Summary

For fans of Anne Tyler, Richard Russo, Barbara Kingsolver, and Emma Straub, One Two Three is Laurie Frankel's specialty: a timely, topical novel about love and family that will make you laugh and cry。。。and laugh again。

How do you let go of the past when the past won't let go of you?

Everyone knows everyone in the tiny town of Bourne。 But the Mitchell sisters are especially beloved, and not just because they're teenage triplets。 Mirabel is the smartest person anyone has ever met, and no one is fooled by her wheelchair or her Voice app into thinking otherwise。 Monday is the town's purveyor of books now that the library's closed--tell her the book you think you want, and she'll pull the one you actually do from the microwave or her underwear drawer。 Mab's job is hardest of all: get good grades, get into college, get out of Bourne。

For a few weeks seventeen years ago, Bourne was national news when its water turned green and was declared unfit for use, but it was too late for its residents。 And just when it seems life might go on the same forever, the first moving truck anyone's seen in years pulls up。 Then a new student enrolls at Bourne Memorial High。 He's smart and handsome and exciting--and the Mitchell family's sworn enemy。 And soon, in a town where nothing ever changes, suddenly everything does。

This is a story of a set of triplets who work together to make things happen, even when faced with what many would consider disabilities。 This is also a story about a town that is tired。。。tired of being manipulated and abused。 The triplets, One, Two, and Three, take the fate of the town into their own hands and do what they can to save the town。 Enjoyed this book a lot!

One Two Three deserves more stars than goodreads allows but I guess five will have to do。 I don’t want to spoil any part of this so I'll just say that what amazed me the most was how it took several different titles from my personal five star shelf - Sitting Pretty, Cuttle, Toms River - and brought them together in one incredible story。 I’ll add that the main characters were each a unique delight, the plot was never predictable, and the ending - well, that you’ll have to find out for yourself。 M One Two Three deserves more stars than goodreads allows but I guess five will have to do。 I don’t want to spoil any part of this so I'll just say that what amazed me the most was how it took several different titles from my personal five star shelf - Sitting Pretty, Cuttle, Toms River - and brought them together in one incredible story。 I’ll add that the main characters were each a unique delight, the plot was never predictable, and the ending - well, that you’ll have to find out for yourself。 My thanks to the publisher and LibraryThing Early Reviewers for the ARC this review was based on。 。。。more

One Two Three is an overly long (although it's only 416 pages) novel of a town, or rather a local townswoman trying to get justice from a chemical company that has ravaged the people in her town。 The town has a lot of wheelchair ramps because so many people in the small town are in wheelchairs from various ailments, malformities and birth defects。 A lot of people have died from cancer and where the water collects things no longer grow。Nora's family has been hit really hard。 Her husband died of c One Two Three is an overly long (although it's only 416 pages) novel of a town, or rather a local townswoman trying to get justice from a chemical company that has ravaged the people in her town。 The town has a lot of wheelchair ramps because so many people in the small town are in wheelchairs from various ailments, malformities and birth defects。 A lot of people have died from cancer and where the water collects things no longer grow。Nora's family has been hit really hard。 Her husband died of cancer while her daughters, triplets, were young。 The three girls, Mab, Monday and Mirabelle are as different as night and day。 Mab is a "normal" teenage girl。 Monday is on the autism spectrum but is very high functioning。 Mirabelle is in a wheelchair and can't speak without a computer speaking aid。 The title One Two Three describes the girls。 Mirabelle uses this abbreviation to name herself and her sisters and each chapter in the entire book is titled either One, Two or Three depending on which sister is narrating the chapter。While I thought the book was good and well written it seemed to drag on and go over the same emotions and facts about the chemical plant again and again and again。 Truthfully, if it wouldn't have been for the absolutely fantastic narration from the three girls I might have given up on it。 The narrator who voiced Mab did so with much angst, especially toward the end as she was falling in love with the son of the owner of the chemical plant。 Monday's narration was spot on with how she was voiced and I laughed a little at how she sees the world。 Mirabelle's voice was as any girl would be when she was thinking in her head, but when she was speaking it came out mechanical and computer like。 These 3 voices added so much to the book。 I highly recommend anyone who wants to read this to do the Audible version。 You will not be disappointed! 。。。more

Loved Laurie Frankel's other book "This is how it always is" but was disappointed in this one。The story takes place in Bourne, a small town that was promised many things by a chemical company coming to their town。 New jobs and prosperity did not occur but poisoning and ruined lives did。 The story is narrated by triplets, Mab, the so-called normal one, Mirabel who is confined to a wheelchair and can talk with the use of her voice machine and Monday who is autistic。 Their father has died of cancer Loved Laurie Frankel's other book "This is how it always is" but was disappointed in this one。The story takes place in Bourne, a small town that was promised many things by a chemical company coming to their town。 New jobs and prosperity did not occur but poisoning and ruined lives did。 The story is narrated by triplets, Mab, the so-called normal one, Mirabel who is confined to a wheelchair and can talk with the use of her voice machine and Monday who is autistic。 Their father has died of cancer from the chemical plant and obviously the girls have been affected so their mother has made it her purpose in life to get Belsum Chemical plant to acknowledge their part in poisoning the town which they are never going to do。 I found parts of the book very tedious and the three girls (also called one, two and three) hard to keep track of so only three stars from me。 。。。more

I love a laugh out loud and cry in the same paragraph book。 Reese always recommends books that are page turners。 Highly recommended。 The cover is very innovative made me want to read the book before I opened the cover。

Loved! The audio of this is absolutely fantastic。Thanks to Macmillan Audio and Libro。fm for the ALC。A town drama told from triplet young women grabbed me from the beginning。 Each sister has their own narrator, which made the story come alive for me。 I loved how the town was character like and how all of the characters had strong opinions, yet respected each other。 This book definitely made me think about corporations and their intentions。 It was so well done。
