A Good ReadI really enjoyed this book。 Greaney has The Gray Man down, but is a skilled writer so the story kept me engaged。 The alpine vest was a great twist。 I’m looking forward to the next book。

ExceptionalGreany does it again。 Gray man reveals his human side, and scrapes through impossible odds。 Not unscathed, barely victorious, hero to the downtrodden。 Great storyline, so very relevant in today's geopolitical climate。 Three cheers for Gray Man, three cheers for Greany! love the Gray Man series。 this was one of the better stories。 love the addition of Lucy, the CIA agent who could not shoot a gun, except when she absolutely had to shoot。 the flow of the action from Europe to America was exciting。 always amazed at the tricks that keep the Gray Man alive like the inflatable down vest worn by downhill skiers。 。。bring on the next Gray Man

Another great Court adventureMore of the same high intensity, wild page turning fun from Mark Greaney。 With today’s world conflict in Ukraine, the advent of the dark web, and people wondering how the people in power got there - this addresses it nicely。 Great action and fun!

I will catch hate for this, but here goes。 I'm pissed! The only reason this book is called Burner is because Greaney just burned all his readers。There is little to no emotional tension。 We barely care about the characters。 The plot was largely stale。 The political implications were the heartbeat of the narrative。 Then, somehow, we are left with nearly zero political fallout!? Filled with all the trademark action, spycraft, wild chases, insane fights, and double-dealing villains, this was still as fun as the previous 11 installments, but there was something。。。I don't know if it's getting to the "I've seen it all before" stage with this series。 Or maybe it's the specificity that perhaps I haven't noticed before (Greaney details that it takes 20 seconds before someone responds, he details the countdown—again, to the second—before charges will go off。。。despite Gentry bat Filled with all the trademark action, spycraft, wild chases, insane fights, and double-dealing villains, this was still as fun as the previous 11 installments, but there was something。。。I don't know if it's getting to the "I've seen it all before" stage with this series。 Or maybe it's the specificity that perhaps I haven't noticed before (Greaney details that it takes 20 seconds before someone responds, he details the countdown—again, to the second—before charges will go off。。。despite Gentry battling someone trying to kill him。。。underwater。。。)Honestly, I'd settle for, "time's running out" or "it took longer than normal for her to respond" or whatever。 But the specifics piled up a lot。There's also a major plot hole toward the end that Greaney tries to ride roughshod over with a ticking clock and action, but all I'll say is, instead of demanding information by 10:00 am, they could have just told everyone to sit tight until, say。。。2:00 pm, and it would have been a better result。Anyway, I'll keep reading these, because Greaney's still the best guy doing this stuff as far as I'm concerned, but it is feeling a little old now。。。 。。。more

Although well written and plotted, the latest installment to the Gray Man series does little to move this series forward。 Court Gentry, aka the Gray Man, is living an isolated life, and dreaming of his love, the female assassin known as Zoya/Anthem。 The conflict between Russia and Ukraine is the backstory for the book and Court is making some money at the behest of an Ukrainian oligarch by blowing up yachts owned by Russian oligarchs。 The CIA has a kill order on him but nevertheless, reaches out Although well written and plotted, the latest installment to the Gray Man series does little to move this series forward。 Court Gentry, aka the Gray Man, is living an isolated life, and dreaming of his love, the female assassin known as Zoya/Anthem。 The conflict between Russia and Ukraine is the backstory for the book and Court is making some money at the behest of an Ukrainian oligarch by blowing up yachts owned by Russian oligarchs。 The CIA has a kill order on him but nevertheless, reaches out to him to track down and recover a phone containing financial information stolen from Russia。 The Russians are also after the data, and have sent out their best operatives。 This mission leads to other related missions which eventually reunites him with Zoya who is now in the private sector and become addicted to alcohol and cocaine。 Working together, they chase, climb and shoot to recover the stolen data。 The book is over 500 pages for no particular reason。 There is no character development; just a lot of detailed action sequences which allow Court to demonstrate his amazing range of skills and unbelievable good luck。 While exciting, the book does not really distinguish itself relative to other books in this genre from a character perspective。 。。。more

This is one of the best high octane Grey Man novels I have read to this date。 It is a true page turner with more twists than roads in the mountains of WV or Italy。 In the end, it was heartwarming and satisfying to me。 What a read。 It will be read again and recommended to all。 This book should become another Grey Man movie。

What gives? Within the first few chapters on this book, I am told that the Court Gentry is in his 30’s and the CIA wants to kill him。 Immediately, I have the impression that Mark Greaney dusted off an older, incomplete manuscript, added a recent historical event to the plot and then submitted the story for publication without any consideration as to how/why the Gray Man is 15 years younger than the last book the Gray Man was featured in。 Shortly after the pronouncement of Court Gentry’s age, the What gives? Action A-Plenty But…This book is definitely packed with action。 Greaney does his usual great job of building chases and escapes into the plot and the dialogue is (mostly) believable。 Would have earned 4 stars except for one plot point that’s pretty ridiculous, and the fact that the train scene seemed to go on forever。

What can I say about this book (or any other Gray Man book) that hasn't already been said? This book is freakin' explosive! I loved this。 I mean—The Gray Man is one of the best action thriller series being published, but this installment was particularly memorable。 Not only was the main story compelling, involving escorting a Ukrainian banker possessing files implicating Russia funnel funds out of the country with cryptocurrency to bribe, fund, and otherwise establish illegal operations around the world, but it had great personal developments for Court and Zoya as well。For the last several books the deal has always b I loved this。 I mean—The Gray Man is one of the best action thriller series being published, but this installment was particularly memorable。 Not only was the main story compelling, involving escorting a Ukrainian banker possessing files implicating Russia funnel funds out of the country with cryptocurrency to bribe, fund, and otherwise establish illegal operations around the world, but it had great personal developments for Court and Zoya as well。For the last several books the deal has always been one back for Court operating solo, the next book he works with a team, usually Zack and Zoya。 But with the ending of this book it appears Violator’s days of running solo are over。 It looks like the Lone Wolf may be running with a mate from now on。The other big change is Court finally forming an alliance with a new contact at the CIA。 Angela Lacy not only seems competent but also seems at playing the political game and seeing that Court’s principles are aligned with hers。 I’m looking forward to them deepening their burgeoning alliance and someday her helping to clear his name for the record。All in all, a great story that pushes the series ever onward to the next big mission。 。。。more
