Summary

Four sisters, a Manhattan brownstone, and a tumultuous year of loss and courage are at the heart of Danielle Steel's new novel about a remarkable family, a stunning tragedy--and what happens when four very different young women come together under one very lively roof。
Candy-it's the only name she needs--is blazing her way through Paris, New York, and Tokyo as fashion's latest international supermodel。 。 。 。
Her sister Tammy has a job producing the most successful hit show on TV, and a home she loves in L。A。's Hollywood Hills。 。 。 。 In New York, oldest sister Sabrina is an ambitious young lawyer, while Annie is an American artist in Florence, living for her art。 。 。 。 On one Fourth of July weekend, as they do every year, the four sisters come home to Connecticut for their family's annual gathering。 But before the holiday is over, tragedy strikes and their world is utterly changed。
Suddenly, four sisters who have been fervently pursuing success and their own lives--on opposite sides of the world--reunite to share one New York brownstone, to support each other and their father, and to pick up the pieces while one sister struggles to heal her shattered body and soul。 Thus begins an unscripted chapter of their lives, as a bustling house is soon filled with eccentric dogs, laughter, tears, friends, men 。 。 。 and the kind of honesty and unconditional love only sisters can provide。 But as the four women settle in, they are forced to confront the direction of their respective lives。 As the year passes and another July Fourth approaches, a season of grief and change gives way to new beginnings--as a family comes together to share its blessings and a future filled with surprises and, ultimately, hope。
With unerring insight and compassion, Danielle Steel tells a compelling story of four sisters who love and laugh, struggle and triumph 。 。 。 and are irrevocably woven into the fabric of each other's lives。 Brilliantly blending humor and heartbreak, she delivers a powerful message about the fragility--and the wonder--of life。

I love this one! It made me laugh, cry and scream at the same time。 I wonder how beautifully someone can write ❤️

Awful。 DNF。 Don't waste your time with this babbling small word, short sentence, overly repeated use of phrases called a book。 Awful。 DNF。 Don't waste your time with this babbling small word, short sentence, overly repeated use of phrases called a book。 。。。more

Plain and boringPoor characters and writing

It was pretty slow at the beginning, nothing really happened until the last 1/3 of the book and then it was crammed in there and rushed。

Too repetitious It was a good story, but I found myself getting annoyed by how PERFECT everyone in the family was。 Not just the four sisters, but the mom and dad too。 The characters did develop a bit more once the story got going, but even then I felt the author kept repeating herself on every single subject。 Almost as if she wasn’t giving the reader credit for remembering what she had just written in the previous paragraph。 Knowing how incredibly famous this author is, and it being my first boo Too repetitious It was a good story, but I found myself getting annoyed by how PERFECT everyone in the family was。 Not just the four sisters, but the mom and dad too。 The characters did develop a bit more once the story got going, but even then I felt the author kept repeating herself on every single subject。 Almost as if she wasn’t giving the reader credit for remembering what she had just written in the previous paragraph。 Knowing how incredibly famous this author is, and it being my first book of hers to read, I feel maybe it’s just me, but I’m not a huge fan。 。。。more

This is one of my favorites by her!!

I read this immediately after The Shell Seekers, and felt like I was reading a 3rd grade book with a rambling storyline。 Hard to get through, but I had invested time so I wanted to finish it。

Jael Katz

Really nice book。 The life of the sisters are amazing, the support they give each other。

Crystal

Great story line, but I was highly annoyed that much of the information was repeated several times。 I was beginning to feel like Ms。 Steel was trying to make a page minimum for a school paper。 Other than that, it was a touching, enjoyable novel。

Okay fair warning: this is a fluff, fast-read of a book; with a fairly dated story and writing style。 This is the first Danielle Steel book I’ve ever read- not sure how that fad passed me by, but I’m glad it did。 Happy to have read it right now for the experience of it - but have since discovered that it’s not my cuppa。 Her writing is repetitive, pedantic and lazy。 There’s too much of the obvious。 Her characters are too unnaturally beautiful (all goddesses really)。 And their characteristics are Okay fair warning: this is a fluff, fast-read of a book; with a fairly dated story and writing style。 This is the first Danielle Steel book I’ve ever read- not sure how that fad passed me by, but I’m glad it did。 Happy to have read it right now for the experience of it - but have since discovered that it’s not my cuppa。 Her writing is repetitive, pedantic and lazy。 There’s too much of the obvious。 Her characters are too unnaturally beautiful (all goddesses really)。 And their characteristics are way too black and white。 Also the casual, repeated and derogatory use of words like ‘slut’ or ‘drag queen’ made me blush in embarrassment for the author。 All that said, I am a big sucker for the premise of sisters- so actually finished the novel! Any story with sisters in it always tugs at my heartstrings。 I loved all the sisters here, I must say。 And I’m so jealous they got to live together for a bit。But, again - Danielle does no justice to the premise。 There is no depth to the narrative, points of conflict, or any of the story arcs in the story。 I felt like I was reading a detailed summary of the book。 The topline notes。 I didn’t hate the book, tbh。 But I didn’t like it too much either。 I actually wouldn’t recommend you read it。 Unless you are a Danielle Steel fan - then by all means, go forth!Ps: how irritating and downright useless is their Dad。 Ugh。 I have no idea why the girls even like him or why he even deserves a part in the story。 He showed up for nothing。 Ugh。 Double ugh。 。。。more

A typical Steele book but a very sad beginning。

That was really the only unlikable part。 Maybe if the explanation of his relationship with his new wife was a bit more explained instead of us assuming she's a gold digger considering they were married so quickly after Jane's death! Also, I need my husband to turn into a mixture of Brad and Chris, please and thanks! 😂 The first Danielle Steel book I've read- I remember my mom reading a lot of them when I was younger。 A very easy book to get through but I can't handle their father! Typically after reading a dark crime book I like to read something light like a rom com or chick lit to cleanse by mind。 Unfortunately this didn't do it for me。 There were so many annoying things in this book such as*it was ridiculously superficial even for chick lit*so much praise for 'thin' Candy (so many times we are told she is thin and stunning!! Mate。。。。。 We get it!!)*the author telling us the same thing over and over and over some times in the same sentence (no seriously WE GET IT!!!!) *e Typically after reading a dark crime book I like to read something light like a rom com or chick lit to cleanse by mind。 Unfortunately this didn't do it for me。 There were so many annoying things in this book such as*it was ridiculously superficial even for chick lit*so much praise for 'thin' Candy (so many times we are told she is thin and stunning!!

Finishing this book was brutal and the only reason I did it was because I don't like leaving books unfinished。 Yet, the more I read the more offensive it became。 From calling other women sl_ts just because they came up with conclusions based on nothing to calling people with disabilities retard_d and from looking down upon people who excel in their career but are unlucky in their personal life to calling women with what may be considered more manly features drag queens。 Not to mention the amount Finishing this book was brutal and the only reason I did it was because I don't like leaving books unfinished。 Yet, the more I read the more offensive it became。 From calling other women sl_ts just because they came up with conclusions based on nothing to calling people with disabilities retard_d and from looking down upon people who excel in their career but are unlucky in their personal life to calling women with what may be considered more manly features drag queens。 Not to mention the amount of repetitions in the book about how all the sisters wear thongs and walk around the house with thongs and only。。。 because I guess that's what other women do。。。 。 I wish I had something good to say but no! 。。。more

An interesting book about four very close knit sisters and how they come together to help each other following a family tragedy。

Christine Murdock

I enjoyed the feel good element of the story。 I liked how life continues on for people after a tragidy。 I could relate to all the characters even though they live a very privileged life。 I liked the last few chapters encouraging risk, mistakes and failures part of living。
