Danielle Steel is still going strong。 Her most recent books have just blown me away。 She seemed to be failing and I had almost given up on her as an author, but she seems to have regenerated and come back strong。 I absolutely loved this book and am currently rereading it again! Thank you Danielle。 Love your books!

I always enjoy the escapism that a Danielle Steel book provides。 Especially during these COVID times, it’s great to escape into the world of jet setters and the rich and famous。 This story follows a successful art dealer, a London doctor, a French politician, and an American couple celebrating divorces from their former partners。 These 5 guests and the Hotels new manager Olivier Bateau and his new assistant Yvonne Philippe after an eventful first night after the grand reopening of the Hotel Loui I always enjoy the escapism that a Danielle Steel book provides。 Especially during these COVID times, it’s great to escape into the world of jet setters and the rich and famous。 This story follows a successful art dealer, a London doctor, a French politician, and an American couple celebrating divorces from their former partners。 These 5 guests and the Hotels new manager Olivier Bateau and his new assistant Yvonne Philippe after an eventful first night after the grand reopening of the Hotel Louis XVI。 I haven’t read a Danielle Steele novel in many years, but I need to read more of them。 I love the peek into the rich and famous and their lives that her novels provide。 She is a gifted storyteller and can transport the reader into the lives of these amazing characters。 I don’t usually like books about the elite or wealthy characters, but Danielle does such a good job of making them relatable and human, that I don’t mind her books。 This book took some time to get into, the author takes her time setting up the scenes and the characters before the action gets started。 But, once it starts this is a fast read。 The writing is very good, and the book flows nicely。 I recommend this book to anyone wanting an escape into a world most of us know nothing about。 I received a complimentary copy of this book。 Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own。 。。。more

This book is an absolute 10!!!! I am an avid reader of Danielle Steel's books, but this one had my attention immediately。 Most books take a few few chapters to really get into, but not this one。 There were so many twist and turns。 The perfect couple meets by pure coincidence due to a tragic event。 They are then handed many obstacles to overcome。 There is love, murder, deception, and betrayal that is out if everyone's control。 You do not know until the end if they are going to be together or not。 This book is an absolute 10!!!! When the Hotel Louis XVI in Paris opens back up after renovations, everyone, old and new, are uneasy about how things are going to go。 Not only has the hotel undergone renovations, but they also lost their long time manager of the hotel。 Olivier Bateau, the new manager and Yvonne Philippe, the new assistant manager, could never have known what was in store for them。 Are they up for the challenge that they are about to face with the opening of the hotel? This book takes place in Paris, London and New York。 There are two main characters, Alaistair Whyte-Jones, an Englishman and Gabrielle Gates, an American art consultant。 Gabrielle has just gone through a divorce that was public and made her feel unwanted at first but then she realized what was going on with her ex-husband and got over it real quick。 When Gabrielle goes to Paris, she wants to stay in the same hotel that she usually did with her ex-husband because of the hotel, not because it was a place that brought back his memories。 Before checking into the hotel, none of the characters know each other, but they soon meet and form bonds that are unlike any other。 I love how Danielle Steel takes the characters and makes you feel woven into their everyday lives。 She has always had a knack for doing this and leaving you longing for more from then when the story ends。 There is no other writer for me that can do this。 The way that Gabrielle and Alaistair connect through the story is so sweet。 They are really both responsible for saving each others life through all of the complications that come their way。 I don't want to give away too much because I know you will enjoy reading this book as much as I did。 I voluntarily read and reviewed this book and all opinions are my own。 Thanks to Netgalley, the author and the publisher for an advanced copy of this book。 。。。more

I have read many books by this prolific author with mixed reactions。 This book falls in the “mildly entertaining” category。 It follows what has become a formula for her books: a strong female protagonist who is either divorced or widowed with young adult children。 Said protagonist is always beautiful, thin, and wealthy and possesses a career that demands much of her attention。 Enter a handsome, accomplished man who pursues her while she struggles with her desire for independence and her vulnerab I have read many books by this prolific author with mixed reactions。 This book falls in the “mildly entertaining” category。 It follows what has become a formula for her books: a strong female protagonist who is either divorced or widowed with young adult children。 Said protagonist is always beautiful, thin, and wealthy and possesses a career that demands much of her attention。 Enter a handsome, accomplished man who pursues her while she struggles with her desire for independence and her vulnerability to love again。The setting for this novel is a small, luxury hotel in Paris。 The Louis XVI has just undergone a 4 year renovation and is under new management。 The opening night presents a myriad of circumstances that bring the lives of several guests together in unusual, dramatic ways: a life-threatening heart attack, a mysterious death, a faulty telephone system and failed security cameras。 The story focuses primarily on Gabrielle Gates, a New York art consultant, who is putting the pieces of her live back together after her husband of 20 plus years leaves her for a young, trophy wife。 Her first night in Paris she encounters Alaistair Whyte-Jones, a British internist, who performs CPR on a stricken hotel guest and saves his life。 The majority of the book focuses on the “complications” related to their developing relationship。 A secondary theme involves Patrick Martin, a highly placed French bureaucrat with aspirations to become President。 Leading a double life full of deceit and treachery, his whole life implodes following his stay at the hotel and “complications” ensue not only for him, but also his family。 Lastly, there is a minor thread relating to the man who sustains the heart attack and his bride-to-be。The biggest challenge with this book is the rather haphazard way the stories intertwine。 I found the premise of the intersecting lives of strangers through fate, interesting, but the writing style felt clumsy and at times disjointed。 As usual with one of Steel’s novels, it was a quick read that held my interest and carried a message about life and love。 This was not her best offering, but it definitely provided an enjoyable escape。My thanks to the author, Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine, and NetGalley for the privilege of reviewing a digital ARC in exchange for an independent, honest review。 。。。more
