I listened to the audiobook and, even though I didn't really connect to it and her ideas aren't groundbreaking (and too spiritual for my taste), I do love listening to Oprah's voice。 I listened to the audiobook and, even though I didn't really connect to it and her ideas aren't groundbreaking (and too spiritual for my taste), I do love listening to Oprah's voice。 。。。more

These sweet little gems were delightful! Some were reminders and others were refreshing points of view。 I enjoyed it immensely。

It doesn't come up with anything we don't know already, which is also mentioned at the beginning, but it has some very nice stories in it。 It is full of advices that one should remind themselves every now and then。 It doesn't come up with anything we don't know already, which is also mentioned at the beginning, but it has some very nice stories in it。 It is full of advices that one should remind themselves every now and then。 。。。more

I call this an indulgence read because I didn't exactly seek an answer, new knowledge, or a solution to my problems。 I didn't read this book to learn, but to enjoy it。 It was such a pleasure to sit back, relax, grab myself a cup of warm milk and read Oprah's life lessons and wisdom pouring over the pages。 I am not a fan of Oprah, nor do I find celebrity status translates into good writing, but Oprah is famous for a reason。 I found many paragraphs, despite being simple, so well written that I can I call this an indulgence read because I didn't exactly seek an answer, new knowledge, or a solution to my problems。 I didn't read this book to learn, but to enjoy it。 It was such a pleasure to sit back, relax, grab myself a cup of warm milk and read Oprah's life lessons and wisdom pouring over the pages。 I am not a fan of Oprah, nor do I find celebrity status translates into good writing, but Oprah is famous for a reason。 I found many paragraphs, despite being simple, so well written that I can envision them on a Hallmark's card。 3 biggest lessons that I take away from this book: 1。 Not only can you overcome hardship, but you can leverage it to become stronger, self-sufficient, and happiness-oriented2。 The path of progression is easier to walk if you let great stories and great people inspire you3。 Being grateful for what you have will change your outlook but also enable you to manifest better things in your lifeNumber 3 for me is the easiest yet most rewarding。 There is a lot to learn from this small, soulful book。 What I know for sure is I will reread this someday。 。。。more

I’m not the biggest fan of audiobooks but I must admit, it would have been a disservice to myself to learn these insightful revelations any other way。 This, I know for sure。 Oprah’s narration drove the message home in a stunning way: the power of intention is real, and life doesn’t lead you, you lead life。

So many nuggets of wisdom in here。

This was quite probably one of the most useless celebrity memoir。 So I think Oprah is an okay human, nothing personal, but you don't really learn much about her from this book, it's not inspiring or containing some amazing life lessons。 It's quite boring, repetitive, and it kinda lacks a structure - she just talks about whatever she wants to。 This was quite probably one of the most useless celebrity memoir。 So I think Oprah is an okay human, nothing personal, but you don't really learn much about her from this book, it's not inspiring or containing some amazing life lessons。 It's quite boring, repetitive, and it kinda lacks a structure - she just talks about whatever she wants to。 。。。more

I love Oprah's perspective of what she knows based on what she has lived。 She shares many stories from her life and what she has learned from them。 I listened to this book so it was in her own voice and I loved that。 I love Oprah's perspective of what she knows based on what she has lived。 She shares many stories from her life and what she has learned from them。 I listened to this book so it was in her own voice and I loved that。 。。。more

lessons learnt and possible spoilers:1) Joy- I try never to forget the words of isaiah : No weapon formed against you shall prosper。 2) Connection - When you make loving others the story of your life, there’s never a final chapter, because the legacy continues。 You lend your light to one persons, and he or she shines it on another and another and another。 The only thing that will have any lasting value is whether we’ve loved others and whether they’ve loved us。3) Gratitude- Here’s the gift of gr lessons learnt and possible spoilers:1) Joy- I try never to forget the words of isaiah : No weapon formed against you shall prosper。 2) Connection - When you make loving others the story of your life, there’s never a final chapter, because the legacy continues。 You lend your light to one persons, and he or she shines it on another and another and another。 The only thing that will have any lasting value is whether we’ve loved others and whether they’ve loved us。3) Gratitude- Here’s the gift of gratitude: In order to feel it, your ego has to take a backseat。 What shows up in its place is greater compassion and understanding。 Instead of being frustrated , you choose appreciation。 And the more grateful you become, the more you have to be grateful for。 Say thank you now, because you know the rainbow is coming。 mattie the messenger :” i sometimes get a feeling about things, and of course it’s only my opinion, i think it’s good for the world and good for you。 “Hence When i finally was ready for the next chapter, i moved forward with no regrets- only grace and gratitude。 And wherever heaven is, i know for sure mattie is there。In the best and worse of times, i know for sure, this life is a gift。 4) Possibility - The true measure of your courage is not whether you reach your goal- it’s whether you decide to get back on your feet no matter how many times you failed。5) Awe- the older i get , the less tolerance i have for pettiness and superficial pursuits。 there’s a wealth that has nothing to do with dollars, that comes from the perspective and wisdom of paying attention to your life。 And what i know for sure is that the joy of learning well is the greatest reward6) Power- When you know better, you do better。Gossip - whether in the form of a rumour that’s sweeping the nation or a gripe session between friends - reflects the insecurity of those who initiate it。 Often when we make negative statements about others behind their backs , it’s because we want to feel powerful。 If someone is willing to tear down one “friend”,why wouldn’t she be willing to disparage another? Gossip means we haven’t emboldened ourselves to talk directly to the people we take issue with, so we belittle them。 This i know for sure is what matters。 Whose life did you touch? who did you love, and who loved you back?i learned the golden rule: do unto others as you would have them do unto you。 You lead life; it doesn’t lead you。 See what comes into your life when you spend extra time with your children。 Let go of your anger with your boss or coworker and see what gets returned 。 Be loving to yourself and others and see that love reciprocated。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 This is full of beautiful moments in Oprah’s life that have helped to cultivate her identity。 However, I’m uncomfortable with the mix of language and worldview that makes up Oprah’s identity as there is clear clashing of ideals。 There’s also a note of selfishness in seeing one’s purpose as living to make oneself present in the moment。 That shouldn’t be our end goal。

Oprah touches on so much in this little book。 She provides chapters on Joy, Resilience, Connection, Gratitude, Possibility, Awe, and Clarity to name a few。In the chapter on resilience, during life challenges, Oprah uses the question, “what is this here to teach me?”In the chapter on possibility, Oprah wrote, “My biggest mistakes in life have all stemmed from giving my power to someone else。。。” In the same chapter, she also wrote: “The whole point of being alive is to become the person Oprah touches on so much in this little book。 She provides chapters on Joy, Resilience, Connection, Gratitude, Possibility, Awe, and Clarity to name a few。In the chapter on resilience, during life challenges, Oprah uses the question, “what is this here to teach me?”In the chapter on possibility, Oprah wrote, “My biggest mistakes in life have all stemmed from giving my power to someone else。。。” In the same chapter, she also wrote: “The whole point of being alive is to become the person you were intended to be, to grow out of and into yourself again and again。”This little book really resonated with me。 It’s one I revisit every few years。 I highly recommend this little gem。 。。。more

What is there not to love about Oprah? I honestly didn’t know that much about her life。 This book was great glimpse into her history。 I also love how she has such a positive outlook on life。 Even though, in spite of, maybe even because of, many challenges。 One thing about this book that I appreciate is, she brings up individuals who have helped her along the way or made an impact in her life while also sharing with us the wisdom they shared with her。 I loved that。 She is so well rounded and I th What is there not to love about Oprah? Personally, I didn’t take away much from this book。 She talks a lot about being grateful and positive while pulling stories from her time as a wealthy celebrity。 I would’ve found it more impactful if she wrote more about her experiences before the fame and wealth。

In this book, Oprah shares the lessons that she has learnt in life from all that she has been through and all that she has achieved。 These are the hard facts that she believes in and is sure would help anyone be happy and contended in life。 Hence, What I know for sure justifies as the title。 She majorly talks about generic life lessons but ensures they are all drawn from moments in her life。 Overall, a decent read。 You will like it more on audible as the best part about Oprah is her speech and d In this book, Oprah shares the lessons that she has learnt in life from all that she has been through and all that she has achieved。 These are the hard facts that she believes in and is sure would help anyone be happy and contended in life。 Hence, What I know for sure justifies as the title。 She majorly talks about generic life lessons but ensures they are all drawn from moments in her life。 Overall, a decent read。 You will like it more on audible as the best part about Oprah is her speech and delivery。 。。。more

Really enjoyed this, listening to the audiobook read by Oprah is a must I think, her energy and humour makes it! For such a famous woman I really knew nothing about Oprah before and in this she condensed down a lot of her life experiences and the lessons she's learned in a relatively short book。 I did find some of the name drops and her constantly going on about her house in Hawaii a bit repetitive but that's really the only negative thing I'd have to say, she deserves the life she's consciously Really enjoyed this, listening to the audiobook read by Oprah is a must I think, her energy and humour makes it!
