Summary

Kohei is a college student who, because of his hearing loss, tends to distance himself from others。 His attitude starts to change after he crosses paths with an ever-optimistic classmate named Taichi。 And over time, the two begin to develop feelings for each other。 As the story continues, the pair tries to balance their budding relationship alongside Taichi's inspiring new career and Kohei's continued studies at school。 But the harder they try to make things work, the more misunderstandings they seem to encounter。

oh how i beg for the next one to cure the heartache 😭😭😭

when the cover looks like this, I ought to have been prepared。the discussions in ihts are so so important。

Good middle volume in this sequence。 Kohei struggles with the idea of losing what's left of his hearing, and the idea of being a burden。 Taichi learns that helping in the short term is not always helping in the long term。 We start to understand Ryu and Chiba's relationship and maybe start to unpack Ryu's animosity toward the hearing world。Kind of glad I waited to read it until vol 3 was out though。 Good middle volume in this sequence。 Kohei struggles with the idea of losing what's left of his hearing, and the idea of being a burden。 Taichi learns that helping in the short term is not always helping in the long term。 We start to understand Ryu and Chiba's relationship and maybe start to unpack Ryu's animosity toward the hearing world。Kind of glad I waited to read it until vol 3 was out though。 。。。more

That felt like a cliffhanger ending。。。

Actual rating = 4。5 starsOh boy, that was a brutal place for this volume to end。 Even with that heart-wrenching cliffhanger, I really enjoyed this volume。 I love that we're getting to see both Kohei and Taichi grow into themselves, and that they're both working to explore and understand some of the deeper struggles for the deaf community in this volume。 The fact that Kohei does have some hearing has meant that his experience has been very different from those who are completely deaf, and I felt Actual rating = 4。5 starsOh boy, that was a brutal place for this volume to end。 Even with that heart-wrenching cliffhanger, I really enjoyed this volume。 I love that we're getting to see both Kohei and Taichi grow into themselves, and that they're both working to explore and understand some of the deeper struggles for the deaf community in this volume。 The fact that Kohei does have some hearing has meant that his experience has been very different from those who are completely deaf, and I felt like this this volume really pushed both Kohei and Taichi to look closer at those differences。。。and because Kohei's hearing is most likely going to worsen, to also confront the fact that he may be in that same boat sooner than later。 I do wish there was a bit more interaction between Taichi and Kohei in this volume since I love them together so much--I did still enjoy the volume as a whole, but I definitely wouldn't have minded some more romance。 :P I really want those boys to be happy。。。I also just love Taichi to bits。 He's so brash and reckless, but his heart is open and he's always doing his best。 I love Kohei, too, but mostly he just makes me want to give him a hug all the time。 I wish he wasn't so hard on himself。 I have to admit that before starting this series I'd heard that the cliffhanger for this volume was brutal。。。so I waited to start it until volume 3 wasn't too far off。 Very glad I did that。。。and thank goodness we don't have too long to wait now because I need to see what happens next!!!! 。。。more

Ryuu, Kouhei’s new friend, whose completely deaf, is always aggressive towards people who are not hearing-impaired because he sees the world as black or white, which is an absolute toxic trait。 Yet, he’s making Kouhei insecure about his relationship with Taichi, since they haven’t spent time together and he’s trying to, low key, break them apart。 “They belong to different worlds” he says and Kouhei is starting to believe him –he even rejects a proposal to have a surgery to be able to hear well a Ryuu, Kouhei’s new friend, whose completely deaf, is always aggressive towards people who are not hearing-impaired because he sees the world as black or white, which is an absolute toxic trait。 Yet, he’s making Kouhei insecure about his relationship with Taichi, since they haven’t spent time together and he’s trying to, low key, break them apart。 “They belong to different worlds” he says and Kouhei is starting to believe him –he even rejects a proposal to have a surgery to be able to hear well again。 But, turns out, Ryuu is Chiba-san’s younger brother。 Now, Chiba-san is actually Taichi’s superior, so he’s been couching him in their current projects。 And somehow, they all get involved in an awkward situation where nobody is right or wrong but simply, they have different perspectives of the world。Unfortunately, Kouhei’s insecurities take the best of him and Taichi feels confused about their relationship。 How can he get him to smile again? How can he erase those barriers he feels whenever he talks to other people? How can he show Kouhei that he really cares about him? In a few words: things are getting complicated due to a bit of miscommunication and third parties but I hope they can talk things through, eventually。 PREVIOUS REVIEWS:Volume 1 | Volume 2 | Volume 3 。。。more

Truly i really do love this series and these characters so much, but i feel as though the miscommunication between the pair has really gotten frustrating and honestly feels like it’s being used to stretch the book a bit。 I can understand kohei’s insecurity about his disability interfering with his relationship and both their lives, but i feel as though due to outside influences are pushing their own beliefs onto him and making his mental health worse and not just being honest with him like they Truly i really do love this series and these characters so much, but i feel as though the miscommunication between the pair has really gotten frustrating and honestly feels like it’s being used to stretch the book a bit。 I can understand kohei’s insecurity about his disability interfering with his relationship and both their lives, but i feel as though due to outside influences are pushing their own beliefs onto him and making his mental health worse and not just being honest with him like they claim to be。 My neighbor’s family has hearing issues as well as my best friends, some use hearing aids, some have some hearing like kohei, some are fully deaf。 I’ve seen the way it affects them and it’s definitely the reason i was interested in the series in the first place, but i feel as though some of the hardships in this story are purely due to kohei’s lack of wanting to communicate because he feels so down on himself。 I love these characters i truly do, but kohei really doesn’t seem to factor in all the help he gets from taichi as something he does out of care for kohei that he enjoys doing rather than something burdening and out of duty to their relationship i suppose? And taichi while having good intentions should explain them to kohei if the two would stay long enough to explain and not just say something gasp misunderstand and run away from their problems。。。 despite the frustration in this review I’m still looking forward to the next one! 。。。more

what i really like about this series is the confrontation of the black and white perception of disabilities in modern society。 the self-esteem issues of kohei were understandable and sad, and of course it results in miscommunication yada yada yada。。。 i still love him and taichi though。

HOW IS IT GOING TO END RIGHT THERE?!? I NEED THE NEXT VOLUME ASAP! *sighs but it’s not out for a couple of months 😭I caught myself just so invested and immersed in the story that I didn’t even realized I was reading anymore but in it (if that makes sense haha) that happens only in books that absorb me in! Loved them so much! I also really like Chiba and wanna see more of his story。 I also wanna see Maya and Yasu moreeee, I’m invested in them!

"Puedo oír el sol" es un manga hermoso que, aunque parezca de romance yaoi, en realidad Yuki Fumino utiliza el amor como uno de los varios elementos necesarios para contar la vida cotidiana de un grupo de jóvenes。 "Puedo oír el sol" es un manga hermoso que, aunque parezca de romance yaoi, en realidad Yuki Fumino utiliza el amor como uno de los varios elementos necesarios para contar la vida cotidiana de un grupo de jóvenes。 。。。more

Turns out I have read this volume as well。 My review is the same like previous volume。✨🌟 9 stars out of 10 ⭐✨The quality of the story is getting better and the story expanded, introducing us more to Deaf community。 There are some cliche/ common tropes but those didn't disturb my enjoyment of reading。 I'm not really sure about the representations though。 As someone outside Deaf and hearing difficulty community, I don't know whether the representations are good or not。 That aside, I'm still lookin Turns out I have read this volume as well。 My review is the same like previous volume。✨🌟 9 stars out of 10 ⭐✨The quality of the story is getting better and the story expanded, introducing us more to Deaf community。 There are some cliche/ common tropes but those didn't disturb my enjoyment of reading。 I'm not really sure about the representations though。 As someone outside Deaf and hearing difficulty community, I don't know whether the representations are good or not。 That aside, I'm still looking forward to read the next book! Keywords: manga, romance, slice of life, shounen ai/ LGBT (gay), hearind impairment, Deaf community 。。。more

I'm loving getting to know more about Ryu and Chiba, and Maya, too! (view spoiler)[ I always thought Maya loved Kohei but I'm starting to think that she's secretly in love with Taichi too?? I'm getting tired of the romantic conflict between Kohei and Taichi, everything could be solved if they just TALKED and LISTENED TO EACH OTHER。 I think this issue has been dragged enough, so I'm really hoping in the next volume things will start to come out and be solved。 (hide spoiler)]I'm really loving thi I'm loving getting to know more about Ryu and Chiba, and Maya, too! I’m seriously starting to get annoyed with this series lol。 Like what the heck is going on here!? This volume was honestly pointless。 NOTHING HAPPENED

I’m still thoroughly enjoying this series, can’t wait for the last one to come out。 Having a HoH protagonist is such a novelty for me。

Pointless drama due to lack of communication。 It's a frustrating and overused plot device。 One conversation is all they'd need to resolve their problems but instead, it drags。 I adored the first two volumes but ever since Limit 1, it's all gone downhill for me。 I hope they resolve their problems in the next volume because, otherwise, I refuse to read the rest。 Pointless drama due to lack of communication。 It's a frustrating and overused plot device。 One conversation is all they'd need to resolve their problems but instead, it drags。 I adored the first two volumes but ever since Limit 1, it's all gone downhill for me。 I hope they resolve their problems in the next volume because, otherwise, I refuse to read the rest。 。。。more
