Summary

The New York Times bestselling book, a brilliant companion to the mega-selling classic Press Here, is now gently compressed into a toddler-friendly board book。

With the graphic intensity of Eric Carle, the whimsy of Leo Lionni, the humor of The Day the Crayons Quit, but a vision all his own, Hervé Tullet invites readers to MIX IT UP in a dazzling adventure of color and tones, filled with magic and wonder。 This New York Times bestselling book from the creator of Press Here is now available in an ever-so-toddler-friendly board book edition。

Follow the artist's simple instructions, and suddenly colors appear 。 。 。 mix 。 。 。 splatter 。 。 。 and vanish in a vivid world powered only by the reader's imagination。 The result is not only enchantment and giggles, but a real and deeper understanding of colors brought by a true master of his craft。 Just as in Press Here, Hervé Tullet sets readers on an extraordinary journey of color, motion, and interactivity without ever relying on the bells and whistles of technology, but rather by working within the confines of the flat surface of an unassuming printed page。 Hervé once again displays his unique genius and vision, creating a work that is a glorious and richly satisfying companion to Press HereMix It Up! is the perfect gift book for parents and their little ones to cherish and read again and again, as well as an invaluable teaching tool for pre-K classrooms。

• AWARD-WINNING BOOK: Mix It Up! was a Junior Library Guild Selection, a Buzzfeed Best Book of the Year, a PBS Parents Best Picture Book, an ACL Distinguished Book, and selected as a Best Book of the Year by Chicago Public Library。
• AN INNOVATIVE, INTERACTIVE WAY TO TEACH KIDS ABOUT COLOR: Each delightful page turn mixes colors and teaches kids basic color theory。
• AN EDUCATIONAL GIFT: The gorgeous graphic visuals make this book an irresistible choice for gift-giving, while the educational concept is an appealing bonus。

This book is a great example that you can bring literature into all aspects of your classroom。 This is a great book about art and how Art doesn’t always go the way you needed to or wanted to。 It also helps teach children a very basic concept of color theory, this book is also written and illustrated in a way that makes it very interactive

Encourages kids to "mix" paint blobs together to show color theory in an interactive, turn the page to see the result way。 Encourages kids to "mix" paint blobs together to show color theory in an interactive, turn the page to see the result way。 。。。more

I felt it was not quite as good as Press Here, but it was excellent。

Excellent book about mixing colors together to make new ones!! Great for Light and Dark unit。

Tullet's book is inventive and interactive, telling the reader how to create secondary colors by mixing one, or more, primary colors together。 As the reader begins, they are greeted by a dab of paint who is later accompanied by an assortment of other colors。 From page to page, the reader is introduced to which colors mix to form others。 Directions are also given to follow, and, as the reader performs them, the following pages echo the combinations made on the previous pages。 Personally, I enjoye Tullet's book is inventive and interactive, telling the reader how to create secondary colors by mixing one, or more, primary colors together。 As the reader begins, they are greeted by a dab of paint who is later accompanied by an assortment of other colors。 From page to page, the reader is introduced to which colors mix to form others。 Directions are also given to follow, and, as the reader performs them, the following pages echo the combinations made on the previous pages。 Personally, I enjoyed the book because I am a creative individual, but, even though introducing young children to the color spectrum with paints could be messy, I would rather a hands-on approach to what this book is trying to convey。 Educators could use Tullet's "Mix It Up!" as a possible introduction to color recognition, with an additional activity to further have children "mix up" the colors, themselves。 。。。more

Genre: InformationalGrade: K-1I thought this was a fun and interactive way to begin to learn about color theory。 The illustrations were also very fun and realistic。 This could even be used in larger groups with kids using their imagination to mix colors。 After reading, I felt like painting!!

Jessie

Fun way to think about mixing paint colors, with a variety of forms of interaction。

Lizzytish

A fantastic and magical introduction to colors and in making new colors。 My almost 4 yo grand had a blast with the interactive parts。 We were then led to explore with crayons on making new colors。

“Mix it Up!” is an interactive picture book by Hervé TulletI found this book through online researchThis book was created for 3 to 5 year oldsIt’s an interactive book because the writing asks the reader to interact with the bookThe book uses a mass variety of colors that look like paint strokesThis would be good to give a young student or child for solo reading time

Fun interactive books。 Kids from 1-7 enjoy it。

Miss Sarah

An interactive preschool and up picture book about colors and what they can design。 Fun。

Elanur-Dilara Deneri

A fun book about colour mixing

Sourimak

Un joyeux livre qui invite à patouiller au propre avec les couleurs, les mélanger façon livre-jeu, les faire apparaître ou disparaître comme par magie。 Drôle et instructif !

Tavia

Brilliant for introducing the primary colours and mixing them together。 Would be brilliant for an art lesson!

Pam

Forget this book and just go buy your kid some paper and finger paints! Sure the book describes how to mix colors and create spots, splashes, and drips but really the kids need to do this for themselves with paint。 I just couldn’t help but imagine that some neatnik parents are using this book to teach art rather than letting the kids get messy and have fun!

Olive

Great!!

This is a fun call to action book for the youngest readers, and artists。 Herve Tullet is the author/ illustrator of Press Here and he shines with his use of colors and action。

Pat

Read this delightful, colorful book to my grandson Thomas。 We both thoroughly enjoyed it。

I love this book and how it teaches students about the color wheel in a fun and interactive way。 The students are supposed to blow, shake, and press buttons on the book which changes the colors, sizes of the circles, and many other things。 Accelerated Reader: 0。9 (estimated) Guided Reading Level: A6 Traits: Presentation I would use this book to teach students about the color wheel and how to create different colors and size differences of shapes。
