feet were connected to the earth。 With synthetics, not so。 Now, we get to the interesting part。 The earth is negatively charged with electrons, which bodies would be also if connected to it。 Our bodies evolved connected to the earth; connection is our natural state。 Alright, what are some of the claims made in the book, and why do I even have a copy? You may be familiar with the scientific finding about inflammation lying behind the majority of modern diseases。 Electrons from the earth reduces this inflammation。 The book is full of proofs of this。 I got the book after I had ordered some conductive pads that I could connect to the earth。 One is under my computer as I write this and one is under the bottom sheet of my bed。 There is a definite change in my body from doing this。 Here are a few things that have happen after only a few weeks of earthing。 My skin on lower legs is renewing itself, a perpetual cough is going away, my balance has improved, my judgment of distance has improved, no longer do I bump into things, fewer accidents。 That's enough for me to keep on。 I think you should learn about this phenomenon if you haven't already。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Fails to explain exactly how earthing achieves anything like reducing inflammation or promoting sleep。 Which is a missed opportunity, as the psychological benefits of outdoor time are well known。 Loses some credibility quoting David Wolfe as an authority on health。Claims that shoes are one of the most dangerous inventions which is just absurd。Started out strong but argument deteriorated。 Stretching for conclusions; gives very technical language that doesn’t actually prove any causation。Overlooks Fails to explain exactly how earthing achieves anything like reducing inflammation or promoting sleep。 Which is a missed opportunity, as the psychological benefits of outdoor time are well known。 Loses some credibility quoting David Wolfe as an authority on health。Claims that shoes are one of the most dangerous inventions which is just absurd。Started out strong but argument deteriorated。 Stretching for conclusions; gives very technical language that doesn’t actually prove any causation。Overlooks the obvious fact of proven benefits of being outside in general。 “Most benefit for least amount of work” sums it up nicely。 Sometimes people want something to work so bad。 They completely ignore the power of the placebo effect, especially for things like chronic pain and anxiety。 What’s easier than hoping something works so much that you make it so?Examples of extreme sensitivity to electronics sounded far-fetched and seemed to me, evidence of some type of mental illness。Also, all of the testimonials sounded very scripted。 Implies that grounding can cure everything from MS to chronic pain and connective tissue diseases, atrial fibrillation, high blood pressure。 And it can even improve your golf game。Correlates earthing with lack of heart disease in early humans, despite all other differences between us, no mention of these variables。 I’m sure there are real and measurable benefits to earthing/grounding, but I don’t like anything that posits something so undetermined as a panacea for disease。 。。。more
