“It doesn't matter how you got here。 You are here。” So。 This was a book that happened。 The thing is I don't have strong feelings for this。 Nor bad or good。 But god, was I bored half of the time。 This felt like a predule, but it shouldn't have: so many things happened, so many important things happened, but still, I just felt numbness。 I think I have already forgotten half of the things that happened, and I for sure can't recall the plot out loud。 This is a thing that always happens to me with “It doesn't matter how you got here。 You are here。” So。 This was a book that happened。 The thing is I don't have strong feelings for this。 Nor bad or good。 But god, was I bored half of the time。 This felt like a predule, but it shouldn't have: so many things happened, so many important things happened, but still, I just felt numbness。 I think I have already forgotten half of the things that happened, and I for sure can't recall the plot out loud。 This is a thing that always happens to me with Stiefvater's plots: like a dream, they don't always move how I expect them to, there's always an abstraction to them that makes them just slightly out of reach。 But this abstraction always called me in, lured me with beauty; this time, however, I just felt muddled, always wondering when something that would make me feel would happen。 It didn't。 I did start reading the Dreamer Trilogy for how attached I was to Ronan, and to Adam and Ronan's relationship, but Call Down the Hawk trapped me completely。 I fell in love with Declan and Jordan, and I took for granted I'd fall for Hennessy giving it some more time。 I didn't expect much from Carmen (view spoiler)[and I still don't。 Like the thing with Liliana was nice but, as the rest of the book, didn't make me invested in them (hide spoiler)]。 This time, the only salvageable things were the chapters of Declan and Matthew, both of them together and some with only Matthew, as the rest fell in a limbo。 Not bad, mostly not bad, but definitely not good either。 (view spoiler)[Except everything with Ronan and Adam's relationship。 That was definitely bad。 (hide spoiler)]I wish I had liked Henessy more, she who is the representation of chaos, but I just couldn't see her appeal。 Ronan's chapters, too, dragged on。 And, but this is only a personal pet peeve of mine, I hate when problems raise because of miscommunication or, in this case (view spoiler)[the complete lack of communication (hide spoiler)]。 It's just not for me。 Even then, I'd have forgiven this issue if it had just been a little more nuanced, some more interaction and feelings between all these dreamy descriptions of literally everything。 The ones about art, especially, felt eternal to me -but I have never been an art (as in, painted art) enthusiast so maybe this can work for others。 Also, I knew this would be a different book from the Raven Cycle, but I'm not vibing with it being almost completely independent from it。 I was expecting for (view spoiler)[Blue and Gansey, OPAL, at least, to play a bigger part on this, or at least a cameo, but as it was we barely got Adam on it (hide spoiler)]。 Anyhow。 Maybe most of my strong feelings come from my big expectations, as I clearly can see why somebody could love this。 Maybe it just came at a bad time。 Maybe I'm just mad at the overpriced kindle we get in Latinoamerica。 I'll be reading the next one, though, I'll be reading the next one。 。。。more

Wow。 。 。 I just。 。 。 I don't think it's hit me that I'll have to wait for another book。 I got this in the mail a couple of days earlier than the release date, so I won't be saying too much。 But I loved CDTH and was almost scared Mister Impossible wouldn't match up to it。 。 。 Who would've known my love for Mister Impossible would exceed CDTH?! I loved every tiny bit about this book。 We've now eased into the story and the characters are rooted in their places (view spoiler)[(or are they?) WHAT WAS THAT ENDING

Sarahocha

Just Holy Shit。 With caps。The ending by far made up for the beginning that, to me, felt a tad forced。 Like the jokes just didn't quite land well enough to be funny。 The smoothness of Maggie's writing not aligned。。。 until it was and then the story shines in all its mind bending wtf-ery that lands bombshell after bombshell。 So a very high four stars。 Possible to change to five if I reread this and find the beginning more forgivable。 But that end is five stars on its own。 Cause Holy。 Shit。 With cap Just Holy Shit。 With caps。The ending by far made up for the beginning that, to me, felt a tad forced。 Like the jokes just didn't quite land well enough to be funny。 The smoothness of Maggie's writing not aligned。。。 until it was and then the story shines in all its mind bending wtf-ery that lands bombshell after bombshell。 So a very high four stars。 Possible to change to five if I reread this and find the beginning more forgivable。 But that end is five stars on its own。 Cause Holy。 Shit。 With caps。 And punctuated。 Holy。 Shit。 。。。more

Mind。 Blown。 Brain。 Broken。The least-spoilery thing I can say is that this book will take what you think about reality and smack it upside the head。Also this quote from page 156 is mean and perfect and made me cry angry tears about my life: “Before that, he hadn’t understood that his goals and what he wanted might not be the same thing。” Gosh, Maggie, you didn’t have to come for me that hard。

I'm always pre-biased to completely adore any Stiefvater work, but I must admit I loved this more than I thought I would。 My heart stopped several times, I believe。 Such a real portrayal of heartache and longing and hope and hopelessness。 Aggressively wistful。 I'm always pre-biased to completely adore any Stiefvater work, but I must admit I loved this more than I thought I would。 My heart stopped several times, I believe。 Such a real portrayal of heartache and longing and hope and hopelessness。 Aggressively wistful。 。。。more

(4。5 stars) Um。。。。what???? I am so baffled by the twist at the end that I am at a loss for words。 Okay, so first and foremost I want to reiterate my love for Steivfater's writing style。 I love the quick little descriptions that describe so much more than two or three words should be able to。 I love the introspective introductions of the chapters。 They are so telling of and insightful about the action that follows them。 The characters are all amazing。 I loved Declan and Jordan's romance, Matthew (4。5 stars) Um。。。。what???? (4 stars because I love the series, really a 3。5 stars)Pretty slow first half, much more plot driven than character driven, which I found hard to get into。 MAJOR SPOILERS:I understand the parallels and the sense between Bryce coming from Ronan's dreams, but it felt like much more of a cop out and repeat of TRC when we discovered cabeswater was also taken from his dreams。 I just thought it would be more interesting to develop the dreamer world farther and see where Bryce truly came from。 Jordan a (4 stars because I love the series, really a 3。5 stars)Pretty slow first half, much more plot driven than character driven, which I found hard to get into。 MAJOR SPOILERS:I understand the parallels and the sense between Bryce coming from Ronan's dreams, but it felt like much more of a cop out and repeat of TRC when we discovered cabeswater was also taken from his dreams。 I just thought it would be more interesting to develop the dreamer world farther and see where Bryce truly came from。 Jordan and Declan's relationship was honestly my favorite part, and the last few chapters were exciting enough to promise a very interesting third book。 。。。more

I had a hard time engaging with the first book in this trilogy, but this one was everything that I'd been wanting and hoping for, and then more; it was a punch in the gut that I appreciated every moment of。 Stiefvater handles the complexities of the human condition (needing a purpose, how people's purposes can be in conflict, how that can be true even when those people love each other, self-loathing, denial of reality, rejection of what you're good at/what makes you happy for "noble" or "rationa I had a hard time engaging with the first book in this trilogy, but this one was everything that I'd been wanting and hoping for, and then more; it was a punch in the gut that I appreciated every moment of。 Stiefvater handles the complexities of the human condition (needing a purpose, how people's purposes can be in conflict, how that can be true even when those people love each other, self-loathing, denial of reality, rejection of what you're good at/what makes you happy for "noble" or "rational" reasons, etc。), and she leaves me heartbroken and conflicted but desperate for more。 。。。more

3。5/5 **In a way, this book left me with a million questions and put in a strange mood where I couldn't shake off what happened。 It's incredibly fascinating and leaves you searching the book for more, as it feels like it ends right when things really start to happen。 Stiefvater wonderfully writes a feeling of "wrongness" into the book, where you can't help but feel as if something is amiss。 Surprisingly, the standout character of this book for me would have to be Declan, who I never cared about 3。5/5 **In a way, this book left me with a million questions and put in a strange mood where I couldn't shake off what happened。 It's incredibly fascinating and leaves you searching the book for more, as it feels like it ends right when things really start to happen。 Stiefvater wonderfully writes a feeling of "wrongness" into the book, where you can't help but feel as if something is amiss。 Surprisingly, the standout character of this book for me would have to be Declan, who I never cared about all that much before。 Can't wait for the third and final book! 。。。more

This book broke my brain in the BEST way。 I was actually GASPING at the end。 Her characters are wonderful, her world-building skills are unmatched, good gracious if you haven't read any of her work before now WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR???!Tbh though, I LOVE Ronan Lynch as though he were my own child but I don't think I'll EVER forgive him for hanging up on my actual son, Adam Parrish。 That shit better be SOLVED APPROPRIATELY in the next book or I will riot。 Maggie does it again!
