Coyote, a werewolf, goes through life hiding his true identity。 But when a handsome human pianist catches him in heat, forbidden passion explodes。

Coyote avoids getting too involved with humans in order to conceal the fact that he’s a werewolf。 But Marlene, a pianist at a bar he frequents, is interested in him and just won’t take no for an answer。 When Coyote suddenly goes into heat for the first time, Marlene catches him while he’s unable to maintain his human form and offers up a tempting invitation。 Coyote wants to resist Marlene, but can he?

[rating = A-]With a touch of Romeo and Juliet, this story is very cute。 When I saw that Marleen (a guy actually) plays the piano and Lili (or, Coyote) was secretly infatuated, I knew I had to read the story。 The fantasy aspect, werewolves and such, is a nice addition, allowing a wider plot other than just a typical romance to move the story forward。 The idea that Coyote is ashamed of his feelings is a nice touch, adding a realism to this LGBTQ story。 I think all good Yaoi have this sort of aspec [rating = A-]With a touch of Romeo and Juliet, this story is very cute。 When I saw that Marleen (a guy actually) plays the piano and Lili (or, Coyote) was secretly infatuated, I knew I had to read the story。 The fantasy aspect, werewolves and such, is a nice addition, allowing a wider plot other than just a typical romance to move the story forward。 The idea that Coyote is ashamed of his feelings is a nice touch, adding a realism to this LGBTQ story。 I think all good Yaoi have this sort of aspect; a trying at going against the heteronormative society。 I can't wait for Vol 2。 。。。more

Seriously gorgeous artwork, a fascinating alt-historical setting, and strong characters give this tropey star-crossed lovers/werewolves-under-attack story a prime spot on my manga shelf。 The characters have a moving, life-like visual presence on the page, and each scene is drawn with such precise attention to detail that the visual world building feels completely authentic。 But it's the visceral connection between the lovers, Coyote and Josh, that make this manga a treasure。 Good luck findin Seriously gorgeous artwork, a fascinating alt-historical setting, and strong characters give this tropey star-crossed lovers/werewolves-under-attack story a prime spot on my manga shelf。 The characters have a moving, life-like visual presence on the page, and each scene is drawn with such precise attention to detail that the visual world building feels completely authentic。 But it's the visceral connection between the lovers, Coyote and Josh, that make this manga a treasure。 Good luck finding all three volumes in print, though。 I was able to get the Volume 3 paperback from Amazon, and I'm hoping Barnes and Noble is telling the truth and that I’ll be receiving the print version of Volume 1 soon。 Volume 2 in print - and in English? Good luck。 No one seems to have that。 To add to the frustration, when I gave up and decided to download Volume 2, I had to buy it for Nook since there doesn't seem to be a Kindle version for Coyote #2 (luckily, I have the Nook app on my IPad; there is a Kindle version for Volume 1, though。 I'd like to know what the issue is as I’d rather have all volumes in one format and one place。 SuBLime, the publisher in English, isn't usually this difficult)。 I typically do not like digital mangas, but I went ahead and bought Volume 1 on Kindle while waiting for the physical copy to arrive in the mail。 I'm glad I did, as zooming in provided a better appreciation for the beautiful line work and textural effects。 An artist myself, I imagined the hand and arm movements the artist used and marveled at the way her contour communicates both volume and expressive intensity with economy and precision。 Rather than solid blacks, she uses a nearly solid, dense vertical hatching that had me itching to find it in a screentone sheet (which gives away my age, as screentone, which used to come on sheets of plastic that you rubbed into your line art, doesn't exist anymore since everything is digital)。 BTW, this is one steamy manga, too。 Another trope it uses is the old “male werewolf in heat so needs sex now” standby。 But it works, and the chemistry between Coyote and Josh is really explosive。 Zariya has mastered both eye placement and shape so that her characters really look at each other, rather than some indistinct spot near the person being looked at。 The depiction of reciprocal recognition, the mutual looking into one another that characterizes intimacy, is achingly conveyed in several panels。 Coyote rises above its tropes with an understated melodrama that allows us to engage with the characters’ feelings。 Together with the exquisitely drawn artwork, Zariya gives us the sensation that we’re meeting people in this manga for whom we should genuinely care。 I can't wait to read Volume 2。 。。。more

Amo el arte se Zariya y sus historias entre perversas y dulces, esta no es la excepción; un Romeo y Julieta interespecie entre un hombre lobo y un humano con muchas escenas hot :)

I don’t even know why I got annoyed with the Insta love part and the partial same face syndrome, but the story is cute enough for me to want to finish haha

The art style for this series is beautiful but I have mixed emotions about the overall story。 I’m not entirely sure if I’ll continue this series, since certain scenes seemed very much like rape with consent not being agreed upon; at least not verbally。But I will end up rereading this first volume later on this year; just to give myself some time to look at it through fresh eyes again then see if my opinion changes。

I was intrigued by distopian world with supernatural beings coexisting in the same world as humans, so I was really excited to read this manga。 Going into this manga series I was thinkig I'll get a paranormal story with some side BL storyline。。。but oh man。 What I got was graphic BL sex scenes with a side of a paranormal story。 I know it's just a first volume and it's too early to judge the plot itself, but there was really too little of a plot for my liking (at least in this volume)。 I think it I was intrigued by distopian world with supernatural beings coexisting in the same world as humans, so I was really excited to read this manga。 Going into this manga series I was thinkig I'll get a paranormal story with some side BL storyline。。。but oh man。 What I got was graphic BL sex scenes with a side of a paranormal story。 I know it's just a first volume and it's too early to judge the plot itself, but there was really too little of a plot for my liking (at least in this volume)。 I think it was more focused on extremely graphic sex scenes。。。 Anyways, I did like the drawing style - it's amazing。 And overall story about two sworn enemies falling in love - it intrigues me, so I might get a second volume a chance to see where the story goes。 。。。more

Let's start with I don't know how to feel about this manga。 It's got that taboo love where mortal enemies have fallen for each other, that's something I almost always enjoy。 Another reason I enjoy these type of BL mangas is for the smut。 This manga just dives right into it, from page one you see a beautiful risque colored photo and within a few pages you get full on action。 I think perhaps the lack of buildup made it a little strange I guess。 The story then goes on to try to build up the charact Let's start with I don't know how to feel about this manga。 It's got that taboo love where mortal enemies have fallen for each other, that's something I almost always enjoy。 Another reason I enjoy these type of BL mangas is for the smut。 This manga just dives right into it, from page one you see a beautiful risque colored photo and within a few pages you get full on action。 I think perhaps the lack of buildup made it a little strange I guess。 The story then goes on to try to build up the character stories, the overall actual story plot is just kind of straight-lined nothing super amazing nothing really super bad either。 I will probably go on to read the next volume just to see where the story leads。 。。。more

I forgot my love of manga and this one made me fall in love with this type of book/reading。 This story is a bit like the Romeo and Juliet trope, so you kind of have been warned。 I really like the main characters and their chemistry。 I think that the author did a great job in balancing both of their personalities。 I love the story so much that I cannot wait to read the second volume。

This was surprisingly enjoyable。 I expected it to be just ABO escapist crap but there’s actually an interesting story here and I find Josh to be an intriguing character。 The tension as to what will happen definitely keeps you reading。 The sex scenes are just OK imo, but I do like the art and will buy the next volume。

Despite the rape and the badly written intersex character, I'm curious to see what else Coyote has to offer。 The world-building is fascinating, and the forbidden romance is only going to bring more delicious tension to the table。 That, and Zariya's stunning art is always a win。 Despite the rape and the badly written intersex character, I'm curious to see what else Coyote has to offer。 The world-building is fascinating, and the forbidden romance is only going to bring more delicious tension to the table。 That, and Zariya's stunning art is always a win。 。。。more

This was an interesting first volume。 I'm not sure how I feel about the whole heat made me do it situation but it was different to see it reversed。 Still felt a little noncon in the beginning though。 As a first volume it did a good job of setting up the world and building to the possible conflict for the first arc。 Excited to start volume 2。 This was an interesting first volume。 I'm not sure how I feel about the whole heat made me do it situation but it was different to see it reversed。 Still felt a little noncon in the beginning though。 As a first volume it did a good job of setting up the world and building to the possible conflict for the first arc。 Excited to start volume 2。 。。。more

*2。5*Pretty predictable, a little weird and a little boring? The talk about the mob and the werewolf war wasn't all that interesting, but I liked the relationship enough。 It's a starcrossed lovers, werewolf x werewolf hunter relationship。 Coyote/Lili is cute, but he doesn't seem to have much of a personality so far。 All he is right now is the shy werewolf bottom that for some reason gets into heat during the full moon? 4/5What a stunning story and the art is absolutely gorgeous。 I had been holding off on another Yaoi manga for a little while because of the whole I am not a fan of the "rape culture = romantic relationship" situation。 However, I was highly recommended this by a friend and so I picked it up。 And boy I was not disappointed。 Zariya paints a beautiful dystopian world where there are humans and werewolves。 And apparently at one time humans knew they existed but they became a faded legend。 I absolutel 4/5What a stunning story and the art is absolutely gorgeous。 I had been holding off on another Yaoi manga for a little while because of the whole I am not a fan of the "rape culture = romantic relationship" situation。 However, I was highly recommended this by a friend and so I picked it up。 And boy I was not disappointed。 Zariya paints a beautiful dystopian world where there are humans and werewolves。 And apparently at one time humans knew they existed but they became a faded legend。 I absolutely love this idea of a forbidden romance between a werewolf and a human。 The legend intrigues me and the characters intrigued me even more。 I love how sincere Marleen is and how open and honest he is about his feelings。 He never once strays from his path of loving Coyote。。。or who he calls "Lili"。 I found their romance to be quite interesting because here you have Coyote (Lili) who wants nothing to do with the human world yet can't help himself due to going into heat every full moon。 And then you have Marleen who is so very romantic。。。。in his own beautiful way。 Oh, and he is a pianist。 I mean talk about perfect。There is still so much to learn about and I can't wait to read the next volume。 I hear there is going to be three volumes! This manga had a compact and pretty good premise: a love beyond gender and species (human!mafia/werewolf) in a gloomy town affiliated by mafia。 Definitely not your typical humanxwerewolf love story because it had more depth in it。 I like how most of the spicy scenes are shown as extras at the end of the manga and not in the main story ((less distraction from the main event LOL))。 The world builing was pretty good。 All the characters and the town had a mysterious dark vibes, which is good since i This manga had a compact and pretty good premise: a love beyond gender and species (human!mafia/werewolf) in a gloomy town affiliated by mafia。 Definitely not your typical humanxwerewolf love story because it had more depth in it。 I like how most of the spicy scenes are shown as extras at the end of the manga and not in the main story ((less distraction from the main event LOL))。 The world builing was pretty good。 All the characters and the town had a mysterious dark vibes, which is good since it was a supernatural/fantasy manga。 Another beautiful art and epic tale from Ranmaru Zariya。 cw/tw: blood, threesome, consent-what-consent。[ ★★★,5 / 5 ] 。。。more

Look, this is a giant pile of trash, but call me a dumpster diver because this is exactly the kind of trash I love。 I was expecting the whole thing to just be sex so when the plot kicked in I was surprised and a little cautious, but that ended up being the cherry on top。 This hits all the tropes I love and I'm actually pretty hyped to read the second volume。 Look, this is a giant pile of trash, but call me a dumpster diver because this is exactly the kind of trash I love。 I was expecting the whole thing to just be sex so when the plot kicked in I was surprised and a little cautious, but that ended up being the cherry on top。 This hits all the tropes I love and I'm actually pretty hyped to read the second volume。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I honestly have to say this book was very graphic and detailed。 The side plot of a family bent on killing werewolves because they were selling their blood and because of a long time feud could have been interesting。 The reason I gave it one star was because it is very clear that Marleen raped Coyote in the very beginning which was very uncomfortable to read。 It continues to become uncomfortable because Coyote seems so confused about his feelings with Marleen, but Marleen continues to be pushy。 H I honestly have to say this book was very graphic and detailed。 The side plot of a family bent on killing werewolves because they were selling their blood and because of a long time feud could have been interesting。 The reason I gave it one star was because it is very clear that Marleen raped Coyote in the very beginning which was very uncomfortable to read。 It continues to become uncomfortable because Coyote seems so confused about his feelings with Marleen, but Marleen continues to be pushy。 He doesn’t give coyote time to figure out how he’s feeling, but again Marleen is very forceful upon Coyote。 I wish stories wouldn’t normalize rape in any form。 I’m not so sure I’ll be picking up the second volume。 。。。more
