Summary

MAJOR SPOILERS below if you have not read book one (The Umbra King)。

This is NOT a standalone。 It is the second and final book in the Vincula Realm duology and must be read after The Umbra King。
Erdikoa

After being released from the prison realm four-hundred and ninety-nine years early, Rory finds herself in Erdikoa with no memory of the last three months and orders to keep her release a secret。

Feeling like an outsider looking in, she tries to acclimate to her new life, but she can’t shake the feeling that something, or someone, is missing。

She begins to question her reality when her sister’s killer plagues her dreams, insisting he’s innocent。 But she knows what she saw all those years ago, and she’s faced with a choice: avenge her sister, potentially destroying her life again, or let go of revenge to embrace the second chance she’s been given

Will she be able to retrieve her memories to help her decide, or will she stay in the dark forever, dreaming of a man she should hate?

Vincula

With a haunting prophecy hanging over his head, Caius races against time to break the magic barrier trapping him in his own realm。 With the help of unlikely allies, they discover a solution, giving Caius hope for the first time since Rory’s departure, but it comes at a steep price

However, the evil they face cannot be underestimated, and the evil within may become necessary。

For her, he will become a monster。 For him, she will remain one。

The last installment of the Vincula Realm duology is filled with mystery, romance, and twists to keep you guessing until the very end。 This is book two in a duology and cannot be read as a standalone。

Aeternum is the second and final book in The Vincula Realm Duology and I had been waiting (impatiently) for it since I read “The Umbra King”! It’s not a short book but I could not put it down。 Literally。 I stayed up all night to finish it in one sitting, knowing work would be miserable the next day, but I couldn’t stop。 I needed to know how it ended。 It was amazing。 There’s humor, soul, mystery, love, heartbreak, friendship, spice, and so much more。 *Spoilers for Book 1*Caius and Rory will forev Aeternum is the second and final book in The Vincula Realm Duology and I had been waiting (impatiently) for it since I read “The Umbra King”! For reference, here’s probably my favorite quote of the book from Caius: “I have bathed in the blood of your enemies。 What makes you think I would not paint myself with yours?” Inspired AND k*nky。 Love it。 “Aeternum” is a bit of a rollercoaster of emotions and as Jamie’s “About the Author” page states, “[she] regrets nothing”。 It’s hard for me to actually rate books 5 stars, and I write reviews on even less, but “Aeternum” is absolutely 5 stars and has become one of my comfort books for sure。 。。。more

This book gave me all the feels。 The love I feel for these characters knows no bounds。 This was an amazing finish to the duology, bringing closure for some characters and hope for others。 I was wonderfully swept away into Vincula and Erdikoa and taken into a found family of characters who will not leave my soul for a long time。 😭😭😭🥰🥰🥰

First, I would like the thank Jamie for allowing me to be a part of her eARC team for this entire series。 And with that, please see my honest review - I fell in love with the first book in this series, as it was new and exciting and the author had a way of pulling us in and falling in love with Slytherin characters and the way they f***ed。 This second installment though only kept one of the above two things。 I felt that this book was a lot of fluff for our main characters, and ended up being an First, I would like the thank Jamie for allowing me to be a part of her eARC team for this entire series。 And with that, please see my honest review - I fell in love with the first book in this series, as it was new and exciting and the author had a way of pulling us in and falling in love with Slytherin characters and the way they f***ed。 This second installment though only kept one of the above two things。 I felt that this book was a lot of fluff for our main characters, and ended up being an introduction to a completely separate plot with Sam as its lead。 Instead, we got around 500-600 pages of;Rory being back with her friends and family, and just "living a normal life" andCaius trying to sort out his feelings after making a huge mistake, and learning that light and love are always better than hate and darknessHonestly, the way this book was marketed on instagram story, and the way it was being presented to us, I felt that the HUGE mistake that Caius made at the end of book one was going to be a bigger plot point in this book。。。 but no。 My honest review? I felt that a lot of the shopping with friends fluff chapters could have been replaced with getting to know Gedeon more than the one or two short chapters we got or even more chapters and encounters with Sam and Stassi。 Because if I am being completely honest, I felt no real connection with any other characters in this book besides Sam and Rory's friendship。 And that also includes how I felt about Caius and Rory。 They had some cute moments here and there and their sex was pretty electric, but I thought that Rory and Sam had a lot more emotional scenes and a stronger connection than with any of her other friends and Caius himself in this book。 I didn't care much about Stassi, except for how Sam felt about her。 And honestly, Gedeon felt like such a random side character in this book, even though he was supposed to be the BIG villain。 Besides killing Cora, I think the worst thing he had done was just being a huge dick and defunding a lot of programs。 I would have loved to get to know him better and understand his motivations。 Besides the plot itself, I felt that the writing was repetitive and felt juvenile。 Or I felt that I had read a first or second draft of something。 I think a lot could have been cut out - I didn't need to be reminded of something in complete detail, over and over again。 I think there could have been more added, including a more creative way of the prophecy being played out in the story vs a game of 20 questions near the end。 And lastly, I wanted more of a fight between Gedeon and Caius。 The end felt very anti-climatic even though it was a HEA。 I honestly had a hard time not skimming the last 10%。。。 including a very heartfelt but random one page epilogue。 。。。more

This was a great conclusion to the series! Wrapped up every lose end。 I feel like Rory should have made him grovel a bit more but loved the ending :)

I would like to begin by thanking the author for the e-ARC opportunity。 This review is my honest opinion on the book。I had been dying to read this since the release of book 1 last year。 This was everything I wanted and more。 Not only did it give me closure, but it gave me all the hype for the standalone novel, A Silenced Fate。I don't know if I can properly express how much fun I had with this。 I found myself smiling, swooning, and laughing for a good portion of this。 I personally love the author I would like to begin by thanking the author for the e-ARC opportunity。 This review is my honest opinion on the book。I had been dying to read this since the release of book 1 last year。 This was everything I wanted and more。 Not only did it give me closure, but it gave me all the hype for the standalone novel, A Silenced Fate。I don't know if I can properly express how much fun I had with this。 I found myself smiling, swooning, and laughing for a good portion of this。 I personally love the author's humor and the interactions she writes for the characters。 Everything feels so natural and really makes the reader adore the entire cast。 There wasn't a single character that I did not adore。 Furthermore, the pacing was done so well and there was not a single moment where my interest wasn't captured。 I was definitely invested from beginning to end。Rory and Caius were utter perfection and I cannot describe them any other way。 Boy did these two go through separation anxiety, but that only added to their chemistry and overall development。 CAIUS IS SO FINE !!! This man is so devoted and in love with Rory。 His one and only priority is Rory and frankly I love to see it。 He was the absolute cutest and despite his dark powers, he will always be my cutie pie who is obsessed with all things sugary。 I personally feel that he took their separation the hardest and it was so cute to see the little ways he would try to bridge the gaps between their souls。 Don't even get me started on the spicy scenes, those were just wow and Caius definitely had me weak in the knees。Poor Rory went through it in this one, but she got her vengeance right along Caius and that is all I will say in regards to that。Aside from the romance, I was absolutely obsessed with the friendships between everyone。 Their group moments were incredibly wholesome and good for my heart。 I am especially a fan of Lenora's and Caius moments as well as Rory and Sam。 Seeing the whole gang made me want to have a friend group like theirs。 They are so loyal, loving, protective, and supportive of each other。I did not expect to fall to for Samyaza as hard as I did。 He was everything in this book。 From his grumpy yet soft demeanor, his misuse of language and the random snacks he would pull out to feed his enormous build。 He is so effortlessly funny and I would say that him and Caius are tied for book boyfriend。This book was an excellent conclusion to Rory and Caius's story, but it provided the groundwork for the standalone on Sam flawlessly。 I WILL SHOVE THIS BOOK DOWN EVERYONE'S THROAT UNTIL THEY READ。 This duoology will hold a special place in my heart and I will most definitely be reading Sam and Stassies book, because that preview was heart breaking :(。 I am ready for all of the angst。 。。。more

I’m lost for words。 This was a fantastic ending to the duology。 I love how we get multiple perspectives besides the main characters。 I highly recommend this duology! Since I’m addicted to the emotional damage this series has caused, I’ll be reading the stand-alone that takes place in this world。 I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily。

After the heartwrenching cliffhanger in The Umbra King, I have been anxiously awaiting this story。 This book is the second of a duology and is not meant to be read as a standalone。 This story had everything I wanted to complete the tale。 We even find there will be a companion story coming soon (thanks JAH!!)The story begins with Rory returning from Vincula with no memories of the last 3 months, but she can now see colors。 The adjustment is not easy。Caius longs for her。 It is heartbreaking that h After the heartwrenching cliffhanger in The Umbra King, I have been anxiously awaiting this story。 This book is the second of a duology and is not meant to be read as a standalone。 This story had everything I wanted to complete the tale。 We even find there will be a companion story coming soon (thanks JAH!!)The story begins with Rory returning from Vincula with no memories of the last 3 months, but she can now see colors。 The adjustment is not easy。Caius longs for her。 It is heartbreaking that he knows she doesn't remember him, even in her dreams。 At least not yet。。The writing is superb, the characters are brilliant。 This book is perfection。 。。。more

Well。 Jamie。 You did it again。 Okay。 So I will say this reduced stress in some aspect but induced stress in other ways… Rory fights for her memories and for the man who keeps appearing in her dreams。 She randomly remembers little pieces here and there but nothing solid。 Caius fights for Rory, to love her and protect her from Gideon。 But how is that possible when they’re not even in the same realm?!And Sam…。well。 Yeah。

✨Arc Review✨5⭐️ 3🌶️An emotional ride the least to say。 This duology ended beautifully, although I’m sad that it even ended! This book picks right back up from where the Umbra King left off, with the heart wrenching ending。 It picks up to where Rory is back in Erdikoa and confused on what happened due to her memory being wiped clean。 We get alternating POVs with this book so we are seeing both side of what Rory and Caius are going through during this time。 The amount of emotions that you can feel ✨Arc Review✨5⭐️ 3🌶️An emotional ride the least to say。 This duology ended beautifully, although I’m sad that it even ended! This book picks right back up from where the Umbra King left off, with the heart wrenching ending。 It picks up to where Rory is back in Erdikoa and confused on what happened due to her memory being wiped clean。 We get alternating POVs with this book so we are seeing both side of what Rory and Caius are going through during this time。 The amount of emotions that you can feel from Caius melts off the pages and seeps into you。 I felt every emotion this man, was portraying and it made the story that much more real。 。。。more

Jamie does it again, leaving readers more in love with these characters again。 This book kept me on the edge of my seat but also had me laughing and smiling。 Aeternum starts off right where the Umbra King leaves us。 This book gives us the conclusion we need but is fast-paced with a great amount of details and hints towards the ending。 The twist and turns kept me engaged throughout the story。 The ending warmed my heart for our characters but also left me heartbroken for others。 So many emotions w Jamie does it again, leaving readers more in love with these characters again。 This book kept me on the edge of my seat but also had me laughing and smiling。 Aeternum starts off right where the Umbra King leaves us。 This book gives us the conclusion we need but is fast-paced with a great amount of details and hints towards the ending。 The twist and turns kept me engaged throughout the story。 The ending warmed my heart for our characters but also left me heartbroken for others。 So many emotions were felt reading Aeternum。 I loved seeing Rory and Caius again。 Their relationship is sweet and heartwarming but also hilarious with the banter。 Then add more spice (yes more) and you have the perfect mixture。 There are multiple POVs in this story too, allowing readers to see the action between the realms and understand each character more。 I loved getting to know both Sera and Lenora, but I loved the returning friends group, Lauren, and Sam even more。 This is a hard review to not give any spoiler in。。 If you haven't read book one, run and do that now! I can wait for the spin off stand-alone series for Sam! 。。。more

I am so happy to have received an ARC from Jamie Applegate Hunter。 Aeternum was an utterly ravishing tale, taking me right back to where it all began and ended devastatingly in The Umbra King。 JAH has a way of making me feel all of the emotions, the good, the bad, the ugly and the evil。 Continually, she twists my heart and yet, I love her for it。 My heart is overjoyed and finally functioning having a conclusion for one of my favourite novels and that conclusion was nothing short of phenomenal。 I I am so happy to have received an ARC from Jamie Applegate Hunter。 Aeternum was an utterly ravishing tale, taking me right back to where it all began and ended devastatingly in The Umbra King。 JAH has a way of making me feel all of the emotions, the good, the bad, the ugly and the evil。 Continually, she twists my heart and yet, I love her for it。 My heart is overjoyed and finally functioning having a conclusion for one of my favourite novels and that conclusion was nothing short of phenomenal。 In true JAH fashion though, she ripped my heart out in a different way and I'm left reeling for a story I didn't even know I wanted or needed。 Throughout the entire novel that is Aeternum, I was engrossed in the plot and white-knuckled, gripping my Kindle in suspense。 Jamie does not fail to create a sense of danger, foreboding and ultimate intrigue while developing her plot with creative, lush world-building with subtle hints of mischief and darkness。 The development of the characters and, especially, the side characters in Aeternum was truly enchanting。 Jamie elaborates on characters we come to know and begin to love in The Umbra King, developing their background woven with rich fictional histories that they become more than just side characters and take a much bigger role in the action。 My adoration is strong。 I am enchanted by the Vincula Realm duology, and cannot wait to see how all of these amazing threads weave together once Jamie pulls me from this new ledge on the cliff。 I've traded one cliff for another。 。。。more

This is a satisfying conclusion to the story, and I am glad I read it! A huge bonus is having the maps included with this book。 While The Umbra King ended on a major cliffhanger, I felt like this sequel lacked the pacing strengths of the first book。 It would have benefited from more action。 There are two big reveals in this book about Gedeon and Sam, but they are predictable and don’t end up having intense enough consequences。I enjoyed to tee up to Sam and Stassi’s story and look forward to read This is a satisfying conclusion to the story, and I am glad I read it! This。 Book。 I have no words for it。 The characters, the plot, the romance。 It’s all so well done。 I never wanted to put it down and I enjoyed every bit of it。 I got so attached to ALL the characters in this duology。 If you’re thinking about picking these books up, DO IT! Side note。 I am SO excited for Sam’s book。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 ARC Reader review。 Rory and Caius’ romance is beautiful。 Rory has no memory of Caius when the book starts, but slowly she starts to remember。 It’s like watching them fall in love all over again。 The side characters all have their own personalities and it’s a joy to watch them all come together。 This book will rip your heart out completely starting at chapter 52 and continue to right up til the end in my opinion。 Having the memories of a friend that very few people remember is truly sad to me。 I’ ARC Reader review。 Rory and Caius’ romance is beautiful。 Rory has no memory of Caius when the book starts, but slowly she starts to remember。 It’s like watching them fall in love all over again。 The side characters all have their own personalities and it’s a joy to watch them all come together。 This book will rip your heart out completely starting at chapter 52 and continue to right up til the end in my opinion。 Having the memories of a friend that very few people remember is truly sad to me。 I’m looking forward to the next books! 。。。more

3。5 ⭐️ This book wrapped up Caius and Rory’s story so nicely I didn’t really have any lingering questions。 The magic system and “soulscape” was some of my favorite things to read about。 The spice was too notch and the story was so unique and imaginative。 My poor Sam though (I’m so heartbroken for him)。 I am excited to learn and read more about him and his story after that little excerpt we got。I can’t wait to emerge myself back in this world

We get introduced to additional lore near the end and based on how things progressed I am eager for this standalone! I liked how release of world lore came with the plot twists and the story paced it well。 The plot had these moments of tensions, slices of life, and romance that kept me drawn in。 I will say the last 30% really ramped things up with plenty of action as well as there is some moments that you should check trigger warnings about。 I felt it brought things all together nicely。 Now, I do wish there had been a bit more focus on the end of Caius and Rory's journey as I felt there was a bit more of a focus on building up for standalone and future stories。 That said I CANNOT wait for this new book。 This duology gave me a beautiful mix of highs and lows as we navigated this tumultuous world of prophecy, mystery, and romance。 I find myself not waiting to leave it but eager to see who comes next。 If you are looking for a quick urban fantasy with sweet and angst romance, a mysterious prophecy and ever growing world, this is a series to check out!Thank you to the author for this ARC! 。。。more
