When Keira receives her breast cancer diagnosis she doesn’t want to have to tell her children or her husband Tom, and she doesn’t want to step back from work。 She doesn’t want to sit in a hospital and stare mortality in the face, nor be part of a group of fellow cancer sufferers。 Cancer is not her club。

But, as she is forced to accept everything must change and her health becomes something she can’t rely on, Keira finds herself embracing running。 Hot, sweaty running in the company of a group of brilliant, funny women each going through treatment。

One step at a time Keira is going to reclaim something。 Her family, her business, her life。

Someone that she works with at Wishwells (her shop) is taking advantage of her, she is so sure of this but doesn't know how to tackle it, or is it more than taking advantage, are they trying to oust her out of Wishwells! When she gets one of her oldest friends to investigate things at the shop for her, she is not happy with what she finds out。 On top of all this she finds out that one of the running club ladies Tamsin, is much more sick than she had been led to believe and this prompts Keira to do something about it in the form of running to raise money to send Tamsin to Mexico for treatment。 So "Time for Tamsin" is formed and more and more involvement is needed to raise the much needed funds and Keira feels that it is up to her to do as much as possible for her dear friend。 There is a lot of details about cancer treatment, so a lot of research must have gone into this book and when you reach the end and find out the author has gone through this herself, you can't help but feel great respect for her and other women going through this at the moment。 I found this book to be uplifting, humbling, sad and full of warmth that has you rooting for all the women going through this experience。 。。。more

I am so grateful to have received a review copy of this novel。 This story will live with me for the rest of my life! 。。。more

This is going to be a very moving, realistic book about the struggles of someone who had been diagnosed with breast cancer。 People hear it all the time, however, when it actually happens to you, you realise the severe impact it has upon you, your life, your family, your relationships with others and how you view life。 I like the way the author has tried to approach with facing cancer head-on, not to make it a defining feature of your life, and to focus on what is really important。 The author cen This is going to be a very moving, realistic book about the struggles of someone who had been diagnosed with breast cancer。 People hear it all the time, however, when it actually happens to you, you realise the severe impact it has upon you, your life, your family, your relationships with others and how you view life。 I like the way the author has tried to approach with facing cancer head-on, not to make it a defining feature of your life, and to focus on what is really important。 The author centres around the battle with cancer, as not just something physical, but it is also a mental battle。 The main character is reminded that cancer is not who she is and that she is so much more than her illness。 She does not have to identify as a cancer victim as she is simply just Keira。 It is going to be interesting how she manages to cope and look at the process of her healing。 。。。more

Wow! This has to be the best book I have read so far this year, I absolutely loved it。 I laughed, I cried and I became angry。 It opened my eyes to cancer - I loved the lead character and genuinely connected with her in the sense that I felt she was an older version of me。 Honestly, if you only read one book this year, pick this!!!

Wow - this packs an emotional punch! It made me laugh and cry, fearful yet inspired, entertained and educated, and everything in-between。 It had me before it even began with the 'Dear Reader' letter in which the author reveals the book is based on her own cancer journey。 Knowing that, at first I couldn't get my head around the characters in that Keira isn't an author but owns a shop and Tom is a regular husband and not part of one of my favourite author double acts。 But I soon forgot that and th Wow - this packs an emotional punch! Josie Lloyd's The Cancer Ladies' Running Club is undoubtedly an emotional read that has it's inspirational moments。 It's a subject that hits close to home, and I think the book would be arguably incomplete without the afterward from Lloyd herself on the subject。As you can expect from the title, the book follows a group of ladies who all have cancer and start a running club together。 We are with Keira and experience her highs and her lows of everyday life。 I'm very glad that this included more th Josie Lloyd's The Cancer Ladies' Running Club is undoubtedly an emotional read that has it's inspirational moments。 It's a subject that hits close to home, and I think the book would be arguably incomplete without the afterward from Lloyd herself on the subject。As you can expect from the title, the book follows a group of ladies who all have cancer and start a running club together。 We are with Keira and experience her highs and her lows of everyday life。 I'm very glad that this included more things than just her journey with cancer, also adding in the sub plot about her business for example hammered the point of the novel home。 Kiera's biggest frustration is being viewed differently, as a sick person。 The lack of the novel's focus on cancer directly means that the protagonists of the story are treated with respect, we learn about them and their lives as a whole, not just the one aspect of their lives which is often mistakenly assumed to be a defining feature of a person's identity。The novel was okay, but I probably wouldn't read it again。 It was charming, full of love, friendship and bravery, but it is a swift departure form my usual reading habits which I think meant that I was less able to enjoy it。Either way, you won't regret reading it。 If you are interested in reading the book, give it a go。 。。。more

Josie Lloyd did a very good job of giving, what I felt, was an honest portrayal of all the relationships, friendships a person has and how they are affected by Cancer。 Josie wrote with warmth and humour。The main character, Keira is a married mum of 3 when she discovers she has cancer。 I'll be honest I wasn't sure I wanted to read a book about cancer。 But this isn't a book about cancer, in fact to me it glosses over the icky parts of cancer and concentrates on telling the characters story。 Keira Josie Lloyd did a very good job of giving, what I felt, was an honest portrayal of all the relationships, friendships a person has and how they are affected by Cancer。 Josie wrote with warmth and humour。The main character, Keira is a married mum of 3 when she discovers she has cancer。 I'll be honest I wasn't sure I wanted to read a book about cancer。 But this isn't a book about cancer, in fact to me it glosses over the icky parts of cancer and concentrates on telling the characters story。 Keira meets Tamsin and together they form the Cancer Ladies Running Club。 They go through all the trials and tribulations of having cancer and dealing with loosing hair etc, with humour。I won't write any more as I don't feel I can without giving to much away。 All I will say is that I feel that this book is written really well, I thoroughly enjoyed it。 I wish I'd been told I'd need a box of tissues before reading this book, not only for the sad bits for laugh out loud, till your crying moments as well。 。。。more

Kiera is a brilliant character and you feel empathy throughout。 I found it difficult to read at times, not because of the writing but because it's so sadly a reality for peopleI loved the author's note at the end and it really finishes the book off quite brilliantly。 It leaves you with a message of hope and makes you realise that even in the darkest times, people can provide light by kindness。Thank you so much for the opportunity to read this book prior to its publication。  。。。more

This book is wonderfully written and has the most awesome story line。 I like the way it is written so that there is a deep connection between you and the character。 The writing style is modern, with a lot of descriptiveness, which lets you wonder in your mind。There was a time that did bore me a little while reading but overall it was great。 It really changed my view of life, and it really made me think about my personal life and the changes I can embed into my own life。 I think this is a perfect This book is wonderfully written and has the most awesome story line。 I like the way it is written so that there is a deep connection between you and the character。 The writing style is modern, with a lot of descriptiveness, which lets you wonder in your mind。There was a time that did bore me a little while reading but overall it was great。 It really changed my view of life, and it really made me think about my personal life and the changes I can embed into my own life。 I think this is a perfect book, not too heavy, especially when you are in the reading slump phase。 This novel will indeed bring you a new perspective on life。 I hope that many other people can find this book so that they can be as surprised as I was when i read the book。 I don't want to spoil anything, but the ending is absolutely great。 I sincerely recommend this book to everyone! You must have a read! This is a perfect realistic novel。 。。。more

Keira finds out the thing most people dread - she has cancer - the C Word ! The first thing you would think of doing is to tell your family and close friends for support and help, but not Keira。 She is married , has children and runs her own business but she doesn't want to tell them。 She doesn't want to be labelled。 She doesn't want to have every one looking at her or treating her differently。 She doesn't want to be that woman with cancer。 So quite out of the blue she decides to join a ladies Keira finds out the thing most people dread - she has cancer - the C Word ! I have read this in 24 hours! I couldn’t put it down。 This story has come from the heart and is full of emotion, honesty, uplifting and inspiring! It is such an easy book to ready that even if you aren’t a book worm you would enjoy it。 The characters are life like and you can imagine them as real people as you read。 Although it’s an easy read it’s not predictable so it’s really enjoyable。 The author still gets a bit of drama into the book so it keeps you gripped throughout。 The cover of the boo I have read this in 24 hours! I would definitely read another book by this author。 。。。more

Thank you to Readers First and the publisher for allowing me to read an advance copy of this book。 I really enjoyed it! A definite 5 star review from me, one to be recommended 。。。more

I won a copy of this on the Readers First website。What a wonderful, uplifting story about friendship and family。 Keira finds out she has breast cancer and the diagnosis understandably rocks her up to then perfect life。 She felt she was winning - a good career, great family, solid relationships and a feeling of being able to fix anything。 She desperately wants to carry on as if nothing had changed, but of course everything has changed。 Throw in some non-cancer related bombshells and you have a ro I won a copy of this on the Readers First website。What a wonderful, uplifting story about friendship and family。 Keira finds out she has breast cancer and the diagnosis understandably rocks her up to then perfect life。 She felt she was winning - a good career, great family, solid relationships and a feeling of being able to fix anything。 She desperately wants to carry on as if nothing had changed, but of course everything has changed。 Throw in some non-cancer related bombshells and you have a rollercoaster of a book。 I really felt like I was right there with her as she went through her treatments, adjusting to the new Keira and navigating the highs and lows that come her way, and that’s testament to how well written this story is。 Josie Lloyd drew from her own experiences with cancer and that personal connection shines through。 Every woman needs a group of friends like the Cancer Ladies’ Running Club, the strength they share around and the way they lift each other up is inspiring。 The book has its sadness, as you’d expect given the subject matter, but it’s primarily a celebration of connections and self-belief 。。。more
