Summary

He was my first and I thought he’d be my last。 Now he’s asking for a second chance。

Micah Hutton is charming。 Sweet。 Confident。 And his page in the shirtless fireman calendar for charity? Trust me, November has never been hotter。 But like Grandma says: it’s never the angels who look like sin。

Micah promised he’d love me forever。 And I believed him, enough to give myself to him the night before my parents dragged me across the country, tearing us apart。 He broke my heart—and his promise—by disappearing the moment I learned I was pregnant。

Seven years later, I’m back in my hometown, staring at my first love, watching his heart break as he meets a little girl who looks just like him。 A little girl he swears he never knew existed。

He thinks I kept our baby a secret, but why would I do that? I told him as soon as I found out, certain he'd be at my side the very next day。 Devastated when he wasn’t。

Micah says he’s ready to be a father, but am I ready to open my heart and let him back in? Does he deserve that second chance?

Can I please have a fireman too? Wow! Micah and Ivy set my bookmark on fire with their love story。 Abby Brooks has done well to interweave background of abuse in an effective and heartfelt way without losing the essence of the relationship that Micah has with Ivy。 Together, with their firecracker Nell, the characters come to life。

DNF at 31%I struggled a little with the writing style of this book, but as this is a new author to me, I worked through it。Unfortunately what I couldn't work through was how unbelievable the misunderstanding and miscommunication between them was。I get it。 She was going when she got pregnant and she didn't handle it well。But。BUT。All Ivy did was send a few unanswered texts。 Did she make a phone call to the man who was the father of her child? Nope。 But hey。。。she was young。 Nope。 Sorry。 I'm not goi DNF at 31%I struggled a little with the writing style of this book, but as this is a new author to me, I worked through it。Unfortunately what I couldn't work through was how unbelievable the misunderstanding and miscommunication between them was。I get it。 She was going when she got pregnant and she didn't handle it well。But。BUT。All Ivy did was send a few unanswered texts。 Did she make a phone call to the man who was the father of her child? I really don’t like second chance romance tropes AT ALL but this one was done PERFECTLY!! Micah was a dream hero who never lost his love for Ivy。 We don’t have to read about him screwing his way through woman while the heroine is pinning for him。 This book is so far from that type of bs and is a beautiful book about first loves being broken apart because of family, in this case a horrible father:( Well done author, now I need to go back and read where it all started until Nathan’s story is told! This book had so much。 But what I love most about books like this is the healing and growth characters go through and Abby did an amazing job at capturing that。 Ivy's character did just that。 She not only got out from under her father and ex fiancé's thumb, she was able to heal and stand on her own two feet for not only herself but her daughter。 She learned that accepting help wasn't using someone but giving herself the grace to better herself so that she could one day pay it forward! I couldn’t be more happy with this happily ever after for the Hutton family! Micah, Ivy & Nell deserve it!! ❤️ 。。。more

A must-read If i could give this book 100 stars, i so would。 This book hit me hard。 It hit some where down my soul and even thought my life is not like Ivy , still something is similar。 And I cried because she was strong。 Strong enough to walk away from a very toxic relationship。 This book was amazing。 It touched real-life lessons, and the love Micha has for Ivy is beautiful。 I love Nell she is a very amazing little girl。 And gosh, I love Grams。 It's definitely a must-read book。 Abby Brooks , y A must-read If i could give this book 100 stars, i so would。 This book hit me hard。 It hit some where down my soul and even thought my life is not like Ivy , still something is similar。 And I cried because she was strong。 Strong enough to walk away from a very toxic relationship。 This book was amazing。 It touched real-life lessons, and the love Micha has for Ivy is beautiful。 I love Nell she is a very amazing little girl。 And gosh, I love Grams。 It's definitely a must-read book。 Abby Brooks , you did it again。 Thank you 。。。more

FireA story with so much heart! This story contains real life issues, emotional, domestic abuse issues, and drama that people use to manipulate emotions。 Sadly this really happens and it’s hard for some to see a way out。 This story will make you feel like there is a light and that you will make a life for yourself again and there are people who are not interested in running your life, but helping you find yours。 Beautifully written, loved it。❤️

If any couple deserved a second chance, it was definitely Micah and Ivy。 This story touched me because everyone knows an Ivy or at some point was an Ivy。 She was manipulated and controlled by men in her life that were supposed to love her。 Sometimes for people their family can be your worst enemy and for others they are amazing! Micah, her long lost love, is a true hero in every sense of the word。 He is steadfast, protective, generous and loyal。 He definitely has a heart of gold and is such a great dad! I absolutely adore Penelope and would take a daughter like her in a second! The bond she had with Micah was so special and made me smile。 Two souls that just get each other and it was beautiful to witness。 You should read this book for the nicknames, the comic books, the sticker nails, the pact letter, the phone calls and the driveway alone。 This story had my heart in a smolder until the “Fire” exploded into forever love!Tracey, Life Reads With Friends Book Blog 。。。more

True love is hard to find and when you're lucky to find it when your young, grab it and hold on to it。 Micah and Ivy had that kind of love。This book hits home with its amazingly written story of metal abuse and controlling relationships。 Abby has done it yet again, she grabs her readers from the first page to the end of this story, bringing a broken couple back to together again with love stronger than before, while helping Ivy to learn she isn't what her dad or ex says about her。 Definitely a m True love is hard to find and when you're lucky to find it when your young, grab it and hold on to it。 Micah and Ivy had that kind of love。This book hits home with its amazingly written story of metal abuse and controlling relationships。 Abby has done it yet again, she grabs her readers from the first page to the end of this story, bringing a broken couple back to together again with love stronger than before, while helping Ivy to learn she isn't what her dad or ex says about her。 Definitely a must read like all of Abbys books 。。。more
