Summary

Abandoned by her mother at age seven, Alexandra Winslow takes solace in the mysteries she reads with her devoted father—and soon she is writing them herself, slowly graduating to dark, complex crime stories that reflect skill, imagination, and talent far beyond her years。 After her father’s untimely death, at fourteen Alex is taken in by the nuns of a local convent, where she finds twenty-six mothers to take the place of the one she lost, and the time and encouragement to pursue her gift。

Alex writes in every spare moment, gripped by the plots and themes and characters that fill her mind。 Midway through college, she has finished a novel—and manages to find a seasoned agent, then a publisher。 But as she climbs the ladder of publishing success, she resolutely adheres to her father’s admonition: Men read crime thrillers by men only—and so Alexandra Winslow publishes under the pseudonym Alexander Green, her true identity known only to those closest to her, creating a double life that isolates her。

Her secret life as the mysterious and brilliantly successful Alexander Green—and her own life as a talented young woman—expose her to the envious, the arrogant, and Hollywood players who have no idea who she really is。 Always, the right time to open up seems just out of reach, and would cost her dearly。 Once her double life and fame are established, the price of the truth is always too high。

Read this book so fast。 I found it inspiring and I just became so excited for main character。 Little twists throughout book。

This is a Women's Fiction with a little romance at the end。 The first part of this book is told in the point of view of Alexandra's father (I cannot remember his name。。。Sorry)。 But, Most of the book is told in the point of view of Alexandra。 I think her point of view starts when she is 14 years old。 I have to say I love the see her grow up through out this book。 This book is really just about Alexandra writing dark thrillers/mystery books from a young age。 I love the writing in this book, and I This is a Women's Fiction with a little romance at the end。 The first part of this book is told in the point of view of Alexandra's father (I cannot remember his name。。。Sorry)。 But, Most of the book is told in the point of view of Alexandra。 I think her point of view starts when she is 14 years old。 I have to say I love the see her grow up through out this book。 This book is really just about Alexandra writing dark thrillers/mystery books from a young age。 I love the writing in this book, and I loved all the characters。 Alexandra makes a family after she has no family left, and I loved that to。 There is so much I really love about this book。 I have to say books that follows writers are hit or miss for me, but this book was 100% a hit for me。 I have recently started reading Danielle Steel's book。 This is the four book I read of her books, and she has become one of my new favorite authors。 I did not want to put this book down。 I listen to the audiobook for this book, and the narrator was great。 (*) 。。。more

Her Life BlossomedI have been reading Danielle Steeles books for over 50 years & am never disappointed except when the end comes。 She has a way in her books to make you jump right into one of her novels once you finish the last one I'm never disappointed。 Try one of her works today; I assure you you'll thoroughly enjoy it。。 Her Life BlossomedI have been reading Danielle Steeles books for over 50 years & am never disappointed except when the end comes。 She has a way in her books to make you jump right into one of her novels once you finish the last one I'm never disappointed。 Try one of her works today; I assure you you'll thoroughly enjoy it。。 。。。more

I had forgotten what a truly terrible writer Danielle Steel actually is。 So many words。 So little substance。 So much coincidence。 So little reality。 Thank goodness I only waste my ears on this drivel while walking, exercising or cleaning。 I had to give it two starts for its diversionary value, but confess that I forget what it is I am listening to in the time between taking off the headphones and putting them back on。 How many times did Ms Steel tell us that the main character was using a pseudo I had forgotten what a truly terrible writer Danielle Steel actually is。 So many words。 So little substance。 So much coincidence。 So little reality。 Thank goodness I only waste my ears on this drivel while walking, exercising or cleaning。 I had to give it two starts for its diversionary value, but confess that I forget what it is I am listening to in the time between taking off the headphones and putting them back on。 How many times did Ms Steel tell us that the main character was using a pseudonym for her novels instead of her real name? I mean, did she really think we had forgotten that central fact from the last time she reminded us about it only three of four pages before?Good authors show us a character’s personality through their actions。 Danielle Steel tells us over and over and over again and reveals nothing new。 I will never understand readers’ fascination with this author。 。。。more

Evidently, Danielle Steel is a prolific, well-regarded and extraordinary writer; the language she uses is simple and the plots she weaves are exciting。 The Right Time is certainly a romance to read。 What I like most is the character development that Alex goes through。 The reader gets the impression of having lived with her since her childhood, all the way up to her 40s, witnessing her ups and downs, happy and sad days, as well as her arrival at "the right time," to love and be loved the same。 I Evidently, Danielle Steel is a prolific, well-regarded and extraordinary writer; the language she uses is simple and the plots she weaves are exciting。 The Right Time is certainly a romance to read。 What I like most is the character development that Alex goes through。 The reader gets the impression of having lived with her since her childhood, all the way up to her 40s, witnessing her ups and downs, happy and sad days, as well as her arrival at "the right time," to love and be loved the same。 I can't help but wonder if the story had been inspired by the author's life experience; the envy, the contempt and the sexism that female writers experience is an established truth after all。 All in all, The Right time is an excellent read if one wants a break from the adorned language of the Classics。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 This is the first book I read by Danielle Steele and my favorite 。 I read it when I was 14 and it really made sense to me as a young girl 。 I felt similar to the main character because we both love crime and mystery books and writing。 I think her connection with her dad is similar to mine too 。 Not everyone has that connection but the book shows that when you do , it’s important to keep。

Me gustó mucho la historia diferente y ganas de saber que va pasar con el secreto de la protagonista

It was a good steady read, but nothing exciting。

Boring, could not get interested in the main character。 Read 38% and gave up。

*DNF -22% The story itself it's not that bad, really。 But I just couldn't stand the writing style。 I'm not saying it's written badly, but the book it's written like a story on fast-forward。 It felt like I was reading someone's story in a magazine or newspaper, but with more details。 For that reason, I could not enjoy it。 *DNF -22% The story itself it's not that bad, really。 But I just couldn't stand the writing style。 I'm not saying it's written badly, but the book it's written like a story on fast-forward。 It felt like I was reading someone's story in a magazine or newspaper, but with more details。 For that reason, I could not enjoy it。 。。。more

This was fun, but it felt like the outline to a book。 There was a good deal of telling in here, which I guess is the point for someone who writes 3 or 4 books a year。 Still, for something meant to be read at a fast pace, it was thoroughly entertaining。

A tale of empowerment with a dash of romance。 I'll admit that contemporary novels aren't my usual go-to read。 But there was something about this book that pulled me in from the start。 We meet Alexandra Winslow as a young girl and we get a glimpse into a tumultuous life as she grows up。 Is this the book for you? That depends on if you like a casual read that takes the reader on a roller coaster of feels that may or may not pan out with a happy ending。 You see, the ending is dependent on how each A tale of empowerment with a dash of romance。 I'll admit that contemporary novels aren't my usual go-to read。 But there was something about this book that pulled me in from the start。 We meet Alexandra Winslow as a young girl and we get a glimpse into a tumultuous life as she grows up。 Is this the book for you? I’ve found DS to be a bit inconsistent。 Some of her books are great and others bomb。 I thought this was one of her better books。 The main character had quite a non-traditional upbringing after losing both parents prematurely。 She was surrounded by people who loved her and accomplished some great things, rarely compromising herself。 A good balance of romance and plot。

Since I have started reading Danielle Steel, I have been captivated by her。 I love being hooked on the first page to keep reading。 I love how she drags along with twists and turns。 I can never figure the endings out。 I love them。 Being drawn into the books is great。 I can put them down。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 The author seems trying to tell the readers something meaningful, something deep in life, but mostly the only word being read is just “something”。 Here an example。。。。 “The books were deeper and stronger, as though she had learned something while her gift was dormant。”What’s this “something” in particular? 。。。。 never know。 And ‘love’ seems all physical as the book put it。 Could be a good story。 Sorry I’m disappointed。

I enjoyed this book since it was a quick and easy read。 Don't confuse me though - it wasn't very well written。 My high school English teacher preached the importance of "show, don't tell" when writing stories。 I felt like I was told everything in this story rather than seeing it which resulted in a lack of immersion。 None of the characters were vibrant or well rounded。。。it seemed like something was missing from everyone, and they just fell flat in many cases。 When Alex was faced with difficult c I enjoyed this book since it was a quick and easy read。 Don't confuse me though - it wasn't very well written。 My high school English teacher preached the importance of "show, don't tell" when writing stories。 I felt like I was told everything in this story rather than seeing it which resulted in a lack of immersion。 None of the characters were vibrant or well rounded。。。it seemed like something was missing from everyone, and they just fell flat in many cases。 When Alex was faced with difficult choices, I was told what her thoughts were, but the confliction she had was not strong enough to make me feel one way or the other about it。 Frankly, I didn't care what she decided because I felt no investment from her。 There was a high potential for Alex's character to be something great and vivacious, but she was really one sided。 I didn't see in her what the other characters said they saw。 And the love of her life? Well, I'll have to take her word for it because, again, there was little investment and no showing me just how deep the love was。 Nearly all the male characters felt like the same, reused carbon copy。 Of course they are fans of Alexander Green and of course they believe women can't write crime thrillers。 Would it hurt to write a different character and not just reuse the same one? Overall, I was entertained even if I was let down by the poor writing。 。。。more

I enjoyed this more as it went on。 I felt the main character was quite flat in the beginning, but now think that was maybe intentional?

Great bookIt's a great book full of ups and down for Alex, but I always thought her identity was going to be out and people would give her, the woman writer, the recognition she deserved, I was disappointed it was kept a secret。 Great bookIt's a great book full of ups and down for Alex, but I always thought her identity was going to be out and people would give her, the woman writer, the recognition she deserved, I was disappointed it was kept a secret。 。。。more
